Regarding Indiana Jones: The Hamilton plays no role in the movie. However there is a watch that does... the Hanhart chrono that the Nazi villain wears. Why is nobody talking about this? Hanhart lacking the marketing power of Swatch??
Excellent point, I would love to talk about it, but alas, I have yet to see the movie. However, to answer your question, judging by my last video filmed at Hanhart, I think it answers it for you. Great comment, thank you. Best regards, TGV Here you go, if you missed it, enjoy: ua-cam.com/video/9cGHqAPMliE/v-deo.html
I did enjoy the Hamiltons connection to another character though. But yeah I was wondering when someone would say something about the watch of the villain
@@theurbangentryDon’t waste your money mate, it’s another disaster from disney. Go see the new Mission Impossible instead and have an enjoyable cinematic experience 👍🏻
I love how ever since your visit to the Empire State Building and Bulova's museum you've developed this relationship with the company to debut their watches, I love it! My very first mechanical watch was a Bulova gifted to me by my girlfriend, so that company holds a special place in my heart.
I never heard of Vulcain before but man, that's a classy piece! Mr Laidet really knows how to make very accurate vintage reissues. And about the Apple/smart Watch, I've tried out an Apple Watch myself for about 14 days and I totally get why people love them. But it looks a bit childish when you are more formally dressed. I would love to go back to the good old Nokia times... Excellent video TGV! Have a great weekend!🙌🏻🔥
Nivada and Vulcain are amazing watches. I really really like the Vulcain Diver but I wish they had the black dial with white lume. I don’t know why but yellowed lume makes me think I’m not wearing a tool watch but an old watch. And that Vulcain diver really looks like the kind of watch I’d use as my daily beater watch ❤
I agree the prices for the King series are insanity run amok. But they are nice. Personally, I prefer the base models. I have a J series Turtle and a K series Samurai, and those specs for the money I paid is enough for me.
That’s a stupid discussion. Most watches are insanely priced and people buy them anyways - the more expensive the better. The watch market does not work on quality and value for money.
Someone could argue any watch other than a Casio F91w could be considered a "cash grab". Or indeed anything in life where form takes precedence over function. I'm just glad there are so many watches out there to fit the many differing opinions. As always sir great video.
Great show my friend AS usual! Very surprised The Old fart Indie was wearing a Quartz watch in the 40’s!!!!;) couldn’t agree more with everything you said except I feel a little stronger about this Genta trend!!!!! Needs to stop like now! Glad you included Vertex! My favourite watch is the M100 for all the reasons you said plus Don is a lovely man!;) All the best!

Good evening TGV, this video is spot on! Especially Nivada Grenchen and Vulcain are doing things very right. I see them in a league with Hanhart, Fortis or Fornex. Generally speaking people who are passionate about their watches and their craft! Have a great weekend. Best regards!
Love the F77... and I'm so pleased he's reviving the cricket too. It's heartening to see these older brands being given a new lease of life but I hope they will also build on the legacy and develop new designs.
I love the Bulova Devil Divers in the Archive series (the non-GMTs). I think if I do get one it'll be that one, though the GMT here is pretty compelling! I have gone back and forth with the orange dial, but I keep coming back to the idea that I really will only want one orange dial and that is a Doxa (whether that brand's resuscitation is a cash grab or not). Hoping you are wearing your collection in good health, TGV.
- The Boulton in the movie appears in two scenes: one when Indy explains that it used to belong to his father (aka Henry Jones Sr as played by Sean Connery), and one where it’s at Indy’s bedside table - It’s a quartz, but since there are no scenes where we see it ticking, it doesn’t matter. Quartz means the propmasters don’t have to spend too much time looking after it for Harrison Ford as well as his stunt doubles. - Most people would say it’s overpriced, but I got mine at a Boxing Week sale, and I have to say it’s one of the most comfortable dress watches I own.
