These Days Lyrics:
It's coming round again
Slowly creeping hand
Of time and its command
Soon enough it comes
And settles in its place
Its shadow in my face
Puts pressure in my day
This life well it's slipping right through my hands
These days turned out nothing like I had planned
It's coming round again
The slowly creeping hand
Of time and its command
It settles in its place
Its shadow in my face
Puts pressure in my day
Soon enough it comes
Here it is again
Slowly creeping hand
Time and it's command
Soon enough it comes
Settles in it's place
It's shadow in my face
Undignified and lame
This life well it's slipping right through my hands
These days turned out nothing like I had planned
Control well it's slipping right through my hands
These days turned out nothing like I had planned
Soon enough it comes
Soon enough it comes
Too tie us down
It's coming round again
Slow, slowly creeping hand
This life well it's slipping right through my hand
These days turned out nothing like I had planned
Control well it's slipping right through my hand
These days turned out nothing like I had planned
Powderfinger performing 'These Days' for the final time live.
About Powderfinger.
One of Australia’s most loved and successful bands ever, Powderfinger’s domination of the music scene spanned two decades and included five #1 albums, countless hit singles, two #1 spots in triple j’s Hottest 100, 18 ARIA Awards, 3 APRA Awards and some of the biggest tours this country has ever seen. They left an indelible mark, with songs like ‘My Happiness’, ‘These Days’ and ‘Sunsets’ becoming part of the fabric of Australia’s cultural landscape.
How many Aussies come back to this over and over and over? never gets old.
just did lol!
Absolutely
yup
Yeah because who knew it'd turn out like this?
I'm Irish and I seen these guy play in Dublin...they were amazing. Very underrated globally
I'm 55 this year. I've seen everything from Midnight Oil in my teens to whatever it is they call music in 2024. Powderfinger are the greatest Aussie band Ive seen in my lifetime.
edit: That includes Cold Chisel. Just.
The Gurus gave it a fair crack
The Best Music , nothing like Great Music especially live. Little River Band ,Ian Moss .The Saints 😊😊
Hunters & collectors; up and downs and don't forget the Go betweens. There are so many. We are blessed.
"As a 44-year-old man, I find myself coming back to this song over and over, not just for the music but for what it represents. Powderfinger was the soundtrack of my youth-a time when we all thought we had endless days ahead of us. But life has a way of slipping through your fingers; no matter how tightly you try to hold on, the years fade and reshape in ways you never expect. This song reminds me that every moment, every laugh, every tear is precious. I carry the memories, but I’ve learned that nothing is promised, and time waits for no one. To anyone listening-hold onto what matters, let go of what doesn’t, and don’t take a single second for granted."
I'm 53 and same mate. Travelling with a portable cd player listening to the album. Great memories
Wonderful words , I rarely make comment , yes the fragility of life , one minute we are here the next gone in a second
The old Bob Marley- no chains around my feet but im not free
I'm lucky I grew up in eighties , great music , no phones , these days control slipping right through my hands, kids today controlled by social media , before you know it look up from the screen you've just missed life , it's quite sad really
Wish they would play again, so beautiful.
We are the same age and I feel the same way
Spot on
I have stage 4 cancer, this song touches the heart. Wish I could've done more for my wife and kids. God bless
힘 내세요! ❤❤❤
Hope you’re doing well ✝️🙏
Hi!
Be kind and positive to everyone
bless your soul brother if you're still with us - prayers to you and your family
“These days” is Australian suburban life’s captured essence, melancholy and sun bleached, simply beautiful
You've hit the nail on the head there. Perfectly put
@@seandowney5249 great Aussie band, always will be 🇦🇺
Surely is. The sound of Australia humming in the background as you sit on the verandah with a tinnie listening to the cicadas and wait for Christmas
Beautifully said
Life was so much better
It is 2020, and this band was never known here in the USA. I have just discovered them a few weeks ago because I listen to a podcast that has an Australian co host. He mentioned this band and I got hooked on my happiness. This jd the first time I heard this song, and apparently it was their last performance, I cried. Even though I just heard about them, i feel very connected to this band. They are still gaining new fans in 2020.
Roger Toledano right on, in New Zealand, same situation as myself, check out fat Freddys drop and six60, you’re in for a treat mate
Join there you tube channel they have a new/live concert on the 23/5 should be awesome
I cry every time I hear it for the same reason.
