- Think bobber fishing is just for little kids, small fish, or freshwater? I am here to prove you wrong! Bobber fishing is a really fun way to catch all kinds of fish wherever you go! I have a bunch of different, large bobbers to use on my slip float rig today and we’re trying for some nice-sized fish to keep for dinner. What size bobber do you like to use? Comment below!
Today, I am fishing with my dad, Erin, and some other friends who are around and we’re all using a slip float rig. I’ve heard that a float rig is the best thing to use in this area to catch some nice-sized trout. Let’s see if I get any to bring home to my Grandma today!

I LOVE big giant floats for saltwater. Especially mackerel season. I can pull 12-20 fish out a day!
Way to pass on the skills and the knowledge Brandon!!! Great to see you all out there together!!
perfect for live lining peanut bunker up in the NE coast off the pier.
Yes!! saltwater bobber fishing
I grew up in Eastern Europe fishing the river with bobber's 90% of the time just like all the other fishermen in the area.We used fishing rods (without reels) that extended to 4-6 meters. Some used even longer rods but i liked 4-5 m usually. This video brought me back some really good childhood memories.
Using split shots you can’t make depth adjustments as they don’t go thru the guides
6:25 always takes me by surprise you dad dropping dank jokes, deadpan.
Big like bro thanks for toturial how tu use bobber..nice sharing bro..i am from sabah malaysia
I’ve learned more from this channel than any other. Young really does teach, not click bait! My family actually catches fish when we go to the Gulf using his techniques! And most of my favorite episodes have “ the old man” in them. He adds a new dimension to the videos in a good way, mainly because I’m the old man in my kids’ lives.
Thanks for the tip on tie int my own slip knot
Love video. Thanks for the info on bombers. There are so many on the market. Keep those videos coming. Can't wait till next Thursday
A round of applause for an outstanding video! Tight lines!
They also work well for fresh water to cast far
Thanks for the video. i find these bobbers all the time in tackle boxes I buy in flea markets.
Thanks, definitely this video changes my fishing 👍👍👍🙏
The bobber stopper can also be a very small split shot. I find that it’s way quicker to set up, and works just as well
thats a great suggestion
Can you adjust that split shot ?
Thanks for sharing Skipper...
Really cool rig
Guana is my favorite spot in north Florida. great choice
Great fishing video and great tips
In Missouri, we use bobbers all the time to catch panfish. It was great to see how the setup is for saltwater.
You are a great teacher! Thanks!
One more fish for grandma, I like that 👍👍👍
Im always watching😊
from philippines
Great information
We use balloons for live bait. Especially live bunker. Nice video
Your dad is so cool you should have him do a video
I use floats here for saltwater, heaps! Love em so much, but theyre hard to find in that style. We use em for Australian Herring, Garfish, mostly, but you could also use em for tailor (aka bluefish).
👋fromSC you guys Rock!! its great seeing you both out together Sharing what you love to do keep the vids going "I really enjoy watching "
I find your videos super informative and fun. Keep up the good work
Cool video and definitely some interesting bobbers. Whenever I travel to a different area to fish, like from inland fresh water to the coast, I make it a point to check out the tackle shops, Academy, and Walmart. The stuff they sell tips you off on what works in that area and it varies by location.
what an awesome tutorial!!!
Nice fish 🐠
I love big bobbers!
Great video thanks
I always enjoy these types of rigs. Depth is never an issue. As you basically have your whole reels worth.
I always just check the weight of the sinker. Rather have it sit low than lop sided. Also keeps it rather set in place. Avoid false strikes.
And better than a uni knot at and a beed is just a soft neoprene bead. Also called gummy beads.
Works like a charm
This was a very pleasant video to watch
Penn vi 4500 or 5500 vs Shimano you will not be disappointed on Penn!🤙🤙🤙
Awesome video! I've been having a lot of success with this float rig using live crabs, shrimp, sand fleas, fish, and salty squid.
