@@PaintSociety What's the deal with paint chipping off when I did a wet on wet on the front bumper? Maybe I let the sealant dry overnight before I painted it? I can't remember but other than that what could have caused it to chip off?
Have been a painter for over 30 years, i use to watch guys burn the paint off on the c pillars all the time. It's so not worth it, it only takes like 10 more minutes to prep it up and over and it will not fail from the sun later on. Good video!
I just love watching and learning from your channel, as a Hunter Engineering Business Consultant, I love seeing Hunter Alignment systems in the background!!!!
@@PaintSociety LMAO perks of being a owner operator my friend. I can spend more time making content. But it has its downsides as you and I both know dealing with customers is HARD.
Excellent work my friend. Beautiful job! I love the way you masked off the right way. You taped right to the front of the car the way it should be. You rarely see that people are always trying to cut corners. They say don’t worry it blends in. No need to overdo it. I just subscribed because you are wonderful.
Hey Brian, interesting you finish the repair with a 320 on the DA. I finish my repairs with 320 on the block then feather the deeper scratches surrounding the repair with 320 on the DA. Good work as usual👍🏼
Hi Bryan, thanks very many for the awesome video. And all the teaching and you are a super painter. These videos are extremely useful to know what to do and what not to do. Obviously DIY ers and weekend warriors can not afford to buy all the stuff you use, that too for a small repair. But I get the gist of it, how to sand, apply bondo(putty) a very thin layer, and use black primer on a black color car (common sense) , how to make the surface very very flat and smooth, and how important is to make it bone dry, after cleaning it with super degreaser. Very very helpful tips for some one who never painted cars but fixed kids as a profession. Thanks Bryan, appreciate you.
Hey bud I enjoy all your videos helps refresh my memory I haven’t painted a vehicle in years but plan on painting my truck soon. Thanks for all the tips 🙏🏽
Sagola what? I thought your DV1 was your favorite clear gun. I was about to buy one thinking it will help me with my novice clear skills even though I know it will not, but I can dream. Great video as always. I learn something from each one and really appreciate the time and effort you put into them to share your knowledge and experience. I learn every time I spray including today when I made a huge clear mistake. That just means I get to sand and re-do tomorrow. Like you say, it is just paint.
It is my understanding that many 2k base coats and 2k lacquers contain isocyanates in the activator. I notice in your video that you are not wearing an air fed mask or using eye protection.
How do I get a dent or a cruise out of my Volvo C70 year 2000 I would like to do it myself it roll back and hit a small well not small object and I want to get it fixed I just like to do things myself also my window is not working can you tell me how to fix that on a Volvo C70 year 2000 thank you Also when it rolled back it cramped the door and the front driver's corner panel Thank you again Thank you for this video also I have got to paint my Daddy's truck I've got to get a battery for it but otherwise it's an excellent truck it is a 1984 Chevy Silverado limited edition I do want to redo the dash and the seat covers any input you can give me I would greatly appreciate and thank you and I like your channel
Brian, i often get a sticky substance on the surface of putty. What causes that? I'm thinking that its not thoroughly dry. A little reducer wipe will remove it.
So if i had a perfectly fine part, factory painted, clear coat everything is fine. And i simply wanted to change the color. Do i sand down removing the old clear and base coat. Prime it and paint Or sand the clear for the new paint or primer to grab onto to.. Beginner learning. Have some panels lying around i wanna practice on
Have always found black (even metallic blacks) most of the time not neading to blend the base coat. Aslong as the repair is good, black always comes out great!
Great video. I have a few amateur questions! What happens if you try to cut paint into the middle of the roof rail? It will delaminate? The old burn in/cut area looked like it could have been sanded and compounded to blend? When you used a block are you allowed to use one hand? Can't it create uneven pressure? Or does it not matter as you refine with the orbital? Can you find 2k primer in a can like you can 2k clear? Can you use regular primer for a proper repair or will it shrink or fisheye eventually? Amazing job. Flat black seems like an easy repair. Thanks for simplifying paint for us laymen
12:21 just sand it down with 180 doesn't matter if it's in a roof rail area treat it the same keep the block flat don't worry about the pressure so much just let the sandpaper do the work. Yes use only 2k primer no cans just get a paint gun if you can't get a proper setup you can't paint cars period.
