  • There are two opinions on the matter but according to the vast majority of scholars credit cards are not permissible. The minority scholars that do allow it say interest can be avoided. But if we replace credit cards with zina/alcohol would we have the same attitude?
Even thinking about that above is uncomfortable. Paying interest is a great sin, we should never put ourselves in a situation where we may have to pay it. We should protect ourselves from Ribaa/Interest at all costs.

The bank sent me a credit card without me signing any contracts or applying for one. When i listened to many fatwas on credit cards the verdict of haram is in accepting the agreement that says i have to pay interest if i delay paying the charges. Is it allowed for me to use it if i dont delay payments and incur interest?
Edit: also there are a lot of essential services in my country that has a condition that says if i delay paying, ill have to pay interest- for example electricity, water, when you buy a house you have a condition which says if you delay paying property tax, you have to pay x% interest. Almost every government fee carries an interest clause. Most taxes that are not deducted at source carries an interest clause which means to start a business we need to sign an agreement that says ill pay interest.

The problem the scholars don’t understand or fail to understand is that we do not have a Islamic government or a khilafa which is looking or taking care or people issues or providing alternatives and scholars who are also cornering people in need with restrictions without alternatives or solutions this is a big problem. When the same people get into trouble they will have legal ways and solutions to prove it’s allowed. I also don’t like credit card I never use it but my problem is not the permissibility but my concern and what I am not happy with is that what’s the conclusion where we able to get a solution for the person in need or we are just giving him a restriction that’s what I am concerned about the end result is no solution. By the way I respect the scholars but even if you have signed a document that if in this condition commit zina but when time comes and you fear Allah and don’t commit it it’s not a sin that you will be punished for.

The solution simply spoken is that people in need dont try to spend money that they dont have. If you only spend whats in your account then you cant possibly be charged with interest for not being able to pay back fully. Most non islamic countries have systems in place that help people if they can absolutely not afford any basic needs such as food. So it is always possible to avoid debt related to interest

But there are some cases where they will only accept credit cards. Like hiring a car.

It is problematic when you say Debit cards are there which are already prepaid ... When you deposit in the bank ITS NO LONGER YOUR MONEY ... The bank is utilizing your money and charging interest and building their infrastructure.. Contrarily Bank has no added value if someone buys a credit card and pays his debt ... If you are talking about which helps banks more its the DEBIT CARD

What they do on their end its their business. Your not condoning in no way for what they do. The fact is credit card is haram. Im also aware of the fact that it can be understandable but i always rather avoid something that is the not the best thing for us.

@@frap9965 The point is helping banking institution is haram so you can’t just say I deposited and what they do on their end is not my problem because they are utilising your money I.e you are helping banking institutions.

there's more perks using credit card than debit card in 21st Century if you can manage your expense very well. it requires you to be a logic person which behaves and make decisions on your left brain.

its a little confusing because there is another video on faith iq that says credit cards are permissible by shaikh yaser birjas. I am inclined more towards this one though. It makes more sense.

Syeikh you did not in any way explaining the details, despite your title as Fiqh Expert anyone can say that Credit Card and Interest is Haram.
Please, be more detail. And give us your analytics of the which Credit card system that makes it Haram and Debit system that makes it permissible. We don't need opinions.
