As a former Marine Corps recruiter, many of these questions would have irritated the hell out of me. Why? Because a recruiter has no clue of many of those topics as he/she is a recruiter and not a fortune teller. Each interview is a detailed sales presentation catered to the individuals expressed needs so coming in with somebody else's questions pretty much defeats the purpose. A lot of there are good follow-up questions to ask of the recruiter, but not for a first time meet and some of them will be covered in the first initial meeting without you asking.
@@ForTheCorps just swore in today, currently in the car with my recruiters on my way home from MEPS. I also got the rate I wanted who’s here is Corpsman. Extremely excited for what the future holds for me and I can’t wait to help save lives.
I joined the Marine Corps in 1996 and then the Navy in 2002. I wish I had this information back then. I know 2 different branches. I waited 6 months to try to swear back in the Marine Corps because of 9/11. They were dragging their feet. I talked to a Navy recruiter and 13 days later I was swearing in as a sailor. I served 8 years total. Now keep this in mind. I'm part of a very small group of veterans. Since the creation of the Department of Defense from the War Department back in the 1940s there have only been about 40,000 veterans that have been in 2+ branches of military(at separate times of course)in their lives.

Question @ForTheCorps: For what you can remember, was there a fair amount of mid-20s age guys/gals in your platoon or for what you knew around BC? I'm a 26 year old male, finishing my contract with AmeriCorps in November 2021 and I've been wanting to join the USMC for quite sometime now but in the back of my mind, it's telling me that I'm too old. I remember in one of your videos you said that your drill instructor doesn't care how old you are. Just wanted your thoughts and thanks for the videos.
Thanks man. I am glad you have found the channel helpful! I wish you nothing but the best of luck! Please keep me updated on your journey and progress!
What kind of workouts should I be focusing on the most so that I can be successful during IST, PT Sessions, and or bootcamp? I DO NOT want to fail the PT by any means and I want to hit the maximum if not more.
It’s different for every branch, but usually includes push-ups, pull-ups, crunches and a mile run, sometimes more. You can find PT requirements for your branch online. If you can run a mile in under 9 minutes, do 50 pushups, and do a 3 minute plank, then you should be fine.
I’m trying to join the Army National Guard. I’m nervous about approaching the recruiter because I likely need a couple waivers: age, discharge from prior service. I’ve run into many obstacles trying for Active Duty and was told the Guard was my best shot. Are the recruiters less willing to push you through the process if they have to apply for waivers?
I would say here’s a good question to also ask that I came up with from question number one does the four if you sign up for your contract and a four year reserve contract does that go towards your 20+ years
Because the Marine Corps likes them young. The ideal USMC enlisted recruit is someone just out of high school. The average age of a Marine is younger than any other servicemember and it's not the best branch for older recruits. 27 is a very young (wo)man in the real world, in the Marine Corps, a 27-year-old is a crusty old SNCO who already looks 40. The asshole squad leader treating you like shit is only 20 years old. I wouldn't advise anyone over about 22 to enlist in the Corps, even if they're wilfully accepted. Any of the other services are better for whatever you're looking for MOS-wise (including combat arms) and generally have more diversity in age range. You're more likely to have peers around your own age.
Most of these questions are questions a Marine Corps recruiter couldn't possibly answer. He couldn't possibly tell you how leave works, tuition assistance, promotions, liberty, general duties ect...a recruiter answer how to process your paperwork and what bootcamp is like. For a better idea of what your life might look like, i would talk to people who are working the job you are interested in.
A recruiter is only a recruiter for about 3 years… they were living the “life” of a Marine before they became a recruiter. I’d say they’re overly qualified to answer any and all of these questions.
@@ForTheCorps i have served 6 years. Been to 4 units. I've worked in the wing, base G6, battery, and infantry. None of those are even remotely the same. There are many units, commands, and jobs/billets that will make a Marine's experience very unique. Asking a recruiter about leave policy or field experience is like asking someone from the south how is life like in Montgomery Alabama.
Not that I'm telling my recruiter but I am currently an everyday weed smoker, and am obviously getting clean at the moment I just started as I just started the process with getting in contact with a recruiter, about how long can I delay meps so I can ensure I have a clean drug screen
I’m not a recruiter or any thing but this is the same question I had… I’m probably going to say what’s the earliest I could take it then say what’s the latest?
You recruiter will be able to answer this question. They seriously encounter this everyday with people. Let them know you smoke once in a while and tell them you want to be a Marine, but you are worried about the drug test.
I was planning on joining the marine reserves since I’m having a baby and no trades skills, would you highly recommend? I see it as an open door to join the fbi down the line
Go for it man. I always recommend going active for your first four years, but it all depends on your situation. The Marine Corps is a great resource and can set you up for a lot of opportunities down the road. Feel free to reach out whenever man and good luck to you.
I got turned down twice by the marines because of my age but I’m going into the army and want to do a 20 year contract should I go for a 4 year then reenlist?????
great video Tony, I just found your channel and am really considering on joining the Marines, I am a male 22yr old, but am overweight atm, but im currently doing a diet to lose weight. So far I have lost almost 50lbs since starting it. I was talking to a Marine Recruiter over text the other day, and am very interested. I started my diet at 330lbs ( yeah yeah ik, its just so hard to get rid of eating junk food. But I am doing better now ) now i am currently 285lbs. I asked what is the min/max weight for a male who is 5'5, he said if you can get down to 173lbs, you'll be good to go for boot camp. Tho I might go a little lower than that tbh. I am gonna try to join by end of 2023, mid to end of 2024.
Be difficult with them. Let them know that you won’t join if you feel you’re being mislead. If they aren’t telling you the truth or treating you poorly find a new one.
