I know this is a made up video, but it's happened to me in real life. This kid, who was about 12 was hanging around in my fishing site, tangling my lines etc. I got worked up about it until I really LOOKED, and saw that he knew next to nothing about surf fishing. And coming from east Texas I knew a bass rig when I saw it. So I took him under my wing and showed him how to rig a small Carolina rig, and let him use some of my Fishbites. He opened up as only kids can do and pretty soon I learned that he was in a fatherless household, and that this was the first time he'd been to the coast. He caught a few Whiting, which thrilled him to no end, and I told him about your channel and others to learn from. It chokes me up now a few years later to think how close I came to ruining this boy's first attempt to spread his fishing wings down at Matagorda Texas. He was just a little boy who was looking for a father figure, to teach him manly things. You have no idea how seemingly small gestures you make in life produce ripples through the water that last a lifetime.
I always help people when I get the chance you never know when you're going to meet them again and they might help you. Life is funny that way so always be kind
Way to go man! Good for you to stay cool calm and collected and to teach him the right way. Trust me I get it when people try to invade it’s very frustrating. Great video brother!
I was in Baja and bumped into a guy running a 1/0 and hook above the weight and he was out for atleast 3 hrs and he didn’t catch anything and I set up my rod with a Carolina rig with a size 6 hook (nothing big only small perch in water) and I walked up first cast and got my first fish in under 2 minutes and my 2nd in the next 3min and guy got upset and I showed him how to rig up and set him up with hooks and bait and got him on 4fish before dark under an hr and had a blast fishing together Like you said be kind and share knowledge make a friend not an enemy
Ive had this happen so many times, it always warms my heart to help snowbirds and people who know nothing about surf fishing and other types of fishing
This reminds me of when I took one of my co workers out fishing. He was a tough marine war vet so I figured he could fish. When we got out I noticed he had almost a toy like fishing pole and did not now how to tie a proper knot. I thought him to tie a knot and use a roaster tail type bait and he ended up catching a 5 pound trout and while he was reeling it in his eyes started to tear up and he got so excited like a little boy would catching his first fish. It was amazing seeing this tough man that has seen so much get so excited and happy. I was thankful that I could create that moment for him and I know he will never forget that moment. On the drive home he explained to me that he did not have a father figure growing up and that he has always wanted to go fishing and catch a fish.
Yes, this is a good guy. I ran into him last year at 3am on a Palatka dock cast netting for giant shrimp. He is the same in person as he is in (reel) life.
Good video. I love how you didn't just stand in front of the camera and explain everything. You had a guy act like a noob and taught him everything. Great video.
How about going to the beach, walking miles to find a spot where there are no people bathing, set up, and within 15 minutes folks show up and go swim within 10 feet of where your rods are??? Had this exact situation happen more than once here in Ecuador. Very annoying when literally having to walk miles again to find another deserted area.
It's like folks here have absolutely no idea how fishing with rods work. No clue about the line with hooks in the water that can tangle up with the folks swimming. Not even mentioning them spooking the fish guaranteeing I can't catch anything. Besides that, I set up usually right where there is a riptide going out to open ocean, which could just drag the bathers out to sea.
@@vic40171 It really amazes me that people don't seem to put 1 and 1 together. "Hey, some one is fishing, that means there are hooks in the water, maybe I shouldnt't go swim right there." Or, "hmm if I go swim I will spook away the fishes, aybe I shouldn't swim next to someone that is fishing".
I wish all fisherman or woman would learn from you I know I did sometimes I get annoyed and end up with a attitude I am a great fisherman fished many different places so again (Mahalo) Thank you in HAWA'N.... Aloha VA'LE'OE HAWA'N ROCK ❤
I would love to see you do more videos like this I'm beginning myself and I am looking for advice all the time through the internet and I can almost see myself as this gentleman. I also think your cocky because of your knowledge of fishing and that's expected but how you were able to help someone was the great part of this video
And yes i know it was scripted but maybe you can invite a few followers out there to the places your gonna fish and make good content and you won't even have to script it
See that’s proper fishing etiquette, just start a conversation. If the person doesn’t seem like they’re interested in talking, then move on. I learned a lot from talking to other fisherman that I met while fishing. Between watching videos like his, and talking to these other fishermen, that’s how I learned everything I needed to know to get all of the basics. This channel has some great information and tips, but talking to as many locals as you can will give you a lot of insight into what you can catch in the area and what the fish are biting.
