Ones of those iconic songs that define our lives, stay with us for so long. When I hear this I always think of Steve and Donald. Then the Keyboard Genius Leon, I will always mis leon.
@@chuckster3629 Thank you for sharing God Bless!! Bruce PS I graduated in 1970 and had a chance to see Leon perform in the summer of 1972. Bought my tickets from a local record store promoter----- probably bought two tickets for 12 bucks a piece or something like that. Anyway we found out that the concert was being cancelled and we were told to send our tickets back by snail mail for a refund.. Well I was having none of that,-------so my friend and I went to a local bar to pound a few and get the courage for what I assumed would be a confrontation once inside the store demanding our money back from their cash register. We put up a crazy scene and it's not clear why they just didn't call Cleveland Police Department and for sure would have been arrested. But the Lord was with us, we got our money back for the tickets and no further incident. Leon's spirited persona has always had an influence on me in ways unforeseen seen:-)
I grew up just about 70 miles from Memphis..... Green Onions was always on the playlist of FM100.... Loved my music upbringing.... Thanks for sharing this video.
A professional musician doesn't care what color you are(black-white-yellow-red etc, ets. If you can play-write songs-compose then jump right in and get your"feet wet".Happy New Year(2018) from Orem,UT.
I was THERE. My husband and I were there for the Cajun dancing, and then we heard that something really important was going to happen over at the blues stage. I left my phone with my stuff, not thinking I was going to need to film anything. And then, all of a sudden, there was Booker-T. WOW. And he was playing and it was so beautiful, and I think I was four people back from the front of the stage. And then out walked Leon Russell. It was a complete surprise. Double Wow. Thank you SO MUCH for filming this, because I did not have my phone for this very special moment.
....if you had a chance to do it over would you rather be experiencing that moment in time or just observing it thru your cell phone ??? Do you really want to live your life through an electronic device - I am glad I'm from the generation that experienced life with out video cameras. :)
Dayum.........Leon hobbled in and whooped out the funk. I'm a onion lover but don't think I've ever had green onions on a sandwich but it's gonna happen soon. Thank the Almighty Leon could thrive in any genre...and excell. Hot dayum. If I only had an ounce of every aspect of Mr. Russell.... Nothiin but great respect for him.
And now something you already knew... Leon knows his way around that keyboard!
Hard to believe that Leon had only 5-1/2 months to go. We'll always miss you Leon. He's gone now, but he left plenty behind for us to enjoy.
This song reminds me of my Mom. She LOVED hearing the organ! Lee Michaels was another one of her favorites...
We were at this show! Incredible. RIP Leon Russell.
What an awesome blessing for you!

@@chuckster3629 Interesting you should be very proud! Many years apart?
@@chuckster3629 This had to be one of Leon's last performances?

This is magnificent! A glorious classic from more than 50 years ago, and our dear Leon, who is so deeply missed.
An evergreen classic from Booker T -
First time I ever see him playing an instrument that wasn't a keyboard. 🧅🎵🎶🎹🎸👏🏻💯🤍🤍🎶🧅💯
I was standing right them feeling so very lucky to be soooo close. I was never so happy to be behind someone!
This is the real deal. It don't get any better than this.

Music has the power to remove all prejudicial barriers. With music there are no colors, its all just about the art. Too bad we aren't all musicians.