Always an excellent way start to the weekend! That omega in your wrist watch check has long been one of my favorites of your watch collection. An excellent video presentation as always. Well done and thank you!!🥃
I've been watching for a while. And, honestly, i was fairly dubious at first, not trusting or finding much worth in most "intellectual" criticism of watches or anything else at this point in my life. But i kept watching. Until i realized that your content is simultaneously more cerebral watch and lifestyle content AND an indictment of such content at the same time. It's subversive with subtlety rarely evidenced these days AND it's useful at the same time. Brilliant.
Such sage analysis. Personally, I am more forgiving of those smaller and newer brands, like the revivalist, than I am of the big brands pumping out new dial colours, changing a strap, changing a dial size by a couple of mm's etc. The integrated bracelet has been one of the most recent cash grabs for me.
Omg, you're wearing the watch I inherited from my dad (in silver and with 6 o'clock seconds)... He got it for his communion and wore it for about 20 years before dropping it in a drawer in miserable shape. I had it repaired and serviced by Omega in Switzerland... for almost a grand! They had to replace half the movement, the crystal, the strap... got the broken parts in a little bag. It now runs at +2s/day but it's not waterproof anymore and... I almost never wear it, too scared to damage it. Yeah... The bumper movement is one of a kind though, really cool. It's alive!
Great video! It's crazy how so many people will pay hundreds of dollars on a smartwatch only for it to be obsolete in a few years. Most of us already do that with smart phones. I can stare at the watch on my wrist for minutes at a time several time a day. I have a smart watch that I use for exercise but I cannot keep it on for more than a couple hours; it's so boring. Cheers!
Got lost in the beginning of where this video was going but towards the end I got it. The reviews on the lesser-known brands who tastefully pay homage to classic designs of the past ... nailed it. Nivada Grenchen, Bulova, Vulcain, Hamilton, Squale, Vertex and I would add Yema, are all brands that do this well without the hype. Also I think the German, Black Forest, brands could be added like Stowa, Laco, hanhart and Junghans. I would like to throw in Seiko but at times I feel they're so guilty of "cash grab" .
The quartz Hamilton isn't inaccurate. The film’s present-day is 1969. And even though I'm not a fan of quartz watches. But out of all things Indy wears that Hamilton would be what I would buy. For two reasons, one (and the biggest for me) is it's understated. And it's something you can wear with just about anything. As opposed to a bomber jacket or a pair of Alden’s. The other reason is I need a dress watch in my collection.
I’m very new to this hobby, so wouldn’t know a cash grab watch if it slapped me across the face. All I can do is do some research and buy whatever I think I will enjoy wearing no matter what anyone else thinks. Thanks as always for the insightful video.
I just bought a used Farer Roche. I love how every watch they have is an exercise in well thought out and unique design with the average enthusiast in mind. I hear they have the following that may buy multiples at a time due to the unique nature of each watch in a product line. I think Nomos is also making waves and blazing the way with their movements. Can't wait to get one since I am such a movement junkie. I'd rather spend 1500-5000 on a watch from one of the aforementioned brands than a Tudor or the like. That's just me though. Wear what you love. That is what matters.
Very nice sir 👍🏻 Thank you for featuring the GMT. The Bulova wasn't on my radar. I'm in the market for a GMT. I'm very torn at the moment as I was waiting to see what Marc did, but they're only 40mm. I'd really love to stay loyal to him, but top of my list so far is the Spinnaker Dumas GMT
Thankyou for another great video, love the Vulcain, yes me too thinks just a tad expensive but so lovely and as a devil diver owner I'm all over the gmt, wether I'll add it to the collection, maybe.... as I love the non gmt version even with the lowly 8000 series movement and getting another of very similar looks, well it's all about the disposable income but thanks for the heads up.
