It defiantly had the most points of articulation. I always thought of FX-7 as more of a 'she' because it was also refereed to as the nurse-droid... and it was the early 80s.... and stuff...
The crazy thing about Star Wars toys back in the early 80s ... You could shop at bargain stores like "Roses" or "TG&Y" back then and they carried legitimate Star Wars toys that other name brand stores didn't carry. Mostly because they were things like smaller vehicles and support toy lines that those big name stores probably didn't think would generate a high enough profit margin. They went after what they thought would be the bigger selling items. And yeah, you name an obscure Star Wars toy, I probably owned it in my childhood collection. Practically none of those toys survived my childhood. And lets not even talk about sticker placement on the toys. There is a reason why kindergarten kids get praise for drawing and staying within the lines.
Hahah...same with me too...it was the first figure I bought for empire because I thought I was kenner fucked up attempt at the imperial probot and never knew or saw FX 7 in the background behind the bacta tank with luke swimming in it.
I mean why the fuck did they even add confusion by picturing it flying in space anyways on the cardback art picture like a goddamned probe droid would be doing? ?!!?
Hay junk man, funny I was at a flea market yesterday and had one loose in my hand…lol I like droids as a little sub collection in the larger Star Wars figures
Born in 76, had that figure, never did get laughed at since there wasn't really anyone near my age at the time in me neighborhood. Last thing I recalled of it is that it's upper grab arm was broke off, leaving a nub where the arm was the thinnest.
You've hit the nail on the head though. They're probably a focus collector. Heck they could even be a collector of the FX-7 because very few others are, so why not. But I agree the first card release makes the most sense. And if you have most of them, that means you're probably not buying as much, so when a hard to find one does come up you're willing to go above and beyond because that's one less for you to worry about later.
Back in the days when I used to set figures up in battle scenes I had an group of FX-7s as an Dalek invasion force …… Jedi mind powers doesn’t work on Daleks !!
Hi a brillant in depth video I have checked my collection of Star Wars figures that are in the loft . All my Empire card backs are as you Described. I started collection in 1978 . I have all the Star wars Empire and Jedi on card .most of the Jedi are still factory sealed .Including some mail offs .thank you for making the video
I’ve gotten stuck in bidding wars before, where you’ve become emotionally invested in the item and just can’t bear to let it go. About 13 years ago, I paid $60 for a POTF Planetary Map, which was much, much more than the thing was worth. I still have it today, though, so technically I haven’t lost any money on it. It will only be a financial loss if I resell it for less than $60.
I've seen a documentary on mind states and they showed a college class where they started bidding on a 20 dollar bill. Sure enough, bidding went over the amount it was worth. It's fascinating.
I’ve gotten into a few eBay bidding wars over the years myself. It’s easy to get caught up in the moment and end up paying more than an item is worth. It’s all part of being a collector.
'Expert con-men' were passing vintage Star Wars figures that were re-packaged in the mid 2000's..and they went through the roof in prices! Now anyone can do it! People with too much money just didnt know any better!
I never had one, but I always wanted this figure. I've always loved robots, and the more robotic looking, the better. Unfortunately I can't remember ever seeing this figure in the stores and I had no idea where to order it from. Eventually I forgot about it as I grew up.
You can still do decently on them depending on how many you have. I had a decent sized collection all unboxed and played with. Many of the guns missing. Some lost capes. Rather than sell them I was encouraged to pass them down in the family so others could enjoy them. I passed them down to my nephew, with the idea he would eventually pass them down to his kids or his little brother. Well within just a few years my sister/his mother sold them on ebay for a few hundred dollars. I'm still rather pissed, because if they were just going to be sold, I would have sold them myself.