It's all killer, enjoy 😎
You should watch their live co-vid show tonight- one night only
Luck, timing , management, POWDERFINGER should have been a worldwide success
They didn't sell out and become indoctrinated Freemasons, like nearly every other artist.
nah, happy with what they achieved. Aussie legends. we know them, barely anyone else does. they're ours.
Got diagnosed with Parkinson’s two years ago , the words to this song have real meaning to me, This life well it’s slipping right through my hands, these days turned nothing like I planned - its slowing creeping in . It’s bringing a tear😢
Keep going chief.
Fk... hang in there mate
Hope you’re ok. We could have a cure tomorrow, you never know. Stay strong

So sad. Love this song. May your father rest in peace
My son died for 1 year. These song war so god.
Hope his memory has remained strong.
I have terminal cancer.
These words touch me so deeply I have them tattooed on my arm for posterity.
Wish I’d had the chance to see them live
Haha
I sincerely hope you beat the odds x
Hope yr still here.. ❤

Everybody saying Powderfinger weren't known in the US, not quite right. I've known and loved this band since I first heard them shortly after my brother died in September 2000, a few days after after the release of Odyssey Number Five. They were one of the things I can credit with helping me deal with my grief about his loss of life.
This song explained my life for many years. I was adrift and had fallen into a life that was not what I had imagined when I was young. I felt trapped and depressed. But rather than end it, I thought I should shoulder the blame for my poor decisions and choose the life I wanted. Now I have the life I want and have found my happiness. It can be done.
I am hearing you on your comment. I also need to & am owning it & so dearly want to change things...hope you are doing well!
It's not too early to come out of retirement guys....pls pls plssss tour again...Australian music needs you...
110%!!
Yeah so true. Most of the other bands of the early 90s have had a revival. So we are due for a PF tour soon.
please!
oh come on, the Arias are coming up, with all that musical talent like um ... like umm... those um
Misapa Chilala wffwddd
The MOST underrated Aussie band ever! I grew up with other great Aussie bands - Cold Chisel, INXS, AC/DC ETC ETC and saw them all live in pubs but Powderfinger just resonates with world class musicians, songwriters and performers. If you saw their virtual live concert during COVID you will understand.
You guys have to re-form and share your magic once again - there are so many people who will love this! 😎🥰👍
I've avoided watching this for years, well today I finally did it. And yep, it's as emotional as I thought it would be, balling my eyes out. I first saw them as a 17 year old, they've always been part of my adult life. So many memories and good times listening to their songs . Thanks gents 👌
dont worry mate you're not alone, brought a tear to my eye too , fucking magical 🤗
Reminds me of when I watched crowded houses final performance truly sad but thanks for the awesome music boys use are legends
Brilliant song, brilliant performance. Powderfinger, one of the most underrated bands ever.
Well written mate
I am a Canadian boy, saw these guys once and they were awesome, my Aussie buddy turned me on to them and they turned out to be one of my fave bands of all time. Would have loved to see them this one last time!! Lets hope they get back together for a reunion tour!!
I hope you caught their Covid concert live streamed
@@kayelle8005 thanks Kerryn I got up at 5am to watch it in my Mancave and it was amazing!! I have it downloaded and love to listen to it!! Best regards
being a Brisbane lad Powderfinger never denied or cringed from their origins! One of the greatest bands ever!
Still moved to tears at this performance, 12 years after it posted.
Grown man, shedding a tear here... How good are The Finger.!!! That track was perfectly captured by Berny Boy, so moving... Spend 24+ years honing your craft and sadly PF were never better than when they disbanded. What a talent Bernard is, they're all brilliant... Australia's best kept secret - LONG LIVE AUSSIE LIVE MUSIC
Its almost a crime Powderfinger didn't make it globally, they had huge success in Australia.
Powderfinger is for us.
I'm from New Zealand and a big fan. So many good hits, and their songs aren't just spewed out commercial shit like so many songs are these days. They are true talent, a real band. cheers Australia.
Disagree to a point. But respect the intent. PF rock the world. They are legend-dairy. Rock on dudes.
So many great musicians out there. I guess we must share it
..bit of an oasis feel about this one ..or visa versa
This masterpiece will never get old and always brings tears to my eyes every time I watch it. The emotion that is shown has such a beautiful effect on the song. Powderfinger is definitely one of the best Aussie bands of all time, and I wish the re-formed.