My WRX paint is 8 years old. It's looking dull, can i scuff up the whole car and hit it with some 2k clear to save the base and bring back the factory gloss? Then I'll cut and compound the whole car panel at a time
Hello, dumb question. getting ready to paint a panel truck with a step ladder. center of the truck is too tall to reach from the ground. Using nason single stage paint. Should I paint the whole top of the truck with the 3 coats of paint then finish the sides. Maybe this will keep me from scratching the truck. What weather conditions and temps should I aim for? Or should i get up early in the morning to paint. Thanks Brian
How long does bondo have to cure before you sand and prime? How long does primer have to dry before you can paint base coat? How long does paint have to dry before clear coat? I’m just painting my hood with rattle cans.
Brian: I’m painting my 1965 C10 where the top is white and the bottom half is Red. They meet without a trim piece. Question: should I mask each color where they meet or apply white then mask and paint over the white with the red. I’m way old school using single coat paint and no clear since in 1965 they didn’t use clear. Gary - in Nebraska
Hi, could you give me a bit of help, I bought a car that has been repainted all under the hood area and it had a few chips in the paint so I started to repair it but then I found that the entire paint was just peeling off and had not stuck to the surface at all so I used a paint scraper and just remover every bit of the paint back to the original Black paint underneath as the car was originally Black but now I am wondering why the paint did not stick so I can do it again without the same problems. Can you give me any advice as to what to do now. Thanks.
Great Videos great job Question Had my car done professionally Car was down to mostly metal . Sigle stage paint was applied How many coats of paint should usually be applied on single stage ?
great work. I have a different question I wanted to see if maybe you could link one of your videos. I have a hood that was touched up by the dealership about 1 year ago. Now the paint has a chalky white look to it. Any videos on taking care of this?
I've watched a lot of your videos and purchased items you have recommended. Thanks for all the help. I have a question. I was spraying primer on a door that I had horizontal. As I sprayed it, I got over spray on the panel just ahead of where I was putting the primer on which caused my primer to be rough. Is this a gun adjustment problem? Too much air pressure or too much fluid? It could just be a newbie. Thanks for any help.
Hello, please I like to know why come scratch and broken the paint after filler and primer .. I want help because I have 3 car come same problem Thank you
All the wet sanding and water washes... I have extremely high mineral content to my water... I'm country and it is well.... so what do you suggest? (No I'm not dropping huge $ for a reverse os system!!!) Thanks.
One day could you do a video on painting the inside lip of a wheel well? I just painted the bottom of my car (all steel), and I really struggled. I know in a gun review you did you had it down to basically an air gun fan. Anyway...sure would help
im still wondering if one can paint without a booth and without a garage(like in the open air, but with like a tent over the car. my biggest fear is to get dust and debree in the paint since i dont even have a garage)
whats the difference between laquer, acrylic laquer, and urethrane? what type of paint is best for a metallic paint, which one is the most affordable, is it cheaper to paint my entire car with a rattlecan?? i have no spraygun, and none of your videos explain lacquer vs urethrane!
Is it true that urethane primers can be more porous than an epoxy high build primer? Why is it or when is it better to use a single stage vs a two stage base coat/clear? Thanks for great videos. Sub here
Hi Brian, I've watched loads of your videos as doing a paint job on a modified 300zx with a wide body kit. Dam car keeps bitting me back and I'm forever going back on it. 1st time I see a few grey primer specks in the clear. Then 2nd time I had tried to see if I could blend the clear inn. Nope as It did as u showed on this video. So I tried fadeout. Omg I wish I never now as reacted, so had to do again. Now I've a reaction on the rear arch. Driving me nuts so come home to chill away from it