Can you help me with it
this is the vid i was looking for thx.
need to come use those floats with me for gar in Texas
Slip bobers is my favorite. Small to big depending on condition of the water 💧
Please how to calculate the depth. Hook length
Great info
One thing about floaters, especially styrofoam is that some soft plastic lures actually have some sort of reactions to the styrofoam if you leave the soft plastic touching it , I have one floater that the soft plastic actually melted away some of the floater all the way down to the built in weight , and the soft plastic lure didn’t have any damage to it , only to the styrofoam
Same thing will happen with gasoline. Had a styrofoam cooler behind a small gas can. Bumpy water, flying gas, didn't pay attention to the cooler. When I got to my destination, had 1/2 a styrofoam cooler! The gas had melted the front of the cooler to the base! The rear of cooler to my sight- untouched.
I've never fished with bobberd but looks like I'll be giving this a try
Something bout that float going down!! The old "float-hi-glo" floats where the best. This is the only way people used to fish.
I love your yt Videos
Da killing zone!! Hahah your pops is the man!! Lol
Old school bobber rig is a killer if used in the right situation
Cant agree more
G'day mate yep i like the smaller floats as well
Nice video Brendan
My fav is the traditional one that makes a pop, it also sounds like a baitfish being hit on or bird swooping down and hitting bait to it sometimes helps get the extra bite in my opinion
Mantap...👍
that’s a great spot to fish i get big reds there
I was waiting for you guys to post this video. Thank you. You guys change my way of fishing in Hawaii 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
I live and fish in Hawaii to
Are you guys still under Tsunami watch?
@@dstallard5673 yeah

I live fish and hunt in Hawai’i 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Killing zone or A,K,A dinner time! LOL
I use slip bobbers on everything from perch to catfish.
🎥🌲Thank you for sharing your videos today best wishes from Canada to you 🎥🦅🌲🦨🦅🌲🦌🌲
Wow interesting looking bobbers! You can land aircrafts with those things! Very effective technique and landed some keepers....you're right very stable. Man I hope you guys are enjoying being down here...I like that house you're staying at and best of all you have a canal in your very backyard! looks so relaxing! How long you guys staying in Florida? Hopefully you're not leaving next weekend...that's when you're going to get the most phenomenal fishing...😉
Excellent 👋👋👋🇮🇷
So you’ve fished the skyway fishing pier, and there are rock piles out there the thing is to set the depth so your bait is above the rock piles but high enough so the bait doesn’t get into the rocks and snag you up , the depth varies with the tide going out ,
I do see lots of older fishermen using the larger floats ... 👍🇺🇸🇬🇾
Actually a great vid
How does this rig work at piers with lots of snags and rocks? Should be able to suspend the bait just over the snags but still close enough for fish on the bottom to get it?
If it's a busy, wavy, tidal pier... I would advise using a big round bobber with heavy weight so it can stay visible and not move too much. You can also try a method where u tie the weight to the bottom of the leader drop shot style. This way it can get snagged but still present bait. Be sure to tie the weight to a much weaker line than your leader, so you can break it off in a snag and keep the fish. That's my 2c from float fishing a few years. It's both a maddening ad satisfying experience. But I wouldn't advice when fishing with others using other methods as it tends to get in their way sooner or later due to wind and current. So most of the time you are repositioning and fiddling
Does are some big mega bobbers
Try dental floss to make the stopper knot, and use beeds with conic hole. The knot with that material don't mess with the guides and get in the beed protected. Keep that type of fishing, Is very productive. 💪
Wow those are big bobbers
Hey skipper, I have been slide bobbing for 3 years now. One tip to help with tangles on long casts with big floats is to split the weight so half is closer to the hook, as close as possible. Or use some slpit shot near the hook or a weighted jig hook. This way it flies as far and as hard as u can through without that 'whiplash' that tangles the leader and bait around the swivel and float. Another tip is to use bait elastic on your shrimp and even live bait, so you cast cast far with confidence. Also some glo in the dark paint or spray is awsone for night fishing. Spray the float or super glue a glo stick to the float. It's the most satisfying thing to see your green light dissappear in complete darkness. Bigger float, longer rod. Small spaces, small float and short spinner. I have also floated lures and jigs but at that point it was overkill for setup time 😂. But please do an episode on jigging and lures close to bottom or Rocky areas with a float. Maybe u find an easy and fun way to do it! Edit: also try drop shot float with a bit of slow retrieve action. The weight at the bottom makes this a tangle free experience with no snags
Or drop shot float, no tangles and cast for miles
Oh and also use excess heavy weight to measure depth before fishing! When u see the float don't sink, u know u have bottom. Then finesse the depth u want to fish from there. Use a permanent black marker to mark you line for the float stopper depths.
