No wonder he was struggling during some of those bosses. All the people in chat are saying Golden Parry is the best parry in the game or tied for the best with Carian Retaliation when the DLC patch completely changed parry frames. It’s tied for the WORST parry in the game now, has the exact same frames as a bunch of the awful weapon parries like curved sword. Carian has 50% more active frames than current Golden, it’s literally 50% easier to land. And lol a couple chatters got like, really mad at one person for suggesting Buckler Parry when that’s the second best parry now behind Carian Retaliation, and it has the shortest recovery. People really need to stop speaking confidently about things they’re completely wrong about and assuming this game that is actively being patched and rebalanced is the same as it was two years ago
@@ChaCha-zy4mo It is him! He is credited in the description of this video by "Thumbnail" I also want to add that the art is very well done, great job Mustakro!
It only took Aggy 2 years to learn that the AoW Buckler Parry is what gives the buckler a more forgiving parry, not the shield itself. Once you switch to Golden Parry or Carian Retaliation, it behaves like a normal shield.
ZeroLenny did a run of just using the deflecting hardtear guard counter run of both the DLC and the Base Game. I highly recommend it for those who liked this run
@@kebabruh 5 minute is all you need for a boss fight, I struggle to see how you would need more than 5 minute unless you’re doing a rl1 no weapon upgrade run
Tip for anyone who is interested in learning to parry: For many attacks, you have to look at the enemy's hand, not their weapon to get the timing right.
Honestly the deflecting hardtear could do with an extension on its duration. Something like 7-8 minutes would make it a bit more flexible of a choice imo.
Would’ve been cool if they made it to be a talisman or even an effect off an armour set so it felt more legit / less like a gimmick, which is how I feel about any temporary ability I get in a game.
after deciding to play the DLC using as many parries as possible, I can confidently say that nothing feels quite as good as that first run when you finally learn the bosses patterns and parry them like 12 times in a row.
Deflecting hardtear is definitely the most fun with thrusting shields, milady and the black steel greathammer. This tear is definitely my favorite addition in the dlc, I've been having so much fun experimenting with Deflect and guard counter builds
Yes. And honestly the parry build I finished a few days ago and the sekiro build I finished today might be the most fun I've had in Elden Ring, even after 700+ hours and 20+ different builds.
Hey mister Aggycus, I just wanted to say, thank you! I got the DLC when it released, made it to the final boss, gave it a few shots, and decided "NAAAHHHH, F*** THIS BULL****"! Didn't even know about the deflecting tear before watching this video. Parry wasn't really working out all that well for me, but I made a build around counters and grinded the boss for the last two days. I owe my victory to you! Ended up winning the final fight with only guard counters. Still used rolling though, I'm not a masochist :D
57:17 From my understanding, Divine Beast triggers the combo attacks after it's had a chance to cycle through all three stages. This makes the healing affect it gets after the grab much more punishing becuase it doesn't save you from the harder moveset
A trick I found out with Midra parrying: if you hit him with a fast enough R1, if he staggers, he resets to a normal swing combo for easy parry. If he doesn't stagger, it's either the grab or the fast frenzy burst. Obviously, Aggy would've not managed to use that tech in this but for those who want to parry this boss, it's consistent.
I just used the deflecting tear against Radhan (the final boss) but I used it quite diferent from you. I used a weapon at 2 hands and blocked (deflect) the attacks, and when I see an opening I counterattack (the one you use when you block and receive an attack and inmediatly press strong button). I went to second phase in less than 10 seconds (if you counterattack twice his posture breaks easly and I found it easier than try to parry him). Now I want to try a sekiro Run (nothing but katanas), wish me luck!
I like how he was doing everything for bayle to maximize the damage except just putting the weapon on keen which would have given him atleast 500 damage
Obviously a whole different beast when you're doing it without dodge rolls, but parrying Rellana on my first SOTE playthrough was some of the most fun I've had in the entire game.
I feel like jumping and recovery rolls should have been allowed, since Wolf can jump and recover as well. But u still did it man.👍 I am convinced Miyazaki just doesn’t give a shit about fleshing out the parry mechanism in this goddamn game.

not sure if every1 is aware, but if you get 4 deflects in a row without attacking it gives you 20% per deflect that stacks up to 80% and then caps, basically making the tear act as both royal knights resolve and sekiro block at the same time.
These challenge videos are always so funny to me. "Can you beat Elden Ring using ___?" Well, yes, you can, but why would you put yourself through that much mental anguish?
