There's an issue in your script for the sponsorship "this _expansion_ was initially designed for only underwater combat," instead of "this weapon" or "the spear," making it sound like Janthir Wilds was originally going to be an underwater expansion. Which is not the case. "Freely swap between aquatic and terrestrial weapon skills" is misleading at best.
"Look at the bowl cut on that guy - absolute Gigachad" Bushy, I think you've stumbled onto a sentence that has literally never been uttered before in the history of the English language.
Lmao bro... Between the "the fire knight goes in the square hole" followed right into totally trolling me with the segue into the GW2 ad... I died laughing.
It's really funny how whenever I use Fingercreeper I yell at it to stop attacking and start healing, but here it's the complete opposite. Great run lmao.
Not sure why, but whenever @bushy calls the summons "my boy" it's funny every time. Has been doing this in summon videos for a couple years and it makes me laugh every time.
What matters most in a spirit ash (to me at least) is the emotional connection. This is why the only dlc spirit ashes that matter to me are Huw and the fingercreeper. They are my brother-in-arms and son respectively and I would burn the world for them.
Regarding Jolan summon for Messmer: I did end up testing on 2 separate characters and it is simply quest progress being skipped if you don’t talk to Ymir after visiting only one finger ruin, as talking when you visit both changes the quest state too far along
Since that dragon is coded to fight another dragon it's highly likely that From coded it to gave a shitload of resistance to enemy npcs and just forgot that spirit summons were included in that.
i love how for most of the taylew vs messmer fight messmer was pulling out entire combos on taylew only for them to do about 200 damage and get healed instantly by bushy. at 38:20 base serpent messmer hits taylew with the power of a bullet train 3 times only for taylew to shrug it off and hit an absolutely dastardly 3 hit combo of his own
That move is supposed to be a grab, incidentally, which only works against NPCs. The hit itself doesn't really do much damage because it's supposed to initiate a grab.
I’m sure Bushy already saw this, but I think to summon Jolan for the Messmer fight, you have to do the second finger ruins past that shaman village with all the flowers and double tree sentinel. You can summon her there, and I think that’s the step before being able to summon her at Messmer
@@NotMixYeah I assume most people who don't use summons are kinda like me. I don't use summons since I enjoy fighting bosses 1v1. It's just my personal playstyle. I don't call other people bad for using them.

More tools that could help for this type of run: The aow of Commanders Standard is an aura buff, so sadly not compatible with Golden Vow, but is actually stronger than Golden Vow for buffing allies. Especially for more stationary summons like Taylew, the Golden Land aow can help, as it creates a small zone where you and allies both receive increased resistances and a good amount of healing. The Regal Ancestor Spirits remembrance weapon has an aow that creates an area where enemies take 30% more damage. (Supposedly it's bugged rn though, and only does 15% increase which is the value meant for pvp)
Hearing Bushy say at 11:18 that this was a fun way to play made this video a real joy to watch. Some of these challenge runs look like pure hell and there is a some enjoyment in watching him suffer, but I'm glad that he had some fun with this.
Andreas is my favorite summon. He tanks hits pretty well imo, puts out dmg, staggers enemies pretty well with help from the player, and is a pretty good. I like fighting with him cause it feels like going at a boss with a friend who's tanking hits and killing shit alongside you
The problem with the Jagged Peak Drake that locks Igon is that since it fights another Drake, Fromsoft gave it 98% DR on attacks from NPCs like Ornis or the Gravebird so that people can't just cheese the fight by letting one whittle down the other
This challenge is wild! 😂 I can totally see those summons having a therapy session after all this chaos. How do you even keep a straight face while fighting? Gotta love how they just go all out, like they're in a movie or something! 🎬
Fun fact: the regular finger seal outscales the erdtree seal until your faith is at 69 (nice) or somewhere close to that. Edit: As it's been pointed out to me, the god slayer seal technically scales highest until 69 (still nice) pure faith, where the erdtree seal will become better at 70 and onwards
nah like the other guy said godslayer is actually best (of the base game seals anyway) until high 60s, but yea after like 67-70 faith erdtree seal is better, and finger seal is only best for pure faith at such a low faith level that its just better to use godslayer anyway since theyre both regular smithing stone seals. Even just using dragon communion and leveling just enough faith to use what spells you want and putting the rest into arcane until you respec to use erdtree later is better than finger early game
Honestly a little surprised he didn't use the "Didn't have the bell" part of the dancing lion fight to say a quick "Make sure YOU ring the bell to stay up to date on uploads"
My guess as to why they did so little damage is that the Drake takes decreased damage from other enemies (to ensure that it doesn’t die to the other drake) and I’m guessing that applies to summons as well
The jagged peak drake has some script that makes him ultra tough for anything but player so that he doesn't die from the other drake he's fighting, and ig it also includes summons lmao.
I know most people have already pointed this out, but the reason why summons were doing so little damage to the Jagged Peak Drake is because he has crazy high NPC damage resistance. Similarly to Demon of Hatred from Sekiro, he has enemies in his arena fighting him, so they gave him insane negation from damage dealt by NPCs to avoid the boss being soloed for you.
I'm 30 minutes into this video and Bushy still hasn't learned he can look a little bit down when casting Heal From Afar so it doesn't miss his summon...
I think the final tier-list/assessment is fairly accurate even compared to the base game summons. A lot of the newbies look cool but they just can't hang. Taylew and Florissax honestly I find to be the best of the bunch, Jolan & Anna are good (but seemingly bugged) as is the Inquisitor, but better as backup/support for relieving some pressure. Still, Tiche, Lhutel, Mimic, Dung Eater, and my clanky boy Kristoff are (especially with the revered ashes upgrade) still more than capable of stomping their way through the DLC just as easily as they did the base game.
Been liking these videos just finished my 1st playthrough of elden ring and you appeared in my feed and these challenges are very interesting and unique
I don’t even need to think about watching this to know Bushy will have zero problems with this challenge. Having said that, I’m going to watch every minute of it.
Honestly if there was some mod or something that lets you summon anywhere, you should just use that for this sort of challenge. It'd definitely make things simpler like the free upgrades you were using.
love to see a man who has put so much into a game still be baffled by basic game mechanics, and get mad when the game doesn't let him summon npcs that solo bosses by themselves
The reason that jagged peak drake was taking like no damage is because he has a lot of defense towards npcs. Thus why he shows up fighting another drake, that way that drake doesn’t solo him.
