- Previously I built a full wall bookcase. In this video I make the trim to go on that case. If you missed the first part of this build you can check it out here:

Nice to see a 'real world' project, not something done in a >$10k workshop. I was specifically looking for plywood shelving build ideas and this is my favourite so far.
Great video showing exactly what I needed to see. Thank you!
Thank you for the update. Even with the minor errors it's still a very nice project. You should be proud!
It now has two coats of paint and I think it looks great. I might have to come back and fill some of those gaps.
an inspiration, how humble of you to point out the imperfections of the project. Thank you for not playing music.
Thanks for sharing your work, I'm as new to this that you were two years ago so i find this to be very useful when planning my project. Nicely done!
Great work, that's quite a project. You could use a cove bit with matching radius to your roundover to make a more seemless joint between the trim pieces.
I really appreciated you showing every step. There was one particular one right in the middle that I was trying to figure out and a lot of people just get right over that so thank you
Happy to help! Sometimes it is far too easy to skip steps.
Great job, Seth!
Thank you. This has been a lot of work but it is paying off now.
Love the videos, this was plenty good enough to do the job it needs to do - Never let perfection be the enemy of function.
Oh, and I would have liked to have seen the bottom trim board install as well.
Great job!
When measuring out the distance between shelves you should always mark all shelves at once instead of measuring from shelf to shelf - a lot more accurate. Overall, nice job. I’m sure there is a lot of people commenting that never actually do anything like this.
That looks great Seth!
Thank you. It looks very nice painted white.
A true wood worker, pointing out all the mistakes that you can't even see.... I do exactly the same 🤣
Do you're best and silicone the rest!
Great watch from Wallingford UK
Nice job. Happy wife, happy life!
I hear that a lot and I have to say that it is very true 99% of the time.
Loved it
I would be giddy with excitement to have this wall on my house!
My wife has really enjoyed it so far. It is mostly full of books now.
Good job 👍
Its nothing a little white silicone caulk cant hide. That was a lot of work but came out great.
With a sander this would have been a lot faster. I think it has turned out well too!
Suggestion for the bracketing. Instead of a bracket, use a small 1x1 strip and screw that into stud. Place the high one on top of a shelf and the low one on the bottom of a shelf. Then screw into shelf from top or bottom. Only cost is screws (had all the 1x material already) and is hidden pretty well. Caulk, my friend. Caulk. Before painting, fill in those imperfections! 🙂
Happy wife happy life great video..
Yes indeed. Thanks for watching.
It looks pretty good. Do you have all the dimensions step by step for this project?
Im planning on making myself a bookcase/blu ray holder. It will looknlike a bookcase but also have 2 doors that open amd close like a cabinet. This will be my first project since i made one in high school a regular bookcase.
Nice! That seems like a good project to get back into woodworking!
@@LandtoHouse yeah I just got the plywood today and boy that was hard to put into my room till I get the other supplies. Since I couldn't find nothing lower than a 4 X 8 I had to get that bc the others were too small. Now I know what kind of bit to use to rabot and stuff since I know what size plywood
@@badams83 3/4" plywood is nice and heavy at 4x8 sheets. I have carried many a sheet. Once you cut it down it's not so bad.
@@LandtoHouse What kind of tool should i use to cut it bc i remember in high school for the back we used a jig saw to cut the plywood
@@badams83 I typically stick with a circular saw and guide. You can even set the depth of the circular saw to be very shallow and cut out the places the Shelves will sit. You'll just have to make several passes.
Super.
Thank you.
Do you think brads would work okay instead of finishing nails?
I’m glad you pointed out the flaws and what caused them. My wife has been asking for a wall bookshelf “library”, and out of 20+ YT videos, yours is the only one that I think I could actually build with tools I already own.
Thank you for watching. As long as the brads will sink into the plywood deep enough it should work. I had the finishing nails laying around already.
I have probably watched the same videos that you did. Not a lot of them to start with. I wanted to make this build for anyone to follow.
The process was right you have to make sure the floor is perfectly level and the ceiling if not , make a level base and a top then you can make to suit , it’s the little things
I would have screwed the two pieces together before putting the trim on to make the front edge even.
For the individual shelves, why not use glue? I'm worried heavy books may sag the shelf and a painted shelf will show cracks between the trim and shelf.
Great amateur build, thanks
It was a good first shelf build. Still standing and holding books.
Happy wife - happy life!
Those words ring true.
White caulk would fill in those gaps nicely.
you can put wood filler in gaps, no?
Yes you sure can!
Once all the books are up there, all those minor things will vanish!
I put a full row of books up this week and the small errors are already better. You are right.
Lot of shavings at 1:16 because you move the router to the wrong direction. By the way, nice job.
Yes I am learning the router. Not too good so far.
Wish he didn’t skipped steps on how to put it together. Like how the horizontal Woods are attached to the vertical one
Do your best, chaulk the rest.
Haha words of wisdom.
You should start over.
This bookshelf has done very well over the years.
Should had stained it instead.
My wife wanted it white. So its white haha
A++ for effort and attitude, I applaud you. But.... it sure is uuuuuuugllllleeeeeee.
Good lord this is terrible.
For my first full wall bookcase it turned out well.
Such a sloppy work...
Aww. For a first time shelf maker it turned out well. If you would post your work here so we can learn from you. Thanks.
@@LandtoHouse that's a stupid argument. I don't see how my eyesight has any connection to your skills.... I didn't accuse you of anything that isn't obvious - a sloppy job with huge gaps and uneven shelves. I don't see how my personal talents have anything to do with the situation. I'm not the one trying to get attention on YT with a sloppy job...
It's all cool. You don't have to share your work. Luckily this is youtube, a free to use platform that has all types of content. Good and bad. So .... you get what you pay for. Have a good day and I hope your wife enjoys the perfect bookcase with rolling ladder you build her.
