    The question you need to ask yourself is WHY you want to join the Corps. It's not a fitness club you are there to be turned into a commando, to soldier, fight, kill people. You have to have the right mindset when/If you join up, fitness is only a part of the package.

    How big of a role does swimming have throughout training? I've been working on getting into shape to sign up but I'm not the strongest swimmer. I tried looking into the swimming but I hardly see any swimming being done in videos and documentaries of rm training.

      You do a swim test to begin with, they say aim to swim 15 lengths non stop is a good benchmark. You’re an amphibious soldier at the end of the day swimming should always be a strength!

      Either the Royal Marines or the Royal Engineers in my opinion. Royal Marines is the most Elite organisation but you get a great trade with the engineers mate.

      Sam Logan Fitness alright nice one mate I appreciate it. Also, for hill training, what’s more beneficial in your opinion? Jogging up a really long steep him, or sprinting up a shorted hill?

    • @CompleteCommando
      @CompleteCommando  4 роки тому +1

      @@ChrisJones-qh2dw Both are great mate. short sprints are the anaerobic system, which is important for explosive bursts. longer hills are for aerobic capacity which is pretty much any work over 15 seconds mate, extremely important to improve.

    Hi Sam
    Just a few thoughts on family and the military. Both my parents served in the R A F
    My dad served 12 years kids do suffer from traveling every 2 years I remember going to a different town and school then my dad would go away for months once my mom and I went to meet him in Libya and I was scared to go near him because he had been away for 10 months . It's better to get in at a younger age and get out and then have a family I think it's better for both sides

      its just another option as i dont know your personal circumstances, At 28 you will be one of the oldest in the troop by a long way, and that in its self is added pressure. if you go down the RMR route it will take some of that pressure off. you'll still have to rock up at CTC and pass all the tests, just trying to give you options to explore, i hope your successful.