@@ForTheCorps this reassured me, thank you. I’ve written lots of questions. I go tomorrow to talk to a recruiter. Obviously there’s no obligation, and I am interested but your video and many others have helped me be less anxious about the whole thing. I appreciate it man for real
Honestly, I think the age cut off is 28. There might be an exception to the rule with some type of waiver. I knew guys that enlisted at 28 and they had families. They just realized later in life they wanted to do it. Go talk to a recruiter and see what your options are man.
I got administratively separated for asking a girl out this shit is annoying but optics are important just wondering dose anyone know how I can get back in with a general under honorable and a re code 3 perfect service record no issues just that one article 15 any advice would be appreciated was an E-4 with 3 years in service.
"I got administratively separated for asking a girl out" Why do I get the feeling there is more, I mean WAY more to the story than this. You don't get kicked out for asking someone out. Maybe you should've taken the hint after the 150th time she said no/fuck off.
Im a 19 yr in college over in Texas getting my associates in science to be able 2 get my core classes n transfer over 2 university 2 get my bachelors in aerospace engineering 2 be a Air Force pilot, after college grad with my associates im questioning whether i want 2 join the Army Reserves or the Marine Reserves and enlist 2 be a crew chief and other jobs related 2 aviation, i want 2 be in the reserves so that i can be able 2 get my bachelors 2 be a pilot in the Air Force, which branch should i go 4 to be reserves part time at university and serve?
Haha, working on that man.. I am no pro at this editing shit, but definitely working on getting better at it! If only you saw the amount of times I mess up during filming. Its frustrating, but we all gotta start somewhere!

Thank you.
#12 is good
What should I ask when I want to join the marines but become active infantry
Should’ve tried finding this video when I first went to the recruiting office 😂 I can still ask these questions right as a poolee ?
I’m going tomorrow. I’m nervous 😅
Another question I would also ask is what they recruit with the bonuses look like for jobs + in like a sign on bonus if there’s a sign on bonus or not
Most of these questions are questions a Marine Corps recruiter couldn't possibly answer.
List starts at 2:30
Not that I'm telling my recruiter but I am currently an everyday weed smoker, and am obviously getting clean at the moment I just started as I just started the process with getting in contact with a recruiter, about how long can I delay meps so I can ensure I have a clean drug screen
Really appreciate this man, talking to an AF recruiter next week and hopin to become an EOD Tech. Feel much more prepared now.
I got turned down twice by the marines because of my age but I’m going into the army and want to do a 20 year contract should I go for a 4 year then reenlist?????
would you say we’re exiting peacetime?
great video Tony, I just found your channel and am really considering on joining the Marines, I am a male 22yr old, but am overweight atm, but im currently doing a diet to lose weight. I am gonna try to join by end of 2023, mid to end of 2024.
good luck my brother. it is all mental warfare and you have the power within yourself to change your life.
How is your progress now
I have a question if I have something with me that doesn’t effect me at all and I asked my dad and he said it shouldn’t be a problem would it ?
If it doesn’t affect you, don’t say a word about it.
Amazing
Thanks bro!
One more you should probably ask if you're leaning towards the Marines is how the crayons taste.
You don’t need the recruiter for that just try them for yourself
@@ForTheCorps 😂
problem is, most recruiters arent particularly forthcoming when it comes to these very specific questions
Be difficult with them. Let them know that you won’t join if you feel you’re being mislead. If they aren’t telling you the truth or treating you poorly find a new one.
@@ForTheCorps d
@@ForTheCorps this reassured me, thank you. I’ve written lots of questions. I go tomorrow to talk to a recruiter. Obviously there’s no obligation, and I am interested but your video and many others have helped me be less anxious about the whole thing. I appreciate it man for real
haha take note absolutely obsolete learning just as i thought
lol I’m watching this because I don’t know what to email the recruiter
Hopefully you do now!
Needs more Marine Corp knife hands
As a Greenside Doc I love this comment😂😂😂
What opportunities are there after the marines?
Just being a Veteran looks good on a resume. I think the befits that are available after are worth it (GI Bill, VA home loans, Va disability, etc)
How long does it usually take to get into OTS as a civilian with a college degree? Is it always 2-3 years??😱
Is it okay if I type or write down my questions and read them off while in the recruiting office?
no
Yes
Great video bro this really really helped me out. Im meeting with a recruiter tomorrpw !
Thanks bud. How did your meeting go?
what kind of training should someone do to prepare for boot camp?
How odd is it to have someone that just turned 30 enlist?
Honestly, I think the age cut off is 28. There might be an exception to the rule with some type of waiver. I knew guys that enlisted at 28 and they had families. They just realized later in life they wanted to do it. Go talk to a recruiter and see what your options are man.
Ah man I went to meet a recruiter and then watched this video, it went well tho I guess, didin't know what to ask
Still isn't too late to ask them! How did the initial meeting with them go?
@@ForTheCorps really good actually, did good on the ASVAB and im off to MEPS this week.... I've been watching your vids so thanks for the tips!
Anytime man! And thanks for watching, I’m glad your getting something useful from them.
Maybe you should've taken the hint after the 150th time she said no/fuck off.
can someone tell me how can i make a complaint about a marine recruiter??
He's a true alpha male. Thanks!
If you want more college money, you need to go National Guard. Especially if you’re aiming for a bachelor’s.
7:36 but its tomorrow
Can we change army recruiters
What issues are you having with your current one?
Don't ask his anything: READ THE FINE PRINT!
geez the amount of cuts in this vid is insane calm down big bro
Haha, working on that man.. I am no pro at this editing shit, but definitely working on getting better at it! If only you saw the amount of times I mess up during filming. Its frustrating, but we all gotta start somewhere!
@@ForTheCorps yeah im just fucking with ya you're fine
