Interesting comparison. I absolutely love the Vulcain. For me this is the perfect reintroduction of their original design. The Rado is lovely too, I’m just a sucker for more nostalgic pieces.

Can't be sure the Powermatic 80 is easy to service. There are multiple versions of this movement including version with plastic "high tech" escapement - where parts are not available. The movement is difficult/impossible to regulate - as there is no conventional etachron regulator - the timing is adjusted in the factory by laser etching of the balance. If the Vulcain is a conventional ETA 2824 then it is easier to service/ regulate.

Fun video! Both are great watches but don’t think I agree that the powermatic is a better movement than the 2824, or even a great movement. It has some issues including some plastic. UA-cam is full of watchmakers lamenting how ETA has somehow sold us on plastic with the promise of 80hr power reserve. And it doesn’t make sense to me that Rado would put the powermatic in a watch that starts at $2300.

Thanks for your opinion. I understand your point. I believe the higher score for Rado movement was in a first place because of a better customer experience with the watch that has a longer power reserve.