This is an awesome video. I usually avoid ‘satire’ vids but this is legit a teaching lesson which means sooo much to me being a fishing noob. So far I’m enjoying your channel very much! Hope yall travel to some of the jetties near Galveston soon ❤
Awesome! If you found this helpful you gotta check out my website, I custom make a ton of gear to help you with your next fishing trip! www.heyskipperfishing.com 😄
thanks! Happy you enjoy our content. Have you seen all of the fishing gear we sell? Check out my website, we have a ton of new fishing products to help you.
I almost fell for the video, until i saw he was using your old Sargosa reel and rod. also same microphone. I think this is very informative to new fishermen.
Its not a real incident , but it surely the correct / proper positive method and attitude we shall all have..with people and other potential newbie fisherman 😅
So im shooting a video on the beach and Spider-man walks right up on my spot. Was waiting for him to shoot web at the fish and yank them onto the beach.
I just started to learn how to fish and I had a older gentleman come up to me and at the beach and to time to teach a couple ties going to message him to go fishing some time thanks for the videos learning a lot from your videos
I have been lucky when it comes to not catching sharks but I was crabbing today and a lady hooked about a 2 1/2 foot bull shark. Me and some random guy who was there fishing helped her out by unhooking and releasing it for her. Not before a few photos were taken of course.
This dosen't bother me i would actually enjoy teaching someone how to fish more than catching one myself seeing someones reaction to catching their first fish is always worth it
you need a penn fisher 10500 and put it on your 13ft rod for shark fishing it puts down 40 pounds of drag and holds 750 yards of 50 pound braid, i have one and it has done a fabulous job in handling big fish and its great for deep sea fishing
I once hooked on a juveile goliath grouper from a peir, then some random kids threw their handlines right over my line and cut my line, lost the rig, and the fish
this reminds me of when i started, i had no idea what to use and where untill i watched your videos lol i believe you were meant to meet this dude to help him
Hi, Bro; always pleased to watch your excellent video containing hands full of fun. It will be great if you can add some info as to where & when the activity occurred.
40+ years of been a rock fishing angler its a hectic place when people... sometimes... that have no idea!!! of fishing rules, ive had a guy and his miss's pull a knife for straight up fish under me off the rocks huge swell who when casting would hit the tip of my rod just nuts.....and herd of local fishing spot were people have been killed for fishing off the jetty in someones spot !!! its a dangerous sport how it is let alone people who clearly should stay home, its nice to help others that clearly are learning to fish just like you have
Could you make a video of stock trout's? I watch your videos from 7 years ago and could you give more tips/advice. For example, right rods, lines, and baits? A friend of mine been using stripper rods and 25lbs lines with power baits yet recommended him to watch your videos. It will be helpful if you can, thank you!
Howzit HS-love this vid 🫶🏽-I put out a UA-cam vid a few weeks ago where some kooks trying to surf tangled our lines-I went on an epic rant in that one😂-We were there first but many people don’t know the rules of the beach-more vids like this hopefully will help to educate beach goers as to what a fishing pole in a sand spike means….Much Aloha 🤙🏽-also I use your t-knot drop loop with the coffee straw arm rig in a lot of my fishcam vids and it works!! I got great fishcam footage of hookups-you are truly a Lawai’a(fisherman in Hawaiian) Sensei! Much Aloha 💯🫶🏽🤙🏽
Nice acting guys...I knew it's was a movie setup to teach the idiot in surf-fishing...what beach & city is it?Love your electric bike moving around in long distance...too bad southern California has no place for surf-fishing
A few weeks ago i was fishing next to this mum and her son and i was using plastics and they had bait on nearly every cast i was hooking up and i could hear the boy saying to hes mum that i wish i could catch fish like him so i asked the mum if i could help him catch one i gave him my rod and showed him how to work the lure and second cast in he was hooked on he couldn't believe it they joy and excitement made my day more then actually fishing myself
Happened to me too. I had my dunking line in the water. Some Hawaiian guy comes and lands his line across mine. Of course we got a minor tangle. He did apologize though. Some of these people have no common sense.
I spent a summer in Alaska fishing on my days off and fished a river mouth going into the ocean and the only lure I used all.summer was a Pixie spoon catching mostly Dolly Garden trout. Whenever I let the lure go down to the bottom I would catch fish that were like catfish with bumps growing on them I don't remember what they were called. When I spent one day in town before I flew back I was using fish parts from the fisherman and catching flounder and starfish off the dock mostly using a spin-n-glow.
Okay, you took a chance, and the guy turned out to be okay. Glad you taught him the right way to fish the ocean. Now maybe he will keep fishing, the right way. I help other fishermen out when I can too. I also carry lots of extra tackle with me. If you can help some one, do so. Its the way of the Fishermen.