"You vote with your time and your money." Though, as always, the content is so rich and thought provoking, that one line is a big takeaway for me. My watchmaker is a small storefront run by an aging Germán couple. They are amazing and the wife humbles me with her watch and horology knowledge. I just recently bought a watch bracelet. I bought from Long Island. Amazon does not share my love and passion and I suspect the authenticity of a small business drives that. Where you buy matters as much as what you buy and integrity from journalistic sources and content creators matters a great deal. Thank you for a great closing sentence.
Another fantastic episode and your knowledge on the various brands is second to none. I must admit that Bulova oceanographer has my senses tickled and can't wait for the August release.
I love your videos. Did a good job of bringing the new Nivada, Bulova and Hamilton to my attention. When you say something in Italian (19.29) in an otherwise English spoken video, and then say something like, "do you know?", it doesn't come across the best. Maybe a subtitle or 2 for the non-Italian speakers, please?
I love the “They Live” reference! That was unexpected. Also, thank you for featuring the Hamilton. Indiana Jones was great. A watch is key to the plot as well.
That Oceanographer GMT is gorgeous. The only odd choice is the minuscule size and location of the pointer on the 24hr hand. I'll still be picking one up though!
Another great video, and interesting topic. I like seeing Vulcain back, however the price point on the Cricket feels a bit like a cash grab. I get they have a new caliber and all but seems like vintage would be a better way to go when it comes to the Cricket.
Great video as always! I love the Hamilton design, but do wish that it was mechanical to be a bit more faithful to the vintage editions. Recently got a friend a 1950s Hamilton Sawyer that looks quite similar to this one to celebrate the birth of his first child!
What a great watch that Hamilton is, classy and elegant i haven't got a dress watch in my collection that is definitely one i would get. The Bulova Oceanographer GMT is a nice looking watch also. Yet another brilliant video TGV onwards and upwards.
Great Episode, as usual. Top 5 production in the Watch YT space. The Vulcan is a good looking piece but TBH the Certina DS PH200M is a better option @$995 but isn’t COSC Certified but the one I have since 2020 has been +2-2, consistently for the last 3 years now and has a Date Function.
I like the pastel blue dials (Halios, Traska) and the Genta inspired watches (Christopher Ward, Nivada, Prx, etc). Just because it's trendy doesn't mean it sucks.
Amazing video TGV,personally i consider buying the bulova oceanographer (non gmt) because it gets you that vintage look without having to pay an arm and a leg for it.The new gmt version is also pretty interesting
I have recently been delving into the world of cigars. What I have noticed is how Cuban cigar makers have adopted the Rolex approach to selling their cigars. They have created a shortage in the market to increase profits. However this is not necessarily a bad thing. It makes buyers look elsewhere. This usually leads them to discover that there are other products equally as good for a lot less. In the case of watches people are becoming more aware of certain micro brands, and with cigars people are turning their attention to what's called new world cigars. Some new world cigars for example coming from Dominica and Nicaragua are as good and in some instances better than Cuban cigars but half the price. It's not always doom and gloom when you get priced out of something you really wanted. I'm just going to light up a Davidoff 👍🤗
@@carrerau7138 I'm not buying the shortages. All the main Cuban brands churn out millions of cigars every year. But it's their call, it's great for us because we start discovering new brands. I haven't tried Nicaraguan yet but a lot of people say the are quite strong cigars. I'll order a few and give them a try. 👍
Do you ever envisage there might be so much push back the prices will fall to what they where ( Rolex ) adjusted for inflation in the 50 ' s or 60 's .
The vintage Bulova jumbo F which is basically the poor man's Heuer Carrera LOVE that watch. I love automatics but I love Quartz aswell. My vintage Tag Heuer Night diver is one of my favorite watches. Next Quartz piece will be The Heuer Monnin case 1000 orange boy. Great video brotha 👌
The night diver is such a sexy watch. As is the Monnin 1000, I think I saw one at the Heuer museum, love that case design, excellent choices my friend. I certainly will not be type that in ebay! 😅💸💸 Best regards, TGV
I habitually look at every watch I pass by in the street. I have done it for many years. The majority of watches are now Garmins and other smart watches. They are everywhere! It’s now a shock to see a diver or any sort of chronograph, sports watch or dress watch even Gshocks and other Casios are rare on wrists in the street. For the regular folks in the street it’s all smartwatches now for men and women!
