- A new restoration and edit of live footage and high quality audio, from the Roxy Music Siren tour, recorded at Wembley in 1975.
•
The Roxy Music Siren tour commenced in the UK on October 2nd 1975. The tour ran for almost 6 months, including three dates in Scandinavia, and many shows in the US and Canada. Andy MacKay: “(In the States) we played mainly theatres which suited us. In the UK we were playing arenas, but the audience were great in both”.
Roxy’s Siren album was released on October 31st, 1975. Therefore, on many of the early shows of the tour, including all the UK dates, the audience had not heard the new material. Despite that, Roxy played much of the new album, often starting the set with two new songs, Sentimental Fool and Love is the Drug.
Love is the Drug became a hugely successful single for Roxy Music, reaching number 2 in the UK, and number 30 in the US charts. It has been said to have been a progenitor of future new wave and funk sounds and a big influence on acts such as Simple Minds, Gang of Four, Public Image Ltd. and the Human League. Nile Roger’s of Chic was hugely influenced by seeing Roxy on the Siren tour, and has stated that John Gustafson's bassline on Love is the Drug, was a major influence on his Chic classic, "Good Times". Love is the Drug also seems to point the way forward to the future Roxy of the Manifesto and Flesh and Blood eras.

It seems apposite timing to put out new Roxy Music videos now, with the band reforming for their upcoming 50th anniversary tour next month. Alas, the band aren’t coming to my part of the world, so I won't get to see one of the shows.
Since making a previous Roxy live at Wembley ‘75 video a few years ago [Both Ends Burning • Roxy Music | Both Ends... ] I’ve been wanting to create a better version of the Love is the Drug live video. The original clip has been on UA-cam for many years, but the sound and edit aren’t that great. And moreover, the uploads have not been in very good quality. I finally found some okay sources to work with, and I have now been able to create something I’m quite satisfied with.
It has often been said that Roxy Music songs are better live than the original studio versions. I think that is very much the case here - the groove that Paul Thompson and John Gustafson lay down is absolutely killer, and Ferry's vocal is wonderful.
And the footage is great! Which begs the question - when will the Roxy powers-that-be release the complete footage from the Wembley ‘75 shows? Treasure such as this must not be left on the shelf! And if the footage needs editing, then Roxy HQ need look no further than Nacho’s Videos!
Anyway, in the meantime here’s one truly golden nugget from those shows.
Thanks for watching, I hope you dig it!

Bass player is killing it!
I saw them at Wembley in 1975. I still listen to Roxy Music. Quality never dies.
What's appealing about it if you wouldn't mind explaining
@@phillipstroll7385 very simple ..... I ride my Harley by myself..... I had people ask me how that could be fun................................. If I have to explain it to you.............. you would never understand...........................................................................................................
You are obviously to young to know, go ask your grampa about Roxy Music , I bet he tell you all about em.!!
D'accord à 100/100.
WOWWWWW!!!!
One of THE great rock bands of all times
Roxy Music was a 1980s band in the 1970s!!!
They were the blueprint for many (british) 80s bands. But none came even close to Roxy's class.
So true. Roxy music time warp.
Yeah ah
No , they were a seventies band . It was only in that decade could a band like "Roxy Music" have emerged . Listen too songs like "Pajamara" or "Out of the Blue" . Both those songs still have leftover remnants of a sixties drug induced psychedali in them . In fact , I can recall reading an article in the "Toronto Sun" , I believe , and the storyline was a group of teenagers were asked in ( I think early nineties and no more than that ) , what they thought of Roxy Music , after being played some of their songs and they described them as( I'm paraphrasing 3o -35 years later ) that their music sounded "old". There was more than that the kids responded , but that being along time and a lot of partying ago , and I draw a blank . It amazed me , I do recall was the kids in the article referring too Roxy's , music , as being old then ? When , I thought to myself , fucking idiots it's like 12 years old at most ? The songs in question were " Out of the Blue" and " "Pyjamarama". Too cut this short it was only during the 1970's that Roxy could have been born and thrived .
Totally!!!
Bet they never thought people would still be jamming to their music 50 years later. At the time this came out rock and roll was only 20 years old.
😊
Genius ❤
Mackay sporting the world’s finest mullet before anyone knew what that was.
First Roxy song I heard…and was hooked
Still a great song. The drum and bass lines, Ferry’s ubercool delivery, and the immediacy of needing to get laid! It practically saved 1975 from mediocrity, and invented the 1980s on the spot.
Yep!!!🤩So true!!
l grew up listening to ROXY MUSIC . My older brother bought all of their albums as they were released . lncredibly they released 5 albums in just 3 years !
What a fucking album!!! As all of Roxy’s stuff was.
Congratulations Nacho!! Your vídeos are the BEST!!! Roxy and Bowie my favorites FOREVER!!!
Thanks very much, glad you like them :)
YESS!
All hail David Bowie - Bryan Ferry - Prince - James Brown. .. ... .... 🛸💜🌞🤘🏿🌞💜🛸
I'm old now but I still adore the band and especially Mr. Ferry ... top bloke .
How can you not love the interwebbs and their magic?
Watching this performance I can definitely see now how Roxy Music took part in the inspiration for Rocky Horror Picture Show. Iconic! ❤
I was there!!!!! It was great and I’m now on their live Album.
One of my favorites Roxy Music tunes!👍
The brunette does it for me oh boy! , my first favourite band, but they split up, just when i discovered them
This Performance Flows Like A Fine 🍷 Wine👍👍👍🎤🎸🥁🎵

Sorry Nacho.

