I love seeing repairs for the original Star Wars figures! You really came up with an great solution, Dave, and I agree with you -- the end results of your lego modifications really is a pleasing fix! It looks great! I actually like that the arm is slightly different than the others, yet it doesn't feel jarring. It's the right sort of Kenner SW aesthetic. It looks like a rare, Kenner variant or something! Bravo! Very good! I like the idea of customizing a broken droid figure anyway. Those Jawas are always modifying droids on Tatooine, mixing and matching parts. I'm guessing that it's fairly common practice when it comes to repairing droids in galaxies far, far away! lol.
I was always interested in the robots of SW and was very keen to get this one but it was a bit of a disappointment because it just didn't really do anything...
I have a bit of nostalgia for that LEGO piece you used here. It’s used as a robotic claw hand for a bad guy in a set I loved as a kid. And I used spares of it a lot as either a wrench or some cooking utensils in my LEGO playtime. So seeing it used in this restoration is pretty neat. I’m curious to see how else you can use those pieces in other restorations.
Simple fix indeed. I thought you were gonna split the bottom pinsor and file the top one narrower like the vintage one was. But a pretty good solution. Repair on Brother....😎
Thanks. You can do as much or as little as you like when it comes to modifying the Lego part. I try to keep it simple so everyone can feel they can have a go.
This is great! Lego and creativity to the rescue once again! I had one of these figures as a kid, and the bottom did indeed fall off without any attempt by us kids to remove it.
Thanks for yet another great video with a simple, workable solution to a common problem, and I see it's starting up already. This might lead to The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly Part 3 all by itself.
I am SO GRATEFUL you posted this! I actually quite loved this figure growing up (couldn't explain why, but I played with it a bunch and it's become a key element of my Hoth batch-tank diorama). A couple years ago, your videos inspired me to try crafting a replacement claw out of modeling plastic, but my efforts gave pretty dismal results. Fortunately, my sad attempt is easy enough to undo, so I'll be tackling this project soon! I do wonder if it would be worthwhile to try filing down the top bit and cutting a narrow groove in the bottom bit to more closely replicate the "two down-one up" claw structure of the original?
Thanks. You can really do as much or as little as you want in the way of modifying the Lego part. I like to keep things simple so everyone can fell they can have a go. Just go for it.
I love when I see that Lego disclaimer. Also, I don't know who humbrol paint is, but they should pay you residuals for all the advertising they get from you.
I never got this figure, but I always wanted it. I loved robots that didn't just look like a guy in a suit. As for replacing the claw, I'm surprised that you don't have a 3D printer, and didn't just print one. I don't have a 3D printer myself, but it always seems like I'm the exception and everyone else has one.
Most people don't have 3d printers. And I try to show fixes anyone can have a go at. I want everyone to feel that they can fix their toys without the need for expensive bits of kit. Cheers
Bricklink is fun! You can also see the different colors of pieces and even order pieces from there unless they've changed it? Can't imagine they have, that was the whole point of it. Or do you just prefer to buy from ebay? Are the prices better?
wondering since that claw piece is so "thick" would you be able to split the bottom part with a file and make it even closer to the org? I mean it still looks great..just I know nothing to too hard for TP!!!
Thanks. You can do as much or as little as you like when it comes to modifying the Lego part. I try to keep it simple so everyone can feel they can have a go.
Hi there, like your videos, just subscribed. Is there a way that you can restore the colours on a faded box, it seems that it has been exposed to sunlight ?
@@toypolloi Could try it out, but is there a liquid solution or spray that is used, lets say for protecting your Paintings from sunlight, or the elements ? Just to make it popout, i was considering hair spray, but am scared that it will remain sticky to the touch, what do you think ? And thanks for the reply.

I always used him as a Jedi training droid cause he held Bespin Luke’s lightsaber perfectly. One of my favorites!!
Idk why but I love the Lego destruction, I know it's gonna be a good when the warning message pops up. 😂
Great repair job and now the Kenner FX-7 is ready for display!
Nice one. This was always one of my favourite figures as a child, so good to see it being given a new lease of life.

Nice custom repair

Another nice fix. It'd be great if you could assemble all the Star Wars figures you've fixed together for a video/ group photo.
Nice idea. I'll see what I can do with that. Some I've given away already, but I must have quite a few.

LEGO reigns supreme yet again.😂 Brilliant fix Dave!
Brilliant! I have 3 of these, all missing that arm! Thanks so much!!

That's interesting. The ones I have are firmly stuck on. Maybe it depends on the factory that made them as to how the base was attached.
very fine and clean job
I've always thought FX-7 was underrated. I thought he made a great looking droid.
The Imperial Probe Droid action figure looks like the offspring of a Dalek and a TV weathergirl.
Thanks for yet another great video with a simple, workable solution to a common problem, and I see it's starting up already. This might lead to The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly Part 3 all by itself.
Nice fix as always.
Another satisfying, enjoyable video.

What a great fix, Id be happy to do this if I find an fx7 without a claw 🤘🤘
Loved this video. I did the exact same thing after watching this and the end result was great.
Great to hear!
Looking at this figure, It kind of resembles one of the earlier concept designs for the Dalek.
And now FX-7 can hold all sorts of lego items!
He can use his Lego arm to re attach the heads of other star wars figures with Lego axle pins. The circle is complete.
I love when I see that Lego disclaimer. Also, I don't know who humbrol paint is, but they should pay you residuals for all the advertising they get from you.

Nice!! my FX-7 doesn't have a claw! I'll try this!
Love the repair looks great 👍🏻
Thanks 👍
Nice one dave

I generally find eBay cheaper. And I'm always on there hunting for parts for other projects. I just use brick link to find the part numbers.
A figure still on my ‘need’ list - may just pick up one in need of help now 😊

The haters will be fuming about that teardown segment....🤣
Once again amazing work Dave, sorry you had to sacrifice an FX-7 fir the greater good.
He was already broken, so it was a sacrifice worth doing. I'm sure some will not be pleased!
So you find the part on bricklink where all colours are available yet buy on ebay at an inflated price?
I've never found it expensive from eBay. Cheers
Hi there, like your videos, just subscribed. Is there a way that you can restore the colours on a faded box, it seems that it has been exposed to sunlight ?
Hi, thanks. Not that I know of without scanning in the artwork, fixing it, and printing out again.

Not that I know of. Cheers
i remember this Figure and the Buttompart was missing, i just realised it watching this Video o.o
Good old Lego 😄
Hello toy polloi I was wondering if you know were I could get some eagle eye action man arms for a reasonable price thanks
eBay, toy fairs, Facebook groups. Be patient and you'll find one. Cheers
@@toypolloi thanks
🏅
AH the darlek stand-in toy
I'd not thought of that. But he does look a bit like a Dalek.
"I've made a few special modifications myself...."
🙂
3D printer. Invest in one
