thank you. i miss them very much. Ryan would be 18 now (they died in 1998) and able to fly out to see his aunt and fish with his uncle. see the ocean, etc. Ryan was born on the same day as me, Sept. 27. what a joy he was. He kept asking me if i was gonna visit that year for our birthday and i just couldn't make it. They died on Oct. 5, 1998. If i had gone it is possible i would be with them now, in Heaven. not my time i guess.
this song makes me think of my brother and nephew who were killed by a drunk driver. i know they are in a better place. the roads are paved in gold, it's always Summer, they'll never get cold, they'll never get hungry, they'll never get old and gray. god bless Keith and Ryan.
i finally know who sings this great song ... by the way, there's a local singer in Taiwan called "Wubai" who has the similiar guitar accompaniment like this song. The accompaniment of this song makes me remind of him~
good point, usually is very hard to hear the bass, but there are a lot of bands that turn it up in studio, but live is always hard to hear it amazing preformance by the way, i love this band
@ Texasyesfan: I guess you're right. The Verses are a little bit familiar with Tom Jones' Delilah from 1968. (@ GMadd9) But I think that the Chorus is NOT from pachebels canon! I listened to it and I think it doesn't sound like it, even if there might be A, E, F#m or sth. like that in there. There are so many songs that have the same chord-scheme but still they are different. RESPECT TO FASTBALL! LOVE THIS SONG! Thanks for your help ;)
These guys are really cool. I remember years ago someone telling me "you should check out Fastball, there is way more to them than just their hit" Anybody who plays a Rockpile song is cool with me.
this cool song VERY GOOD COMPOSITIONS the best of band FASTBALL of the 90´S THAN ALIVE of ROCK the everyone times living rock of all time 60 70 80 90 y 2000 GREETINGS OF PERUVIAN arriba rock mierda que viva siempre jaja porque nunka pasara de moda el rock ROCKPERÚ
I like this song in the context that it reminds me that God alone knows the and we have departed from it and so i am presently trying to return or stay on "the way"
@kanadier1 Talking about Fastball's The Way. don't know if you got an answer to your question long ago?!? I Don't really know if it is a cover or if maybe they borrowed some part of the song. I? think it sound so familiar cuz its in a vary strait-forward rock style. And it has a strong Rockabilly "lean". I suppose its this way for a reason. It makes it so catchy and modern ketch. Remember Rockabilly is from the 50`s
@kanadier1 It could be a familiar reminder of the song "Besame Mucho" which was covered many a time throughout the years. You can really hear it during the verses chord progression.
It's good that they finally got somebody to at least sit in as a 4th player live. They often just play this as a 3-piece, which is really hard because it needs two guitars, bass, drums, and keyboard. But the bass player isn't boogie-driving the choruses at all, so the whole thing falls flat. The groove is missing.
It is definitely an original song, but I understand why you might think that. It definitely has a 1970s-rock vibe to it - especially in this version. The album/radio version is great too but slightly over-produced in my humble opinion.
@kanadier1 OH yea I forgot to mention. IT IS INDEED ORIGINAL. Check out Theo Katzman, White picket castle ONOTHER VARY ORIGINAL sound. There nobodies ENJOY
I'm an old Boomer from the fifties/sixties, and I absolutely love this song. IMO, it's among the last of the truly great rock hits.

fastball's one of those bands that everyone knows at least one of their songs and recongnizes it right away, but no one knows who the band is.

This takes me back to my senior year in college--good times!
This performance itself, I think, epitomizes the deeper meaning of the song itself. It's quite the effect.

It sucks that they are stuck playing such small venues like that now.

Except for the bridge .doesn't anyone else notice that is basically Besume Mucho ? I do like this song so much better though gotta say.. very nice.
It's missing the piano in the song there's piano in the studio version
Nice version of their biggest hit.
It sounds amazing, just the drums are a bit like me doing dish-washing
It's the real band. They're ten years older now =\
En Chile???
was this before they got famous or a recent concert?
sounds pretty good considering the drums aren't mic'd
6 people haven't been on the highway
@dizzle49er i was just about to say that LOL
I've always thought this was a version of "Bésame mucho". The melody is identical 😱
Holy shit! MIND BLOWN! I can totally sing the lyrics from Besame Mucho to this! #beatles
ToMara
Nope. It's a version of Delilah by Tom Jones
Film the lady bassist!!
