    Really like the island thingy, can't help but think we would need to take a tent, food and chocolate for Alison just in case.
    Currently playing catch-up after a manic couple of weeks, think we now just have this week's video to watch and we are back up to speed. Anyway hope to see you both soon, much love Darren and Alison 🤟♥️

      I mean, you probably wouldn't be the first to take a tent, food and chocolate 😁 I think the coastguard patrol so not sure if you're even allowed to stay on there anymore, but I imagine it's quite dramatic if you do.
      No worries on catching up, I know what it's like, you can't watch everything all the time so don't worry about it, you've got enough going on right now. Hope your slow travel back is going well much love ❤️ 🤟

      Aww thank you, that's really kind of you. Sorry to hear you can't travel at the moment. @@comealongdear Yes, I'm sure it's lovely. This is the problem with many places - touristy! Very difficult to get parked in Keswick nowadays, especially in high summer, The Lake District is being ruined by over-tourism, so is the Great Wall of China! South Queensferry, Scotland: stowed with tourists wanting to get a boat over to nearby island(s) and cars parked up for a good way, on the road leading back out of the town. 😠

    • @comealongdear
      @comealongdear  2 місяці тому +1

      It's a difficult balance - on the one hand, it's wonderful to visit all these places, on the other, as you say, it can become a problem in its own right. One benefit of being in a van is being able to visit the lesser known locations, and also out of season. Tenby is not somewhere we'd want to visit in school holidays or even on a weekend if we could help it, gorgeous as it is

      Afternoon Paul, we felt a bit spoilt in this part of the country. Like Scotland, you come here to find the escapes into all that rugged, wild British scenery and the old, historical towns. It feels like being in a fantasy novel 😍 Yeah I think the dangers of that Worm Head walk are seriously downplayed, there's constant hazards, and it really isn't appropriate for everyone. Fun though and an immense bit of coastline! Thank you and hope you're well 😊 ❤️

      @@comealongdear 2:54 AM here. I'm a night owl.
      I'm watching a lot of the US Trump debacle; so irritating that such a fool is running for President while being indicted for crimes against America.
      Once the election is over, I think I'll unsubscribe to those UA-cam channels so my brain doesn't implode. Meanwhile, it's like watching a train wreck. It's hard not to look.
      I'm on new medication, for my diabetes, so feeling better. Still so much to do getting my house sorted out and decluttered. And I must get back to writing. I've neglected my book terribly.

      @comealongdear  2 місяці тому

      Oh wow that's earlier than I thought- for some reason I assumed about 6 hours behind us, but it looks to be 8. Nowt wrong with being a night owl at all.
      I'm optimistic Trump isn't taking this, I can't see where these voters who didn't vote him in in 2020 are suddenly surging from now - Meanwhile Kamala will hopefully revitalise a few people into voting who might not have done so otherwise. That's my hope anyway, but US elections often seem terrifyingly close, ours are a lot more predictable. I know what you mean though, sometimes you have to switch yourself off from it completely for your own sanity.
      Interesting about writing a book! I have dabbled before, but sadly I procrastinate too much to ever dedicate enough time to it. Maybe one day though!
      All the best, and glad your meds are working out well 😊

You can also go to the other end of Rhosilli Bay and get onto Burry Holmes, you'll also get cut off out there as well. It's smaller and not as 'comfortable' as the Worm, but just as dramatic I it's own secluded way..