This is so beautiful, that you so much for sharing this! And thank you for choosing kindness over being rude. I know it’s difficult.
I always help people when I get the chance you never know when you're going to meet them again and they might help you. Life is funny that way so always be kind
He was just a boy. And you were the EXACT man he needed at that time. I get choked up just reading this. Bad ass bro. You are a bad ass. ❤
Fantastic Mt... Good job... Kid will always remember the 1st time he went fishing n met this great guy who helped him out... x❤x 🎉🎉
Good man! A story I'll keep in mind for sure.
😂Almost fell for it, masked man has a microphone 😂😂
I noticed that, too! 😂
Jaja but it was a gud video , thats true what he said all facts , learned something new 😅
Haha glad you still enjoyed it:)
😂😂😂
😂😂 yoooo!!! I realized literally 5 seconds before reading this comment
"I came out here feeling like zero but I'm felling like a fishing hero." This will forever be rent free in my mind
This PSA should be televised and playing on every crowded fishing spot 🔥👏

That was too funny!😂. And such a fun way to make a point and teach a lesson. Good job!
This stuff happens on the river and lakes. This is a great video
Great video.
yes! Perfect and this awareness is needed so much! Thanks!
You took a situation where it cou.d have been confrontational and instead turned it into a learning experience. A very mature attitude on your part.
Dont be the guy that wares a red ski mask and uses a spinning reel like a bait caster or you'll be swimming with the fishes😂
The Wirless Mic Was A Give Away 😂😂😂 Nice try u got me lol
This should have been the Super Bowl halftime show. Though it’s intentional and for educational purposes, it’s funny.
Title should be" How to Not get Knocked out when fishing" 😂😂
You’re so nice to help that guy. Keep up the kind spirit.
Thank you!

The fact the masked man was “micd up” was a dead giveaway . Still, cool video!
Thanks Brandon for the lesson, so once I find the hole, just keep at it?? I haven't caught "fish" in a long time either! ha ha ha
Good vid!

Where you get the brown jacket from skip? It’s 🔥🔥🔥
You did a good skit there. Great job.
No need for fake stuff in your video s, it takes away the magic of being real and that s your great strength

This happens to me almost every time I fish. It amazes me how clueless and rude some “great fishermen” are.
Made a new friend and fan
Here in Morocco once you catch a fish everybody Come next to you
Twice I’ve had guys actually cast right over my head.
I knew it was fake when the Masked Fisherman tried to jam his rod into the sand. NOBODY is that clueless.
it’s just a skit 😉😊

Not for nothing , I used 2 plastic frogs and used them for blues.🤣🤣🤣 it worked.
One off the best video❤
Wow thank you!
No way that's a real random guy. You Must have hired that guy Skip! Must!
Wait...just read the microphone comment. Can't believe I fell for that.😖 "fishing hero, not a..."😅
Hehe
Just a coincidence that the guy was miked up before walking over to him bro?
Clever!