Nichts für ungut 🤷🏻♂️💜
Siren was the 1st Roxy album i bought ever and i got it in 75 upon release and Love Is The Drug was huge, like No1. I found the songs brilliant, Both Ends Burning, Sentimental Fool, Just Another High etc.etc.
Nacho you have done superbly with this and Both Ends Burning also, reminding us how these videos are both vital and influential. Nacho, youre keeping the great videos alive, thanks mate.
Roxy Music, is the best band!!!!!! Bryan Ferry sing's so sultry, his CLOTHE'S are so fine!!!! He make's you want to get up and dance!!!!!!! Best band of the eightie's!!!!!!! From The Motor City, where we know music!!!!!🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶... 🥀🥀🥀🥀......
Love Roxy.
Thank you for this.
Ridiculously good…..and they knew it. So fantastic.
Thanks so much for this. With the TOTP performance lost and the 'Supersonic' performance rudely curtailed, this contemporary one was needed.
Love it, love RM. They still look and sound amazing, no matter the years that go by. Thanks for all your great 70's videos.
What a fantastic band Roxy music always cheer s me up and make s me think about OUR ROBBO ON THE WING FOR NOTTINGHAM FOREST IN THE 1970S JOHN ROBERTSON S FAVOURITE BAND ARE ROXY MUSIC AND FOR ME SO MANY MEMORIES OF THE MEADOWS IN NOTTINGHAM THE GOOD OLD DAYS RICHARD

Wow! Thanks Nacho this is fantastic! Love Roxy ever since I bought their albums back in the 70's/80's. Such a great creative band of excellent musicians. I always loved Bryan Ferries eccentric style too as well as his great vocals. "Siren" is my favorite Roxy album so seeing this is special.
He was simply stunning ❤❤❤
so incredible
uma das romanticas mais lindas do rock.
My favourite band of all time! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Loved Ferry since I first heard Roxy Music in 1974!
Flippin awesome!!!
I’ve been introduced to this band through concrete blonde’s lead singer, who likes this band so much she wrote a song about them. Thank you Johnette!
What song was that? I love Johnette!
Awesome song
As always Nacho
Your talent has no boundaries
Bless you, Vinny XO
Habe Roxy Music in der Alten Oper in Frankfurt gesehen..Genial
Love them❤
fantastic
Love me some Roxy Music one of my top five live concerts on February 27, 1975....Impossible to get to all the epic concerts of my day. But, I got to that one! Brilliant show!
Love it... feels great to be 70!
Saw Roxy, back in 77', at the Masonic Temple, Detroit..it was billed as the Bryan Ferry Show..it was great, as I recall..!
What a band !!!!!
David Byrne for sure saw this performance. Style of performance, bass line reminiscent of Psycho killer, movement of Ferry here reminds me of Byrne and the style of signing.
Much love to you Nacho!
Loving this !! Fantastic job Nacho ! Great choice to restore as it sits nicely with a lot of your other work. I always get super excited when you release a new restoration. ⚡
Thanks a lot, Michael. If I have time, hopefully a couple more Roxy vids to follow shortly.
@@NachoVideo "Though it's all in vain,I'd do it all again, Just to relive a minute" Cool, I can't wait to see what other songs you'll post. ⚡

Que elegancia la de Bryan Ferry, todo un Lord inglés.
Greetings from Oregon. Nacho, so good I had to subscribe.. great job!
Thank you thank you xx
WOW!
Hadn't seen this performance before. I bet more bravado in Ferry's performance than earlier. Great song no matter what!
Real Musik!!!!
Maravilla !
👍Obrigado.
And that's how it's done!
❤❤❤
Super song from super 1975. Sums up the boy meets girl scene! Iconic sexy mid 70s!
Nice.
Damn tight band
❤❤
Smooth
🧡👏👏👏🧡
M A S T E R F U L
l like him singing he's cool
I heard this on the movie "Casino"
Dollar for dollar best band ever
Duran Duran owes much (that’s an understatement) to this.
Who was on bass? Is it John Gustaffson? 0:16 - 0:19... But he left the band in 1974... So, there is three options:
- this is not Gustaffson
- this is not the 18th of october 1975
- Gustaffson left the band later than 1974...
Ah, and another one... This is one of my favorite songs of all times))).
Gustaffson on bass.
@@NachoVideo thank you))
The back up singers are great!
they look great but they're off key
@@Lupi33z no they are not off key
I was there .
Bryan Ferry with Roxy music is the best ❤
Thank you for this! I've seen Getty Images of the backup singers referred to as the Rockettes. Weren't they the Siren's? Also the applause doesn't sound at all like it's a stadium??
Not the stadium; there is an Arena there, which held the shows. May be gone now. I drove down from Glasgow to see George Benson, probably a couple of years after this show.
Sirens
I was there
The vid quality is Amazing! ~> is this show available somewhere someway? Laserdisc? Cheers from Texas,
Billy 🏴☠️🌈💚🇺🇦🖖🏻✌️
Please read the notes in the video description
Jacquie Sullivan in all her beauty; Ferry must've enjoyed her company.
odd times -listened to new wave and punk. but wore plaide bell-bottoms and platform shoes to the prom? (probably Foghat or similar band played?)
The band is reverently enjoying their success
❤❤❤ ICON ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
PHILADELPHIA USA🇺🇲🧁🧁🩰🫀🧬🥂💖😜
1975? Really? Where the hell was I? I was still in early rock. I thought this was 80’s. But, it is great. Jeez, I have no recollection of this in 1975.
Hit the American top 40 countdown in February 1976.
That's when I first heard it.
GI Ferry 👍🎤
Bass flub at 2:53. Still an awesome performance.
Some article, somewhere back in time, referred to Bryan Ferry as "the poor Man's Mick Jagger". While I'm not overly fond of Ferry, I can't deny that his voice was perfect for this group, this 'genre' if you will.
He no one's poor man it comes to singing he's up there with Jagger and Lennon
