  • There is a fundamental difference between prayer times and the moon. There is a difference between that which comes from Allah and His rasool صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ when compared to that which is left open.
Moon's function is only for the start of the month and for only certain acts of worship in our religion. We have to respect calculations but not make them bigger than they are. We need a system that is applicable to everyone.

You didn’t answer the question of your video - why is it ok for people to use calculations for salat timings when the prophet said look for the length of a shadow or the white thread in the sky etc etc. so when it’s cloudy you just guesstimate is what you said-so what- what’s that got to do with the original question?

He did address this point. If you don't spot the moon on 29th.....you DO NOT go by calculations....rather you add 1 day to current month (despite calculations telling you its possible to see the moon)
Unlike for salah timings.....you DO go by calculations if it's cloudy (despite not seeing the sun/shadows) Make sense?

Asalam Walaikum, I have a follow up question. How would you recommend responding to individuals who say that science, telescopes, astronomy etc did not exist at the time of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW)? They argue that, since it did not exist at that time, we can use it now.... Please help! JazakAllah Khairan.

Forget about calculations for a second which are 99.9999% accurate. Am I allowed to wear my prescription glasses when looking for the moon? If so then I should be able to look through a telescope cuz they’re both using lenses. Why do we not just use common sense???
