Thanks for making this vid! There’s barely anything on UA-cam about the grip and you’ve basically nailed everything I needed to know 😊 Hope to see more from you soon!
Exactly the video I was looking for!
Thank you zack for this review, really useful !!
Very helpful video Zack, thank you!
Thanks for this video man. Cheers!
Really dig your work man!! Good review.
Nice review. Keep them coming.
I used it for the first time a month or so ago and I loved it as well!
Dope video man!
Awesome man.
I was definitely on the fence about buying one for my 4K but this video sold me I do a lot of run-n-gun and this is definitely what I need 🙌🏾thanks man #Subed 💙
Glad I could help!
sick video man, Im ready to go too! lol cracks me up.
This is so helpful. Trying to decide between this grip and the cine-x kinobody grip that’s pretty similar but hot swappable and has mounting points etc. Much more expensive though.
Nice Vid !!! Thanks
Good work! New subscriber.
This is really high Quality
Hey man, this is how I would like to start with the BMPCC4K, the battery grip did badly in sales so the price is dropping as well. I love the idea of a DSLR vibe with a cine cam. Thanks for the video.
I like to keep everything DSLR size if I can. It makes running and gunning as a one man band so much easier. Find the set up you like and roll with it!
Can this be put on Ronin?
Who knows anyone tried this with sigma 18-35?
Have you heard about the cineX battery grip for the pockets? I guess it is not out yet but this thing excites me a little more. Thx for the video
I’ve seen other grips for BMCC with even three batteries, but wonder who good their are and if it’s worth it.
Great content just what I was looking for! Subbed!!! also what are you using on top of the camera to mount stuff without a cage
It is a Small rig top plate. There is a link in my description. I’m not a fan of cages so I think it’s the best thing I have found.
Have no idea if you'll see this, but with battery grip, does it have a 1/4 inch bottom screw thread to attach to a gimbal?
Hey man, will it mount to a ronin s2 pro?
Does it work if u want to have the gimbal attached
Just got one, for my BPCC6k, works great
what type of batteries precisely did you get?.. 2200mAH?
@@johnnjamah hey, I got the official black magic batteries.
@@philriot 3500 mah? How long does it power the camera?
Which batteries do you recommend using with this grip? Which ones have you been using?
can you use gimble with grip on
Does it balcance on your gimble
what cage thing do You have on Your camera? Peace and super video!
Hi! Which L series batteries does the grip use? The npf 970 or the 550/570? Thank you for the help in advance!
Npf330
Npf550
I appreciate the review. Do you use a dual battery charger or anything to charge the batteries at the same time?
Yeah I have an old Sony dual charger and a cheap Newer brand dual charger off amazon.
@@ZackMorrisMEDIA Thanks
Top plate for mic and grip and cfast storage and maybe sun hood for outdoors. You can’t get it any simpler.
Since there are no np 570’s available, can you mix 550’s with a 570 ?
I wouldn’t see why not.
Is that a Crane 3 there? Does the Crane 3 work with the battery grip in place?
It is a Ronin-s ... I have not put it on there yet since I do not have the offset plate. I imagine it should have no problem Depending on which lens you have on the camera.
the 4400 MaH sony np battery seems too big for this grip...right?
It uses the Np-550 batteries. I believe they are 2600mah.
You have a link for that top bracket harddrive holder thinger?
Link is in the description now!
Hey man, do you know if this works with the Tilta full cage for the Pocket 4K? Thanks and keep it up!
No it won’t. But small rig has a cage for it.
I bought one this in aliexpress, but my grip has 3 place to lp baterries
Does this work with the ronin s?
Yes
You have the exact same top plate as me! I use this cam for my weddings and have been making my rig smaller and smaller. I’ve heard mixed reviews about the battery life. Some saying 2hours and others saying barely 1.5. What are you getting out of it?
John Steele it’s between 1.5 and 2 hours. But it’s a better battery life then 1 canon battery. But the grip has better ergonomics then some other battery solution for handheld film so that’s a major selling point for me.
Zack Morris love it. Thank you for the quick reply.
What would you suggest to be the best way to get on tour with more bands when you've only been on tour once
Man that’s a whole video in it self! But really it boils down to creating and maintaining relationships with the different artist you meet while working concerts and being on the road with other artist. That and just relentlessly reaching out to artist or management of the artist you want to work with, the worst they can say is no. Keep moving forward man!