When it comes to Bulova I wish the " lobster" Accutron ii would make an updated return. Really loved the look and the used prices have steadily climbed.
I hate to say this but, the 2016 reissue of the Eberhard Scafograf 300 was a cashgrab aswell. Sure, it was a 300 meter diver with a helium escapevalve, but it cost over 4000 euro and had a simple ETA 2824-2 movement... it somehow won in the GPHG against the Tudor Pelagos.
Hi TGV! I wish Hamilton would have brought the watch with a mechanical movement. They have proven that they are able to produce mechanical icons for less than $800. Talking about smartwatches, especially the Apple Watch. I have worn my Apple Watches (I upgraded from a Series 1 to Series 8 after six years) for over 1,000 days in a row now. Mostly doing the “Schwarzkopf” with a real watch on my left wrist and the Apple Watch on the right. The gamification with the three circles helped me to do more. Walking more, do a 3-5 kilometre run every morning, taking the stairways instead of the elevator. That’s nice to have. But if you have issues with your heart and other health problems, the Apple Watch is your little helper on your wrist. It reminds me to take my medicine, it constantly taking my heart rate and could even do a simple ECG. The Apple Watch 8 has got one of the best sleep trackers. It monitors my breathing rate during the night, my VO2max and my heart rate variability. All this is important to me. And therefore it’s not the first time I decided to wear the Apple Watch as the only device when I don’t want to do the “Schwarzkopf”. And I’m saying this as a watch enthusiast! Best regards, Claus
SO EXCITED to see the oceanographer GMT! i have the green reissue from a few years ago and its one of my favorite watches. Defintely going to grab the blue and red model!
The Boulton was very popular way back in the 40s and 50s, and this new one has the looks, BUT, for the price, it really should have a hand-wind movement like the original.
Yeah, that would have been amazing! I could not agree more. I wonder if they will do that? Thank you for sharing that, excellent idea, I would not be surprised if they do. Best regards, TGV
Another awesome video, big thanks! Really looking forward to you doing Vertex - they look great. On another note - as you touched upon watch casting - I would really love to see you look into the watches of For All Mankind. It seems to me - a mere amateur - they did a great job 👍
The one thing about that Boulton.... The equally priced regular mechanical version has a sapphire crystal. So why oh why did Hamilton jump the shark with a mineral crystal? Speaking of lacklustre, I have a recussitated Excelsior Park. Beautiful. Love it to bits. Guillaume Llaidet is also involved with those guys. That said, if you actually call Nivada or Vulcain service number (never mind why I did), they will tell you Guillaume doesn't own the brand, he merely consults, according to those folks. In the meantime, the domain names for all these brands are registered through a privacy minded registrar out of California, so ownership is tricky to track down. That all said: Nivada, Vulcain, Excelsior Park are all splendidly executed.
I’m loving nivada grenchen. Got the super Antarctic recently and looking forward to digging more into the history of that line (there is a book that looks amazing on the topic )
Compared to smartwatches, luxury watches might have heritage and "last a lifetime", but cost a fortune to buy and maintain. Garmin watches, for example, have so many useful functions for outdoor and sporting activities, look great and can be had for a couple hundred bucks. As for surveillance, it's much easier to disable tracking on a smartwatch than an android or iphone. Plus they can let you leave your phone at home during workouts. I agree though that apple watches look ghastly! 😅
I love that Vulcain. Great proportions and very understated look. I agree with the fauxtina though. I wish companies would stop doing it, or at least offer an alternative for people to choose.