Not questioning your knowledge but I’m in the UK and when I was a kid all of the cards for the figures were Kenner regardless of the toy shop or supermarket I was in. I never once saw Palitoy. Not once.
@@ThatJunkman I’ve done some checks and you’re correct. I’m 44, and was born a week before Star Wars came out. In 1982 I was buying the toys but everything was Kenner by that point. Garage sales when I was a kid was another place where I picked a few up. One of my friends is 51, and he said it was initially Palitoy and then after a few years it all changed to Kenner.
I’ve still got mine. When I was a kid I thought it was the lamest Christmas present ever. My grandma thought cause it was a robot it must be the star of the movoe
when i was a kid i had a "Star Wars" Christmas that is all i got was Star Wars stuff and i got one of these..i would guess Christmas 79 or 80? anyway it lasted maybe a month i played pretty hard with my Star Wars toys
Never had it as a kid but when i bought it loose in the late 90's, i remember that the only thing that came to me was : this piece of grey plastic is just awful. i m sure that kids were very disappointed back in the days with this dude in hands 😅
For real? Seriously? The biggest deal with this figure was the TYPE of BLISTER CARD? And the whole $12,000 thing was basically stupidity? I've still have a loose FX-7 in near-mint condition in a small drawer. It's biggest worth is that it frequently stood in for a Dalek when I was a kid--and that's priceless. 😑
I think FX-7 is a different kind of droid, which is visually unappealing. $200 on the mint Palitoy/Kenner cards is too much. Whether it' a variant or not, FX-7 should never be any more than $40-60 for on the card. If it were graded at least a 9, then it would be worth $200. As far as C-9 loose/complete figures go, I think $10 is a fair price. FX-7 isn't that valuable in my opinion.
What the heck happened to the ten movies you dislike video???? I was trying to comment, it kept spinning and then I hit refresh and it said the video was now private, could not find it. Sumbitch! Was gonna say how I can still remember that stupid line the guy from Soap said “mrs whosiewhatsits”. That was on the a bunch when it came out in 85 or so. Hated it.
I had this toy out of the u.k. guess what, I took it out of the package and played with it. As a family, me and my brothers and sister had millenium falcon, Luke's X-wing, Tie fighter, Vader's fighter, 2x speeder bikes, AT-ST, taun taun, Luke and Han in Hoth gear, Han, Chewie, ESB C3PO that broke apart and put in plastic sack, Leia in bounty hunter costume, Lando , Lando in disguise, Luke In black with green light saber and gray cloak. All played with, most stuck in the hedges in the back garden, with mates bringing theirs round to play. You can't put a price on those memories. What did you want my parents to do? Hand them over at Christmas but then take them back because they might be worth something in 40 years. No thank you.
maybe so, I have never seen one that can is dead on.. yet but I haven't seen them all. more so if the bubble and figure is on it. Now I have seen pretty damn close
Vintage collectors are happy with ANY unopened figure whatever the fucking card back is...They are rare and expensive and to find a decent fig unopened is always a win no matter Fucking what the card is...A,B 12 back or whatever...Most don't give a fuck, Just decent unopened condition.

FX-7 is one of those "why did they even make that?" figures. At least Too- OneBee looked sinister enough to be a bounty hunter for playtime.
I don’t know what’s wrong with everyone. I loved FX7. Look how many arms he’s got!
If Hot Toys made the figure I would buy it in 1/6 scale.

I had this figure back in the day and I did, indeed, get laughed at. We called it the "Salt Shaker" figure.
I had it also. No one laughed at it, or called it names.
Mine identified as a Probe Droid.
I had it and always thought it looked cool.
I still have mine and the full set of 100 original figures.

Same here... Never had, or wanted FX-7.
Yeah, I know no one who ever really wanted it.
Thought FX-7 was boring when i was a kid and still think the same today
I remember having like half a dozen of these droids. I always liked having a bunch of droids for the Jawas.
Same here..i bought tons of droids for my jawa Sandcrawler but that was for the POTF line
I heard FX-7 knew R5-D4 who trained FX-7 to be a Droid Jedi.
I was 4 years old when this figure came out. I thought it was The Imperial Probe Droid, and that the middle part was so he could stand up.
