I vacuum the water, disarm fusebox and clean everything no Major problems... 6 months later happens exactly the same but this time fusebox starts fire... I vacuum everything again but this time drill 3 holes in the trunk to drain water, I raplaced fusebox and conectores, everything works back less the screen
Just a heads up for people in the future. I had this water damage in my 2016 Camaro SS, one day I smelled burning wires. I flew back home and unplugged my battery with a 10mm socket. There was about 4 inches of water in the back of my trunk well. I removed the rear fuse box entirely, and washed down the wiring harnesses (the bundles of wiring that plug into the box) with electrical contact cleaner. I used an electric duster (or you can use compressed air) to throughly blow out the wiring harnesses after vaccuming out all the water with a wet vac. I ordered a replacement rear junction fuse box which came pre-installed with fuses. The GM part is "Body Wiring Harness Junction Block - GM (84044726)". Replacing the fuse box got me back up and running. I hope this helps someone in the future. It was going to cost thousands of dollars for a dealer or mechanic to repair, it ended up costing me about $150.
Slightly discolored in spots from the smoke, but the connectors and wires looked ok on mine. My car has been working fine since the incident. You could try hitting your harness with electrical contact cleaner (shoot it into the white connectors) and cleaning it up really well, then see if replacing the junction box and fuses works. If none of the wires are melted and exposed you might be okay.@@AH-wf5ri
March 2023, this exact issue just happened to me in my 2016 Camaro SS. I noticed the other day the blinker noise stopped. But, while driving down the street today I noticed a burning smell. I pulled over and realized the fuse box in the trunk was catching fire. Luckily I disconnected the battery in time before too much damage happened. Does anyone know if insurance will cover this? I still have payments on this car.
nope mine decline claim been waiting since nov of last year and they finally told me no now im left with a 2018 car not working and dont know where to fix it everywhere is expensive
Juan Zarate I had just bought the car, like two days before. I took it back to Carmax and it took them two weeks to fix it. I purchased a warranty but the car still had the GM warranty and they covered it because the weather stripping was the cause. The amp/controller in the trunk was replaced along with two speakers that were damaged. About a month later another speaker started cracking so they replaced it too.
JAMESTAPPJR I second this question as well....how did you and were you able to fix the problem and did you have to get new cables bc of the water!! Really would love to hear back, I’m going through the same exact thing and mechanics are charging so much
I had the same problem i ended up having to get a new fuse box and body control module and battery!!! Cost for repairs and parts was 650.. it still leaks on the top of each corner into the trunk. My fix=buy a car cover smh
I need help please. For over a year the radio in the chevy Camaro has been malfunctioning (shutting on and off excessively), this electrical issue affects my vision when driving at night it has currently escalated to preventing turn signal audio therefore I continuously have to check to see if turn signals are working and will not know if they stop working. This is not a stand alone problem with just my Camaro and I have reviewed many owners of Camaros have the same issue. This issue occurs when in motion. Air conditioning and heater is effected at times also.

was ur harness burnt at all or discolored? mine is and rlly hoping it still works

Stay away from CHEVROLET they are full of problems you said it can happen to any car wrong only CHEVROLET....