I just bought a certina chronometer chronograph quartz, ds diver 300 meters water resistance for a bargain price of £370. Accurate 10+ to -10 seconds a year. Looks wonderful on my wrist. What more could you want a Swiss Made from a company with heritage. I have mechanical wachtes as well. A bargain in my book I would rather wear that than a Rolex where I could lose my life for in the area of London I live in. About 5 years ago, a man lost his life being stabbed for his Rolex in Greenwich.
Great video don’t kick me off but it would be interesting for you to do a video about the “smart watch” as look at it from a historical perspective it seems similar to people moving from pocket watches to wrist watches the phone is something you keep in your pocket and get out to use and they start big and got smaller to now you wear them on your wrist there is a lot of parallels to both
Ever since I watched your older video about evolving tastes and traveling for more life experiences etc. I am slower at purchasing a watch just because it's popular. Take it slow, research and experience.
Silky!!!!!!! Great to hear from you old friend. Did you see the last Hanhart video? It's the most important video I have ever done perhaps the year. I hope you enjoy that one too. Anyways, see you in the comments brought a smile to my face. Best regards as always, TGV
Zero west are a good bet for the future, there lovely watches good quality and quite exclusive and best of all there exceptional quality they could be worth more in the future when they take off in bulk
Thank you my friend, not 100% sure right now, but they should be released soon. I think somewhere around 1200 to 1300 bucks. But we will see, they have yet given a precise price. Best regards TGV

When you say something in Italian (19.29) in an otherwise English spoken video, and then say something like, "do you know?", it doesn't come across the best. Maybe a subtitle or 2 for the non-Italian speakers, please?
Best watch youtuber - Every video a small piece of Art! Thanks!!!
I love the “They Live” reference! That was unexpected. Also, thank you for featuring the Hamilton. Indiana Jones was great. A watch is key to the plot as well.
It's so hard for me to comment your video as profound as I would love to but all I can say is THANK YOU 👊
Tristano, your last vids are absolutely amazing... Every time I see one of yours on my suggestions I know it's gonna be a good day.... Thank you ! 🙏🏻😊
Loving that Vulcain Nautique... a very interesting and value-packed alternative to Oris Divers 65.
Just for fun, when doing your Italian rant please put down some subtitles, we don´t want to miss out. Love your work please keep on doing you. Cheers
I‘m just doing the same, a Davidoff! 😀
The recent Cuban cigar shortage is mainly caused by very strong demand from China (!) according to my dealer.
Fascinating insight, thank you so much for sharing that. I must look into that!
Enjoy your cigar,
Best regards,
TGV
@@theurbangentry Thank you 👍
@@carrerau7138 I'm not buying the shortages.
Best regards,
TGV
LOL II would love to see the Heuer museum. My favorite chronographs are actually Heuer
15:55 - love these brown colors 😍😍
They are sooooooo nice in rose gold. I agree
Network reference?! You got my vote
You have atoned, thank you 😉🥂
Best regards,
TGV
I habitually look at every watch I pass by in the street. I have done it for many years. The majority of watches are now Garmins and other smart watches. They are everywhere! It’s now a shock to see a diver or any sort of chronograph, sports watch or dress watch even Gshocks and other Casios are rare on wrists in the street. For the regular folks in the street it’s all smartwatches now for men and women!
Always a good day when there’s a TGV upload.
Great Video. You are moving from knowledge to wisdom, I am always impressed with how you see the watch world. Thanks
Years down the track, still loving your work and trusting your opinions 👍⌚
I would love to get my hands on a Hulex but I fear that it will eventually just become another hype watch like Hublot and Rolex lol
Best regards,
Claus
SO EXCITED to see the oceanographer GMT! i have the green reissue from a few years ago and its one of my favorite watches. Defintely going to grab the blue and red model!
Bulova Oceanographer GMT Root Beer! Wow! That is my next watch! 🇺🇸
Thanks for your content TGV, still my favorite watch channel (and I've seen them all). I look forward to every post! 👏🏼
Wow I love the Devil Diver GMT! Agree with you! ❤
When the world needed you the most you where here. Thanks for the video have a good weekend sir
To kind sir! Thank you so much, have a wonderful weekend too!