The best part of your videos is your dad. Lol
I use little black rubber bobber stoppers that you put on first before you put on the rest of the gear. You can get them at a tackle store or Walmart.
Tks for a great video. Do you or anyone out there have any advice for bobber fishing in windy choppy water conditions like off a jetty in a bay or harbour when the water is not calm and in windy conditions. Does one use a long or short bobber/pencil bobber?
Spectacular episode. I'm going to try your bobber system this summer. Thank you ... I'm in Maine but where do you get LIVE shrimp for bait?
THE KILLING ZONE!! 😂😂
Love slip bobbers. Easy to avoid bottom debris, and can keep your bait moving with the flow of the water. No need for finesse.
thank you so much my friend.how to make.
The editing is excellent big congratulations to you and your family ☺
Just switched over my storage system to 7 Buzbe 15s. Most flexible setup ever!!
It be nice to know where you got the smaller green bobbers you usually use in your videos
I use big floats like that for big Canadian pike in the spring. A 10" herring and some lead, work the bobber like a topwater and twitch the bait every couple minuets. That excruciating wait when the bobber goes down, while you wait for the right moment to set the hook and wonder if its a 40" er, for me theres nothing like it.
👍👍
Love your videos. Very simple was of fishing
I need a tackle box like that one, have you considered selling set ups, like you do with your salty bits?
3:25 is your uni knot for the stopper braid or mono on main line braid?
Love your videos, thank you for sharing. I’ve been interested if circle hooks will work under a bobber? Lately I’ve needed to release a few fish with hooks in them and would like to lessen my impact on these fish. Do you ever use circle hooks with bobbers? Other than a few catfish videos with circle hooks and bobbers I haven’t found any on you tube.
Wade, you can use circles under bobbers. I have used them for freshwater. I had a steep learning curve on hook setting timing. Catfish Dave has an older vid on youtube.com where he uses big floats and basically lets the float and fish do the hook set. Good luck.
@@bluesdad54 Thank you! Circle hooks have been a steep learning curve for me without a bobber. I’ve been using the wrong ones and still setting the hook sometimes. Getting better though. One thing I’ve learned is the line needs to be in the corner of the mouth. I was thinking when the fish pulls the bobber down or going away from you, the line might already be in the corner of its mouth. Just need to reel tight with the rod pointed at the bobber instead of setting the hook. I’ll get to try my theory one of the days.
Hey Brendon (or anyone that can give me some tips),
How do you break down your gear after a day of fishing? (especially after fishing in salt water*)
Do you hose your reel and rod down with some clean water, do you take all the fishing line off the rod that was used, do you leave it as is, do you cut the leader line and start with a fresh one next time, etc etc etc.
Would love to know more about this process so i can maintain my rods and minimize rookie mistakes. All tips and tricks welcomed! 👍
U need to come to the uk 🇬🇧 👍
Guana
What do you think about the traditional round bobber?
Wanted to let you know I ordered the stickers and I'll be ordering from you in the future
Seems like a lot of trouble to rig a float. I think I'll just stick to lure fishing. If I don't catch fish on an outing then maybe I was not meant to catch fish on that outing
I’ve never seen someone rig a slip float like this lol
Skipper which cooler is the red and white one in your conclusion? It’s the Perfect size to carry for fishing jetty’s.
perfect size for you to eat but your bringing it home to grandma right so confusing LOL nice day fishing. do spoons work on a deep drop off ocean fishing and what size of spoon would be best to use 15g 20g?
Hello Skipper does freshwater bait work to fish in saltwater?
😀👍🎣
Who is the winner in your give away
penak men uripmu mancing nggone penak penak broow
😮 that bobber must have some weigh to it lols the throwing part would it fly farther
@HeySkipper where can you find those large and XL floats?
Hey cap I need some quick tips for Saturday.im turning 16 and were going fishing on a charter iive been before but I just like you tips. So got any for me love the vids
Just curious why you drag your fish across the sand before lifting it up to remove the hook?
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing! May I know where online that I can purchase these bobbers?
Itu pelampungnya besar sekali bosku.. Kalau di coba di pancing saya bisa patah tiga ne Pancing saya
In general, if you choose a long float of 15 grams, you use an olive sinker of 15 grams or less? Thank you
i like a root beer float