Will forever be one of my favourite bands of all time. Got me through some of the toughest times life has thrown at me. ❤
Me too Matt, merry Xmas mate 👍🤘
Not many songs that hit you like this one does, TRUTH!
wear a helmet
This would have to be the best final song delivered by any band. Nailed the emotion, already in the song, to the moment, perfectly. Thank you. Obviously in tears years later.
Salute.
Yep. Gets me every time, and deeper than I'd like for some reason 😢 They hit on a truth with this song.
I never heard of Powderfinger before 2006, after spending 2 seasons snowboarding in the Canadian Rockies, I was a fan...I miss all the indie music these days...Time is a bugga 👍✌️
I love this song! Still playing it all these years. Long live the 80's 🎉
✌️💚🙏
this is 2000s... but yes lol
80s? Jesus. Timing’s a bit off there mate..
They year was 2001. I was somewhere in the tent at SITG, listening to this gem, having an epiphany i needed to leave my partner.
...i was 17... Such deep.
Miss you, Kat. Xoo
This guy has more emotion in his voice than most people have in their body.
I'm not an Aussie but an Aussie colleague of mine introduced me to PowderFinger about 10 years ago - it was one of the best music tips ever! This is a poignant and powerful performance, how can you not love it?
Odyssey Number Five was a extraordinary album for an equally extraordinary decade.
This is one of my favourite songs from these guys. Always brings a tear to my eye and a lump to my throat. Absolutely awesome.
Bought this album during my 'year out in Oz' back in 2000/2001. 14 years later back in the UK (and now happily married and in my 40s) I still love this track and the great memories I have. Good times!
Dan Potter exactly the same. Backpacking in 01/02
Me too. Same year. Happy and Incredible times
@@neilkent8328 And me as well. Year round the world in 2000/1. Spent about 5 months in Oz. Loved these guys ever since. They make an awesome noise. Just as good nearly 20 years later.
@@stevenpink641 good on yah mate some of the best crew we had on our grape harvesting crew were poms (and believe me that’s a term of endearment ) we would love to see you blokes again may we never change our flag proud of our history.
October 2021, locked down in Melbourne. Stay safe everyone, big hugs to the world in these days❤️
I work in a servo and I promise, whenever a powderfinger song is playing, any customer aged between 18/50 knows the song... either sings, taps, hums... ice junkies dance.. ♥️ u guys xx
I work in a bottlo.. Same thing.. Same thing..
Played this song at my dads funeral
Brilliant song, brilliant performance. Powderfinger, one of the most underrated bands ever.
🇰🇭
And I bet it was for a brilliant man. I know it's 3 years old this comment, but I just want you to know we are thinking of you and your dad 🤙
I thought I understood what this song meant at 16 when it came no. 1 in the hottest 100. A few months later I learned what pain and regret and loss really feels like and how real the sentiment behind this song is. Now when I hear it I recall how innocent that 16 year old was and it’s a knife in the heart.
I'm sorry that happened to you at such a young age. Everybody deserves a few good years of innoncence. Yous was cut way too short. Eventually it happens to us all. I'm 70.
Now 58. Mum dad 87. Time really does slip through your hands. Lyrics for everyone. Just love this song as it reminds me how precious life and TIME truly is. Thankyou and long happy life POWDERFINGER
I’m 62 and lost mum and dad over 20 years ago so enjoy lucky you
With all the 80s and 90s bands coming back on the scene, and the enormous draw they have for crowds in festivals like Day of the Green and Red Hot Summer Tours, I'm really surprised that Powderfinger hasn't reformed and toured. They could headline everywhere! Hunters & Collectors are doing it now too. So come on Powderfinger! Get back on the road! Put out another album! We fucking love you!
Time to start crying after that banga of a live performance
ua-cam.com/video/r_V5jNSYjAs/v-deo.html they just performed online for the first time since this performance for afew charities, I'm sure you are aware, but on the off chance you or anyone who notices thi sisn't- enjoy
@@kuikyroje haha yeah I should have specified but I had just finished watching that when I came to this video
Best performance of the best song by the best Aussie rock band ever!
I believe INXS are the greatest Aussie rock band ever
I believe Savage Garden are the greatest Aussie rock band ever.
Get out.
Your funny
You're
I come back and watch this several times a year. Always goosebumps, always tears.
Tears for sure with this song
Watching these guys say good-bye to their hometown crowd is awesome. I had never seen them before, but this video says to me that every once in a great while the world is 100% the way it should be. If you're going to go out, this is the way to do it.