😎🥂
Best regards,
TGV
Just purchased the Mil-Ships and have been eyeing up the Devil Diver. Going to wait a month now for the GMT.
Love the bulova’s and the Hamilton! I have the Tissot banana in gold which has similar case shape and size, soooo comfy!
Best regards,
TGV
I have a feeling if they do, it'll be a limited edition with a price to match.
Great THEY LIVE reference and a great review as always.
Another awesome video, big thanks! Really looking forward to you doing Vertex - they look great. On another note - as you touched upon watch casting - I would really love to see you look into the watches of For All Mankind. It seems to me - a mere amateur - they did a great job 👍
Love the intro, so old school Urban Gentry.
Ooh! First here. Lovely jubbly 😎. Thanks for the video!
Huzza! It H. Mountbatten!
I love my Bulova Lunar Pilot. So I think it’s a great brand. I really like your reference to „They Live“ 🕐🍸🍸
Stunning bulova
Hi Tristano! I definitely think you should try to get a CWC W10 in for review it was the watch issued by the British MOD.
Nice intro! I hope to see more of your videos for years to come!
I like your reference to the film Them in your video.
I love that Vulcain. Great proportions and very understated look. I agree with the fauxtina though. I wish companies would stop doing it, or at least offer an alternative for people to choose.
Part of the new Indiana Jones movie is indeed set in 1969, hence it makes perfect sense for the inclusion of the quartz Bulova!!!
Great video don’t kick me off but it would be interesting for you to do a video about the “smart watch” as look at it from a historical perspective it seems similar to people moving from pocket watches to wrist watches the phone is something you keep in your pocket and get out to use and they start big and got smaller to now you wear them on your wrist there is a lot of parallels to both
Thanks for existing Sir!
Great video - I currently own the VERTEX M100 ( manual ) I like the feature you were showing in the book. Could I ask the name of the publication?
I'd say Vertex is right up TGV's street (or perhaps I should say: up Mountbatten Avenue!)
Abso-bloody-lutely!
Thank you JB, I hope this finds you and your family well.
Best regards as always!
TGV
hey TGV, take note of the POINTtech's new brand Iron Annie, gorgeous military designs and very affordable
ciao!
Ever since I watched your older video about evolving tastes and traveling for more life experiences etc. I am slower at purchasing a watch just because it's popular. Take it slow, research and experience.
Very happy to hear that, Thank you sir, enjoy every moment.
Best regards,
TGV
I just got back from seeing the Indiana Jones (it's fantastic!) And he mentions, after the watch was lifted from him, that it was his father's watch
I come back every so often to see your progress
Silky!!!!!!! Great to hear from you old friend. Did you see the last Hanhart video? It's the most important video I have ever done perhaps the year. I hope you enjoy that one too. Anyways, see you in the comments brought a smile to my face.
Best regards as always,
TGV
un altro burino senza stile! ahahaha get out of my head! haha great video as always! will you review the Squale COMSUBIN?
Zero west are a good bet for the future, there lovely watches good quality and quite exclusive and best of all there exceptional quality they could be worth more in the future when they take off in bulk
- Another great video I enjoyed from start to finish.
Another great video .... Can't wait for that Bulova watch
The new Timex World Time looks pretty nifty and affordable. 👍
Off to have a butcher's at them. Thank you for the suggestion.
Best regards,
TGV
It’s a great watch. Looks - and wears - terrific in person.
@@dominicrusho it's tempting. I always like the aesthetic of world timers.
Bulova Oceanographer GMT is stunning, especially the Root Beer version but would be better if it comes in yellow gold tone instead of rose gold tone.
Love that Bulova Oceanographer GMT! Any idea on pricing? Great vid!
Thank you my friend, not 100% sure right now, but they should be released soon. I think somewhere around 1200 to 1300 bucks. But we will see, they have yet given a precise price.
Best regards
TGV
