Great video as always Brett! It's always good to see you fishing out of your "normal" routine as I realize guiding is about getting your clients to catch multiple fish. Nice to switch it up and do something different when you get the chance. My 2 brothers and I are headed to Chamberlain next week for our annual brothers outing and will likely go to Sharpe starting with bottom bouncers and probably go to lead as I have a feeling the live bait bite may be tough. We may even initiate our youngest brother to snap jigging as he has never experienced it. Plus I'm headed to Lake Vermilion, MN for 3 weeks in September for some big walleye, northern, musky and crappie. Probably similar in your area in September when the bigger fish decide to go on their fall feeding spree.
There is a little bit of current flow but it’s more noticeable the further upstream you go and when they’re letting more water out. There is a thermal Kline, but right now it’s probably about 75 feet and will move deeper as the year progresses.
Thanks for trying something different You could have tried Ned rig in place of snap jigging since you get bored either wise. My go to style is swim baits but you don’t seem to throw them your lake Great video enjoying your content at work in Fargo
I think, from what ive seen, fish caught over 23ft should be kept. After that if you look, they have broken vessels and air bladder expanded. Just my observations.
I would say 23 seems shallow to me. Nevertheless, there's always a chance any fish can die at any depth, it just increases the deeper you go. If I'm doing videos with fairly "deep" fish, I at least leave before I catch too many of them in case they don't make it, so one way or another, I'm not either keeping or killing over my theoretical limit.
Good on ya, bestie! I’d keep them but I eat so many already I can’t keep from every video! At least if I release, there’s a chance they live. If I’m forced to fish 40, then I’m five and done in the livewell for sure.
"Hopefully my pants stay on." Priorities Brett, priorities. 😂
Still not sure which actually takes priority in this scenario.
Thumbs up to you for the nice video intro with humor.
Thanks, Lon!
Drop shot certainly works
Guess so

Well, thank you! I do tend to use a Videos for new and challenging things for me at times. Glad you enjoy it. Good luck with all of your trips!
Hope to run into you one day out on the lake
My boats in the shop haven’t used the new snap jigs we ordered from your friend on fb
Say hi if you do!
I did the same thing with my ram stabilizer. Mine fit up through the tarp Lund has cut out with a flap for the cleat.
Yeah, mine doesn't have a flap in a great spot, so this worked nice for me.
Sometimes leeches just a need quick slap 😁
Indeed!
Do you have thermocline in the lake. You must have a current flow

How in the world did you keep leaches alive this long. They have been out of season around here for almost a month.
Had a few left in the fridge for probably two weeks I suppose. Didn’t help much anyway!
Thanks for trying something different

Thanks! Swim baits work well late spring when shallower, but I haven’t cracked the code for deeper ones.

I'm not worried about you. You're my make believe bestie, remember? Anyway, I keep them cause I like fish meat!