@@ZackMorrisMEDIA thanks man I appreciate that
awesome bro, how long do you think 2 full charged batteries would last?
Ezekiel Sullano i can get through a full 90 minute concert with two fully charged batteries. This is stop start recording and not continuous.
@@ZackMorrisMEDIA awesome, thats a whole lot better than the canon ones
Does this work with moza air 2?
I am not sure I have never used that gimbal. I would assume it would with a small lens.
Work on the 6k pocket?
Yes sir it does! Use my link in the description to buy a couple!
How do you mount the hard drive holder to the top plate?
It is a small rig top plate and ssd holder. It’s also linked in the description.
@@ZackMorrisMEDIA Is it the 2245B or 2245? Because the two have different screws to attach to the side of the top plate. It is not clear whether the top playe takes the 1/4 screw or the m4 screws?
Aleksandar Kuraica I guess the new version takes the 1/4 screws. Mine is the older version and takes m4. Both can fit in the top plate .
Do it come with batteries in the box ?
No it does not.
Honestly better off with a V-Mount Battery. Lasts longer and you can power more stuff like monitor or follow focus.
In some cases yes. But for how I shoot not so much.
How long they hold the charge i mean with battery grip...
If you have good battery’s..well over an hour.
I've had about 2 hours total before I have to change the batteries
will this work if i have a cage on?
Small Rig has a cage designed for it now that you can pre order.
@@ZackMorrisMEDIA put link
i just bought this but I don't like that I can't leave it plugged charging while i'm filming on a tripod. huge bummer. I like this grip for when im out of the studio, but in the studio i have to take it off. ugh.
Thanks for the heads-up! 😯👍🏽
@ yeah basically in order to run the camera off 12V you have to have the original canon LP battery in - can't have a dummy battery or the battery grip.
@@jordankaiwright The camera will not even recognize that an external power source is plugged in - I have to detach the battery grip, put in the original battery, then plug back in to external for the camera to run off external. ...but with that being said, I now love this battery grip for the go. it's totally worth the inconvenience of removing it for the studio, because for the run and gun shooting having the larger grip helps with holding the camera, in addition to the battery life is amazing. 2 hours solid with this.
I don't know if it's a software issue but I just got my battery grip and my bmpcc 4k works just fine with charging and shooting at the same time while the battery grip attached.
Thank you so fed up of people just attaching v locks but i hate rigging up my camera like that
Can you have it on with a gimbal? Great video!
TyRae with the right lens...yes it’s similar in size to a 1dxmkiii.
@@ZackMorrisMEDIA Dope! and it takes Watson NP-F550 Lithium-Ion Batteries? Thanks for your replies
Yes, I have 7 batteries (odd number but I’m lazy hand haven’t ordered an 8th) and that is plenty for a day. I have them links in the description.
@@ZackMorrisMEDIA Dope. I'm for sure getting this, just wanted to make sure i got everything right. I appreciate this video, the lack of reviews on this is weird. Will do my own because of it.
The only issue I see is I won't be able to attach it to my fly cam stabilizer because there is no screw on the grip
There is still a quarter twenty thread on the bottom of the grip.
@@ZackMorrisMEDIA oh wow! I didn’t see it. Thanks I’m deffo buying one now!
with the grip, you have some kind of problem with the current to feed the ssd
sorry for my english, i'm colombian
I have zero issues with the ssd.
@@ZackMorrisMEDIA which batteries do you recommend? How many batteries do you recommend to have for a good use of the grip?
What?! So you buy 200$ for just a case and there are not even batteries in it?
only thing is 250 for a battery grip is not cheap
You are right. But in the world of battery grips it’s about average. Other battery solutions for the bmpcc4k/6k are about the same and others that are coming out are way more expensive. For my style of shooting it is well worth the cost.
No good for me can’t use a gimbal or a cage with it
omeka falconburn small rig actually has cage for it now.
There is a cage by Smallrig I actually own it
battery life?
Over an hour.
Zack Morris 😢
insanedb that’s not terrible at all.
@@ZackMorrisMEDIA 3 batteries should give you over 2 hr
But it’s only two batteries with the grip.
