One thing Tim does is create his guitar parts based on the intonations and rhythms of rappers. He has a video where he talks about this. Amazing players... and nice guys to boot.

The metal looking stuff is like a 3D printed cover kinda. The nylon acoustic electric is Tim's signature that Ibanez just released for him the TOD10N. Normally it's just black but he has that custom metal looking cover/pick guard thing covering it.
Same with the 8 strings it's just a cover that fits over top.
They had them made for a few of their guitars to give them a kind of unique look for the band.

my favorite part about Tim's composition is that he settles on a melody FIRST (often messing around electronically or on a keyboard) and then worries about whether or not it's actually possible to translate to guitar later.

Tim and Scott are just a dynamic duo.
Along the same lines of the Clays. They just have this truly special chemistry to both unify at points and complement each other at other points. It’s such a symbiotic relationship between every member of this band. They all compliment each other so well.