We are blessed with Powderfinger, I love it's only known in Australia, it defines us, money is irrelevant
The still at 8.04 really did me in the feelz. The saddest and most beautiful moment in Aussie rock ever... What song writers, what a vocalist, what a band
+Charlie Aydin Agree!!!! Bernard sooo hot...
Couldn't have said it better Charlie, so sad yet so amazing! Give anything for one more live proformance.
Stop being an insensitive fuckhead
yeah they maybe, but they've still got more talent than any cunt that's come out in the past 10 years
Totally agree amazing band one I really miss.... I I was so lucky and got to meet them...☺️
I was there at this final concert. How emotional to go back to this night under the stars, reflecting after new years 2024/25
One of my biggest regrets is that I wasn't at this concert. Watching this here I can feel the emotion of the band and the audience. It makes me tear up every time I watch it.
In an age of views this feels underrated unbelievable song deserves more
Luke Barton i reckon this is their best.
This song hits me hard !! Absolutely one of the greatest performances I've ever seen. I love this song !
I heard about these guys from my cousin randomly back in 2001, after he heard "My Happiness" on a trans-Atlantic flight. I got home, found Internationalist in an HMV, bought it, then went back the next day to buy Odyssey Number Five, and was lucky enough to see them when they came to Toronto. It was amazing to see them in such a small venue (they were - and still are, tragically - unknown in Canada, really). I was lucky, and they were awesome.
A dear friend and beautiful soul was moved to hospice today. Cancer is taking him too fast, he just started his life. So cruel. This song is it.
I’m so sorry. 🙏
@@ange3489 Thank you. He went with the angels and is at peace now.
3:38 - 4:55 is just... I have no words. The power, the emotion, the joy, the sadness, the moment - it's everything. I love it.
I think 5:29 is my favorite moment, with the drummer nodding and appreciating that this is indeed the way it should be, the way it should end
@@MarijnvanWingerdenJon Coghil
I listened to this concert from the footpath outside Riverstage. I feel honoured to have been so close.
Song lyrics that are specific but unspecific...to bring you in, to make your mind fill in the blanks. To make the song specific to you...so easy and therefore so meaningful for you....equals a hit.
I come back to this very often, my glory days in Australia, which I spent more time living the moment when I was there. WOuld hop on plane to see them if they reunited.
I grew up with you mob. I'm just a kid from Brisbane. I feel lonely but not when I listen to you. You are home.
I dunno how many times I've watched this over the years. Makes me cry every single time. Reminds me of my teenage years. Chills at the beach countless nights with powder finger in the background. They will always be gods. Far out. Nothing compares...
Terri Barrett and Australia days down at the beach playing cricket and boogie boarding with a hotdog while it's playing in the background
I grew up listening to powderfinger too and even now, years later and living on the other side of the world, as soon as I hear a powderfinger song I see the beach in my home town and I'm immediately home. They just sound like Australia. I can't describe it. The best band ever.
When I listen to this song I'm always reminded of the movie 'Two Hands'. Rest in peace Heath😚
The two hands version is the best version and suited that scene perfectly. One of the strongest scenes in any Aussie movie.
They wrote this song, specifically for the movie two hands
Great movie. I had not listened to the song much until I saw the movie.
Who else feels like this sums up 2024?
Those were indeed the days. I fell in love with this band right from their early days, and was lucky enough to see them live a couple of times. Australia has produced some damn fine bands over the years, and these guys are up there with the best of them.
Too fucken right!!!!!!
_ Harvs bloody oath
I am 65 years old. They took their name from one of my two favourite Neil Young songs, the other one being Like A Hurricane. I've seen Young live four times, but unfortunately never got to see these guys once. One of the great Aussie bands ever.
These days truly have not turned out like I thought. Covid 2020. So much lost time. Hugs, kisses and family to loved ones.
I am both amazed and sad I am JUST finding this incredibly talented band in 2019. Truly moving.
Was lucky enough to get tickets to this last ever concert. Such a poignant time in my life and this song reflects that. Such an amazing band. 🤘🏽
It's nearly 2025!. The last few seconds of the song really get me. When they all smile at each other as if they remember why they make music. Thank you boys for providing the soundtrack to some of my best memories.
These guys deserved so much more.
I was at this gig, I went alone because I knew how special it would be love❤❤
Absolutely brilliant Australian music!