    Good morning boys, always a nice way to start my Sunday seeing you two. I didn’t know about Worms Island - it looks great, really interesting rock formation - I’d love to see it but the ‘causeway looks’ really hard to walk across. Shame you didn’t get to Caldey Island, we managed to get there quite a long time ago - even with 3 dogs can you believe it 🙄. Thanks for the lovely footage of Tenby - we didn’t explore it because it was just so busy - I can’t cope with crowds, especially with dogs, so it was nice to see so much of it in your video. Looking forward to your next video already - stay well and safe. ❤️❤️

      @comealongdear  2 місяці тому +1

      Morning Irene 😊 That's brilliant you managed to get to Caldey with the dogs! They don't mind boats, then? 😁 We were so disappointed as that was going to be much of the video, however it was still great to film Tenby and walk around there. You're right though, it is super popular which is partly why I didn't film too much of the town itself as it got so busy.
      The causeway on Worm Island was very long and slippery, we expected it to take 5 minutes but that section alone was a good half hour one way. Still, a memorable walk and it's worth going to the Gower Peninsula and Rhossili beach (there's a National Trust car park) even if you don't go onto Worm itself.

Worm Island was great fun but we definitely underestimated how long you'd need! And although we didn't film it (impossible unless we fancied a trip to A&E or worse) that scrambling section at the end was actually horrific 😂
      UK pubs are a unique beast, aren't they! Lovely olde worlde places that, even with so many closures, we seem to have plenty of. Funnily enough the Swedish word for snake is orm and I wouldn't be surprised if that's where it's derived from. Our word for worm is mask. Those ragged rocks probably resembled the back of a very large snake or dragon. So many nature formations that trigger the mind. I love it. That whole Worm's Head area was breathtaking (I bet in more sense than just one😂)!
    I bet the cancellations were because of the storm. Hope you did alright. Too bad you didn't get to go, but Tenby was really pretty. I think I like Wales.
    The weather seemed nice as well. Here the frost has started to show up in the morning and Friday it was - 4 and I had to scrape the windwhield before going to work. I really don't like that. Time to get used to putting on the windshield insulation for the nights now. Ugh. Still, the days are sunny so "it is what it is" or det är som det är, as we say here. 😅

      Good Morning to our favourite Skånian 😍 (I'm sure Skånian is not the term, but you know what I mean).
      Orm! I love that, that must come from wyrm/wurme/worm then, especially since those words often originated from your neck of the woods 😁 Either way, as you say, it's a unique bit of land that does allow the imagination to wander...which isn't great when you're on a time limit to beat the tide 😉
      We've loved Wales, especially this side of it. There is so much more space for nature here than in England.
      We got lucky with the weather, we filmed it just before all the endless rain hit, although weirdly Wales escaped most of it. Temperature wise we've been pretty lucky, although as we speak, it's starting to dip significantly.
      Frost on the windscreen, the sign of all those interminably dark months ahead...we can wake up with it staring at us in the van, sometimes frosting on the inside right by our noses 😂🙈 We have screen protectors but they aren't perfect.
      That said we do enjoy winter, when you get to focus on the cosy aspects, but like in Sweden I'm sure, it outstays its welcome by about 2 months.

    i was born in Rochester Kent and came back for a holiday from Australia in 2009. My uncle and auntie took me out for meals and my uncle seemed to know all the places to get a bargain, like a curry and a pint for 6 pounds, or fish and chips two meals for the price of one on a particular day. Do you guys know all these sorts of places and do you use them to save money and eat out at the same time? Maybe you can include these types of places with specials in your adventures. I see you mostly cook in the van to save money but if you have time on your hands you can search these places out. Sometimes it involves cutting coupons out of the paper. That sort of information is very handy for people who might be coming on holiday to know, especially people on a tight budget.

Curry and a pint for 6 quid, that sounds right up our street 😍 While we often eat in the van because we know what we're cooking and because like most people, we can't eat out all the time, your ideas are great and things like that would often encourage us to eat out more. I feel like such deals are fewer and far between these days though, but maybe we're just not looking hard enough.
      If we do find any deals like that though and we use them, we'll be sure to try to include it in the video in future. Thanks for the tips 😊❤️

      I don't recall the Famous Five drinking rum and beer like us, but we could always recreate some of their adventures and add that in 😁

      Which one, the one by Worm's Head? I didn't think you could there, but there is another one on the other side of the peninsula that costs similar I think. If we go back we'll probably try it out 😊
