One of my bosses is a female who used well still does work in a prisons she talks down to her inmates I'm pretty sure and she dominates them because she feels she has to be one up on men and she's bringing that into the job that I have as she is my boss and she talks to me like a little kid my friend told me to tell her "talk to me with respect I'm not your child or your inmates you clearly have a problem with me but I'm just here to work and your toxic energy isn't really affecting me but it's getting annoying" she's probably going to minimize my hours which is a case for retaliation so I'm wondering what I should do

I have one rule, don't expose yourself to any toxic person. Just imagine having a boss that no matter what you do it isn't right. I had to put a boss in his place because he didn't know what he wanted as his mind constantly was changing and nothing I could do was right no matter what T I followed. Everyone on the team felt equally frustrated. After a year of dealing with this toxic asshole and on my final day when I gave my resignation as I had a job lined up I asked him, "Do you think support, encouragement and gratitude are important attributes for a successful managers should have?" I then handed him my resignation and walked out. A month later another key person on his team left as well. My current boss now is a great guy to work with and my job is once again enjoyable.

I don't exactly know what you been through. But I had an experience before. Being a newbie, I made lot of mistakes in my reports. That was very frustrating. Working in a bank, you need to assure everything is correct up to the last cents. I'm not to blame because being new to the report means you need help from your boss on how to do everything. But my boss is a type who give less instructions. It was like, "how can I do this.job right with little instruction" and your limiting conversation with them because you feel toxic with them... Your job will literally be easy with proper guidance. You ended up being blame for all the mistakes.
This days were challenging. Yeah, it leave me some kind of trauma and a lesson to be equipped with knowledge. These will always remind me, "This is hard but I have to adopt, get all necessary skills to make myself better on my work".
I'm here also to remind all young professionals. This is the right time to enjoy life and also to equipped yourself with knowledge.
That's why I'm here always for some tips😊

Reminds me of a manager I went to for advice on a bad boss saying "have you tried talking them about it" 😂 If you go to death row in jail you will find a lot of innocent men or say they will tell you. A bad boss doesnt just stop being a bad boss because you are nice to them, or talk to them or work hard. A bad boss is at their core an unhappy person. And like a drowning person they will drag you down with them if you try to help. The only thing you can do is save yourself and let them sink.

I hate it when people tell you not to worry about it that's a dismissive comment. You just back tracked what you said about it being them and not you. I don't care how busy a manager or colleague is they should not be talking to you like that. People seem to be condoning toxic behaviour as normal. I know I am good at my job. The manager has no clue how my job works to advise me on how to do it. You get told off for things without being asked what happened. Even striking employees about working conditions are being told they didn't know there was a problem. Just stick your head in the sand. I was doing a great job until this manager came along. Poke it popeye I've got a new job.

Doing the best job & submitting to their authority. Not saying to take abuse but a boss whose harsh or unfair sometimes you just have to live with it. I know if I put my trust in God he will work it out. Sometimes confrontation is necessary but only with you can approach your boss in a gentle way.

Excellent tips...over the years I used all your tips (including documenting) and learned to live with it.... on the other hand...happiness is the key. People quit their jobs not because of the company, it is only because of the difficult boss they have to deal with it everyday. In fact, "dealing" with a difficult boss everyday is not good for your mental health...you bring home everyday on the kind of things you had to deal with at work. So, my advise is try to be happy...find another way. You cant control to change the boss, but you can control what you can do. You dont have to deal with the difficult boss everyday. Find another job and quit!! Belive me, just the action of quitting itself will bring happiness to you!!

Love what you said about knowing your boss and getting more information if you need it. No matter what kind of person your boss is, having clear instructions is always important to do your best and avoid all miscommunication. I also agree that you shouldn't blame yourself but sometimes you do have to adjust your approach.

    1. Focus on your job - you can't control what your boss is doing or how they are behaving. Be very clear with what your roles and responsibilities are.
    2. Know what's important to your boss - if not clear, book one on one meetings.
    3. Don't try to fix your boss - understand their behaviours and patterns and adjust yours to theirs.
    4. Stay aligned with your vision and goals - who are you and what do you want.
    5. Put yourself in their shoes - It's not about you it's about them. [My own insert here - change how your boss perceives your personality by focusing on them.]
    6. Take another look at how you are approaching thing - is there some validity to why my boss is doing certain things? Is it me?
    7. Document everything.

