  • Hey guys! Today in this video I'm going to show you how you can lose weight fast and see results using calories. So many of you as me how many calories you need to eat in a day to lose weight - so I hope that this can help you in some way. :) This is just a rough estimation, but I hope it can still give you a rough guideline - because we are all so different.

    CALCULATIONS:
    BMR is how many calories your body burns in a day at rest
    There are 4 FACTORS that go into calculating your BMR
    Gender
    Weight
    Height
    Age
    To calculate a Woman’s BMR you can use this formula: BMR = 655 + (4.35 x weight in pounds) + (4.7 x height in inches) - (4.7 x age in years)
    And to calculate a man’s BMR you can use this formula which is slightly different : BMR = 66 + (6.23 x weight in pounds) + (12.7 x height in inches) - (6.8 x age in year)
    Activity level:
    Sedentary - 1.2
    Lightly active - 1.375 (exercise 1-3days)
    Moderately active - 1.55 (exercise 3-5days)
    Very active -1.75 (exercise 6-7days)
    Extremely active - 1.9
    Take BMR X activity level = calories needed to maintain current weight
    It takes about 3500 calories to lose a pound
    3500 x pounds need to lose = total cal need to burn/ save
    Total cal need to burn/ save ÷ by weeks to burn by = cal per week
    Cal per week ÷ 7 days = cal need to save/ or burn per week to lose weight
    (To save cal - eat less / Burn cal - exercise)
    Take your cal needed each day - cal needed per day to lose weight = cal needed per day to lose weight (rough estimate/ average)

      Nap Shines Your just like my dad! For me I’m like, NO! Because I saw so much fat people and then I look at skinny people, and sense obese ness goes around my family, I feel like I’m fat, but everyone says I’m unhealthy skinny, but I don’t think that. I count calories, eat wayyyy less, and most of the time I skip dinner and lunch. My family and friends started to notice, and even strangers, too. But I still don’t believe that I’m skinny and I still continue to keep not eating and not eating. I’m sooo scared to be fat.

    So helpful!! Thank you so much! Any idea how this could be modified to help a breastfeeding mom?? On the days I try to count calories (per the liezl jayne point system of course) I notice a dip in my milk supply the next day :(

    Great video! 👍 A good reminder how we can break down our plans to numbers, which then will help us to set more realistic goals. The only thing to watch out for is to run a re-calculation from time to time since as we lose weight 💃, the initial calculation of which cal deficit to reach daily might be misleading, especially for someone on a longer journey.

      Ilona Salamon that's fine but for some people they don't need to because as their deficit gets smaller the weight loss slows down. So right now my activity is 2250 calories and I'm eating 1700 calories to lose 1lb per week. After losing 14-15lbs, as I'm 154lbs right now, I will be 140lbs and I will be losing 0.7lbs a week instead. So if the person wants faster weightloss they can adjust but if they do strength training they can keep it the same but cycle their calories. What I'm trying to say is 1700 calories will still keep me at a deficit even when I'm 140lbs.

      RosesareRed38 Sure, until you have any cal deficit, you will continue to lose weight. All I was saying is that we cannot approach the weight loss plan thinking that with the same cal intake each week, we will be able to lose the same weight each week, simply because our BMR will be deceasing. So referring to the example of a 12-week plan in the video, it is a practical, easy to understand example, but not quite accurate.

    So for someone that is 4’ 11 and wants to lose 30lbs (from weighing 150) I need to burn or save 1250 cal per day to reach my goal weight of 120 pounds within 12 weeks being lightly active and only doing exercise 1 to 3 times per week. Does that sound right?

    Is 1,600 calories good for me if I’m 5’4.5 and weigh around 100 pounds? I’m recovering from an eating disorder, and I’m having a hard time figuring out how many calories I need. I workout around 2-5 times a week; those workouts are fairly light. I’m also 16! Would love any and all advice! Xx

    Okay wait so that example she used was specific to me so would i eat 2000 calories and exercise 500 of it off or just eat 1500 and then do the deficite off that

    Liezl, can you do an example use kg's and cm's as it gets confusing having to convert it from pounds and inches. Also you didn't specify if we should convert the height in inches to cm's or meters. I am 1.53m...do I use 1.53 in my calc or 153? 1 pound is roughly 2 kg's, so the 3500 cals to burn to lose 1 pound actually means that it takes 1750 cals to burn 1 kg, am I right?