They were my first ever concert! Festival Hall in Brisbane 2001. I was in grade 11. Something for Kate opened and it is still one of the best nights of my life
Yes! Both Powder finger and Something For Kate such fantastic Aussie bands! Those days…. Please take me back!!!!
same! powder finger opening for silver chair ❤ feel blessed as F to say that was my first concert 😭
@@terrifryday3641 good first concert!! You wouldn't think they'd pair well but Powderfingers earlier stuff was a lot heavier than their later stuff so makes sense
I think that would just both great Australian bands, that majority of people loved both of. we were also regional (Cairns) so wasn't a lot of concerts to really tailor to specific taste aha @@timb1319
I am not an Aussie, but I studied in Australia for 6 years, love them and the songs, brought me back so many memories when I was in Aus!!!
Love you guys, played this at my boyfriends funeral when he couldn't handle it anymore, but it gives me hope and beautiful memories.
Sorry to hear about your boyfriend.
It is a beautiful song. Hang in there. Sending you ❤

thats it been away 14 years, time to get my arse into gear and get back home, miss my 2230.
What a tear jerker performance.... I would give away my right foot to see them perform again! Love you powderfinger!!
I have seen this guys in 1997 in Darwin Australis. Best nite out xxxxx
They’re back. They’re back and you could say my happiness is slowly creeping back.
Spent a year travelling around Australia in 2004/05, being from England not sure this band would've registered with me at all but things were different down there and I loved it. Powderfinger and others became a soundtrack to my life and experiences for a year. I met my now wife and we now have a great family and I still often think back to the music that help create such a special period in my life. This Performance I'll re-watch again and again.
When this song came out on the Two Hands OST i fell in love with it. I never thought that i would be 43 now and still alive to listen to it.
Saw them in Cairns in Oct 98...met my gorgeous wife. UK + Canada, 22 years + going strong,,, thank you.
This is the most heart felt song i have ever know. My God.
Really Heart Touching song.
Cruising down the highway on a hot tropical night with the my gal beside me and these guys playing loud as we head to the beach for a skinny dip! This life may not have turned out how I planned, in fact it turned out even better!! I love you my baby Amira...your love healed me and made each day I spent on this planet before I met you, 100% worth it. You've got me baby..🔥🔥
´This life well it's slipping right through my hands
These days turned out nothing like I had planned`
It´s such an emotional song!! In life there is magic everywhere, search for beauty. You owe it to yourself.
Yes, search for beauty, you owe it to yourself!
These days. Those days. Remember all of them . Past and present. It all settles in its place. Peace, joy and music to all.
I miss you guys! I am a French boy who discovered you a few years ago when I moved to Australia... All I can say it that the world seems a much better place when I hear you! Thanks!
It's now 2021 and this has never felt more poignant. 💕 xx
Love your work, guys xx
Somehow even though it's been almost 6 years since their last performance I still feel really sad that such a great amazing band like Powderfinger has broken up. At least they ended their career with quite possibly the best way ever by finishing off on such a great song like this one. Hopefully, one day maybe in years time when they're all old they'll reunite for one final farewell tour before disembarking on their musical careers all together.
all good bands get back together... don't worry Powderfinger will..
+Mikel Shang I hope they do eventually but from what I've seen recently Bernard Flanning seems really happy with his solo stuff.
Mikel Shang they cant make money selling cds too much piratin goin on..only way bands these days to make money is live tours

I love Powderfinger, but i give Brisbane's best band to Regurgitator, simply for their genre-bending. I don't think there are many other Aussie bands which are or were as versatile as Regurgitator is.
That control at 7:20!! Great to see a classic being honoured with authenticity .
My song of 2020. This year was has been an absolute shocker, and this song kept me fighting. When they played this in the Live UA-cam performance this year I felt every emotion. Thankyou Powderfinger.

Quite simply one of the best bands we've had in our great country.
Beauty is there, recognition is up to The world, i love powderfinger is ours, so powerful,
a monumental aussie band...saw them 20+ times.... live on powderfinger
Definitely one of the most emotionally charged guitar solos I’ve ever heard ❤
I was there! This was such a magical yet sad moment! Glad I was able to be there for their final concert!
Imagine if they where here in the 80's, in a good way, when people bought albums, loved the music and appreciated AWESOME music. They still are one of the best, Miss you guys.
They picked me up hitchhiking once when I was a uni student, couldn't believe it.

Did ANY band, EVER, pass into legend with more style and class than this? All these years later and it still brings a tear to my eye. Australia will always love you guys.
This performance of this song makes me cry. Jon's (the drummer's) face at 1:32 gets me. Regret that I never got to see them or really appreciate them until it was almost too late.