I currently have a new boss/director who has such a strict attendance policy; I’m a student-trainee who lives 1.5 hours away from my work (financial reasons), and I am certain she is trying to get me fired. She recently threatened me with an ultimatum that if I’m late one more time, I get kicked from our medical program. It has been causing me so much stress that I can hardly focus on course work. Well today there was a massive snow-storm that took me 3 hours to get there due to her giving us false weather forecast information (I genuinely risked my life driving), and I think she might try to use it against me. She has 0 mercy or flexibility - truly a headache situation. I just want to graduate and leave :(

@@AdrianaGirdler thank you for getting back to me I appreciate your advice. My boss owns his own cleaning company and he's actually been investigated before for cooking the books. In the end he had to cut several checks to his employees this was before I started working for him
I learned this information after I was hired 16 months ago.
I have been documenting things for several months after I started noticing my paycheck was unusual. On top of him being incredibly passive aggressive and a complete narcissist, I have discovered my paychecks have not been adding up right for quite some time. This has been really helpful. You're right. I just have to focus on my job/work and stick to my values. And it helps a lot because we are currently working from home so I don't have to see him at all. My boss has been unsympathetic to many employees. For him, reasons are no different from excuses although they were urgent. He couldn't care less at all. So, I'm learning how not to care about what he says and just focus on my job. He's the kind of boss that is generous with criticisms but stingy when it comes to appreciation.

My boss is weirdly competitive with me. I know him a long time, so I know how he thinks, so for example if I'm late with an assignment, I usually know when to write him to confirm I'm indeed working on it and will send it in few hours. So he knows I didn't forget. Most other people I worked for ususlly responded with "OK" when I did this - my current boss responds with things like "telepathy, I was just about to write to you" to sort of establish he is ahead of me and in control of the situation.
    It's really weird.

My supervisor has a "fix it yourself" attitude--if I ask her any questions, she's very curt and won't give much information. I've caught her lying to me about things in the past because she didn't want to directly come out and tell me she had an issue with the way I did something. Then, when the workflow does mess up, she always takes her angst out on me.

A good boss is truly supportive and protective of you. Any action shown outside of those qualities is toxic. Many, unfortunately are out to get you and keep a “file” (negative, only) on you. Going through this now. He wants me to ask questions. He’s vague in his instructions, so when I ask a question, he takes it as insubordination and notes it in his file. Yet he says he wants you to ask questions!! Brings up those points at evaluation time and indeed keeps a folder anytime he feels dissed. I’ve never had a boss like that. If they kept a file, I never knew about it and they never brought it up.

I once had a female boss that did that and I basically turned into a landmine just waiting to be stepped on. One day she stepped on the landmine and I told her to go eff herself because it's obvious her husband isn't and I walked off.

Outside of that you may want to see if you can transfer to a new class the next school year. Wishing you the best as I can only imagine how frustrating this is for you. Cheers!

My current full-time job that I've been here for almost 7 years, my new supervisor of about 6months move shift so bad I stay away as much as possible. I do not like workplace drama nor do I desire it
The best thing I've started doing is not being around them. Stick me somewhere and I can handle on my own

My boss is currently new to her job title, she never had a job in management before and you can tell and I have been in management before and I am a true leader .. my new boss is no leader at all and she lacks active listening and comprehension skills she’s also an envious person because I did a lot for my department that she hasn’t done and is jealous she hasn’t thought of it first, so she is trying to be my friend and try to negative impact me thinking I will have a reaction, but I ignore it and document everything because she’s trying to twist words of procedures because she doesn’t understand it and saying snarky comments as if I am a liar when I am not and everyone knows it and I’m actually upset up this because now I hate going to work and before I didn’t

I have an incompanant boss and he has you do incompanant things with the customer and there is no telling him that what he telling you to do is wrong. It looks bad for me and it makes us look bad for the company. He has been transferred from division to division. People in my division doesn't know why he hasn't been fired yet. When he gets in charge of a division he loses employees and customers.

6:59 What is document document document mean. How you do it efficiency and effectively in an unfamiliar ever-changing environment. When you're a production worker and don't have access to a computer throughout the day.

It's important to keep documentation of interactions, dates and times when in a difficult situation with your boss. If you don't have access to a computer during your shift keeping notes in a little notebook is also a good way to document. Wishing you all the best.

Tips for Dealing with a Difficult boss:
    1. Focus on your Job, make sure to are doing what you are supposed to be doing Accurately.
    2. Know what is Important to your boss. Physco 101, if a micro manager, make sure your boss understands that you know your job.
    3. Don't try to correct your boss. Never try to change a BOSS or micromanager, that is their way of managing.
    a. Understand their behavior and patterns so you do no feed into it. Adjust your behavior too not feed into more negativity.
    4. Stay Aligned with your Values and Vision and Goals. Stay true to who you are, you cannot control other people.
    5. Put yourself in their shoes. See the pressure they are under. They may be very busy themselves, and some just have quirks.
    6. Take another Look at how you're approaching things. You may be misjudging your boss, do not point the fingers. Is there some validity to their accusations, am I performing?
Bonus Tip: Document the H_ll out of everything and meetings. Show the proof that you boss is after you...and doing wrong things on your behalf.
