Oh yes Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time is definitely one of the hardest video games of all time. I got it for Chrimbo in 2020 but I still haven't finished it yet. I think I'm stuck on Dr. Neo Cortex in one of the prehistoric levels. I am still taking a break from playing it. I've played Celeste on Steam via Microsoft Windows before. It's really challenging, isn't it? The character Madeline herself looks really cute. I used to have Donkey Kong Country Returns for the Nintendo Wii. I got it for Chrimbo 2010. Sadly I decided to sell it to Cex for cash about couple of years ago. By the way I collected everything. It's really challenging as well. Anyway, greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪

Donkey Kong Country Returns Honourable mentions Donkey Kong Country 2 Donkey Kong Country 3 Super Meat Boy (as a flash internet game) Chameleon Kid
The Lion King on the SNES. The lava level is the most brutal level with many 1 hit kills in it. You also only get a certain amount of lives and continues before you have to start from the very beginning.
Oh man I hated that level. The last two levels aren't TOO bad but the "Be Prepared" level with the lava (inside a volcano??) had so many easy ways to lose a life and was all about timing. Definitely the hardest level in the game for sure!
@@crobeastness I was thinking that at first, but a couple games on here fit a similar mode. Like Mega Man. Contra has some platform elements such as Mega Man. And if that made it, this can as well. Both have vertical sections, upper and lower sections, a variety of levels. I'm just playing the rules given to me.
@@JigInsaneI feel like mega man has a much higher focus on level design, while contra has a higher focus on shooting. contra is closer to a shmup than it is to a platformer.
@jclkaytwo7789 trust me, I'm not arguing that Contra is a pure platformer, hell I wouldn't even really consider Mega Man one. They have some elements, like in Contra, there are jumps that can be very costly, even without the bullets flying. There's still strategy to making it to higher, mid or lower ground and jumping around for various power ups and placement. There are also pits etc. The stages have platformer designs, some don't, but most do. If this was my list, neither mega man or contra would be viable lol, but just going by the inclusion of, especially the original mega man games, Contra could be a part. Especially if Super C, or a few others are considered.
WOW, I've played a few games on this list, but the only one I've actually finished was #1, Ghosts N Goblins for the NES. Totally mind numbing experience as it took me a day and a half to get it done. Not that I put that amount of time in to it exactly, but once I reached the end and saw I had to finish it twice, I paused the system overnight. I can't even remember how many times I replayed some of those levels, as you to get some of them just right to get past, totally brutal and then some. To this day it's still one of my top gaming achievements that I'm most proud of.

Ghosts 'n Goblins Resurrection is a modern sequel that came out last year and its super duper hard, but once you figure it out its one of the most rewarding experiences ever. jump king and pogo stuck is also some hard platformers I feel like kind of got looked over a little
I was waiting for Faxanadu or 8 Eyes. Both very old games, and were pain in the rear to play. Both were on the original NES.
You should add Steelrats not only it's challenging but tough too even the final boss.

Kid Icarus has always seemed impossible to me but maybe it’s just because it isn’t fun enough to keep trying 😅
