@lago TS Mini is a really solid pedal. I used it because it’s in the same price range as the amp and the Precision Drive would likely be too much for the amp to handle. Thanks for watching :)
It has even got an integrated cab sim and di. That's why I considered it for my pedalboard. But in the end I'll probably go with an anvil preamp from musikding
knowing that to use it live you've got to lug a cab anyway... maybe on the off-chance you use a real clean rig and you need a metal distortion you could use this instead, but why go through the trouble of aby-ing this thing? only real use for it i can think of is studio use to plug directly into the console. knowing what i've said, i fully expect someone in the comments to come up with a great utility for it.
Cabsim is a badass Orange feature no one talks about much. It sounds so good imo, I have a blast jamming with headphones when the family is in bed and I have recorded some direct in stuff I'm happy with.
I just got a Jet City JCA50H and I love it. Affordable and brutal. Took me a little to get a good tone out of it because it was really fuzzy and flubby in the low end. but once I realised it just has too much gain on tap and dialed it back from 10 to 5. It's a nice tight crunchy metal machine.
If you're a guitarist and you share a dorm room at univeristy this thing is a very good alternative to an amp if you like pedals or already have some. But I don't think I'll ever buy that in a situation where space is an issue but I'd rather buy a sound card and some software.
BluG with the Amp1 designing floor pedal based amp, I think TwoNotes has one now as well. I've had no issues using an older Zoom G5 as a fly rig to mixer board either. Coming a looooooong way in terms of portability.
If I could have my entire guitar sound all be on a pedalboard and not need to carry a cab to every gig, absolutely. Especially if you're the kind of person that wants to stay analog and not get a Kemper or an Axe Fx or something. And especially if you only need one or two different tones, coupled with this low of a price tag, it seems like one of the best value options out there.
Well.. This solves my problem. Im traveling w band without van. (We are really bad drivers) So now i can just put this into my gigbag w boost and eq pedal and Im done. Hopfully it will sound Ok trough pa.
Thanks for the convincing tones Pete. In my country we mostly run direct or into shitty amps while we're doing small gigs. The case would be different if we play on bigger gigs
The sound is so so to be honest, and the micro dark for me sucked after testing (the other one though...the micro terror which doesn't have the loop, that one ...rocks. Hard) so two questions, Why not the micro dark? Similar price...looks better. More protected. Secondly why wouldn't they up the wattage a bit...40 would be much better to let it breathe. For me it also lacked in preamp gain. THAT said, man great riffs and playing. You got a fan. Again.
i felt the same thing about the micro dark but the full size dark terror kicks all sorts of ass especially with a really nice boost like a precision drive
The micro terror cleans up beautifully with a good tube.. Big headroom improvements for cleans if you swap in a 12ay7 (but still has boat loads of distortion) I'm kinda bipolar with it.. Pantera megadeth or SRV Jimmy Hendrix.... But never bbking clean
You have no idea what youre talking about. Literally all of the gain on this is from the preamp anf theres a lot of gain too much in fact for modern metal. It needs to be boosted by a OD but also have the gain set to low, now a big concern to me is the amount of clean head room... Because basically it is just a glorified distortion pedal if it doesn't get loud while staying mostly clean. Also 20 Watts Class A/B is fucking LOUD. Doesn't compare to some Line 6 or even Marshall 20 Watt Solid state.
Something in this format has extreme value too me, it's small enough I can keep it on my desk plugged into an IR loader with a few basic effects and an overdrive or distortion and wham...instant song writing set up.
I started with the Katana 50, played with Line6 UX2 som years and now I use the Micro Terror... Micro Terror is a beast compared to the other two amps although they cost about the same.
All the gain!........more gain!........😎. last comment in the video explains why the amp sounds nothing like a micro dark. He doesn’t play live which given the mix he’s put up in video just sounds like a metal drum and bass track. The guitar is not cutting through need to brighten up those tones and stop trying to occupy the frequencies that the bass and drums operate in. But it’s not the end of the world some tweaking of settings and a much better sound is possible. I own a micro dark and it’s a great amp really versatile and a cheap way to get some valve goodness in your life, but as with all gear if it’s not dialled in just right it can sound a bit pants.
Als Spassamp für zu Hause über ne 2x12 zoll Box sicher ne gute Sache, allerdings bezweifel ich das dies Teil in Natura auch nur annähernd so gut klingt wie hier im Video.
Seemed a bit pedampic :O) I'd like to hear another demo with more classic rock riffs, as it was a little difficult to get an idea of it as an all-rounder, but it the price, it would be a great emergency solution when playing live, or a space-saver if only used in a recording situation.
Don't understand why these amps exist. If this is for people who want the smallest rig and won't buy a 2x12 and above, If you need to carry a cab everywhere, then the size argument is not relevant here. For the price of this and a cab - Just buy a preamp pedal and a tube combo, nd connect to the fx return!

They are quite different. Tonally, the Micro Dark has WAY more gain, and requires a Tube Screamer to get any useful sounds. It also has less mids, because metal. Basically, if your primary amplifier if a 5150, then the Micro Dark is your gig bag amp. As for the Micro Terror, it has more mids, less gain, more of a general multitasker. As a tube amp user who gigs, I've always considered this as a perfect backup without the fuss of owning and maintaining a second tube amp. I feel like people are figuring out how to build pedals that are close enough that in a live situation, it would respond in a similar enough way and sound virtually identical. And honestly from the way the notes bloom in this video, I'm fuckin sold.
I dunno what bars you play at, but the ones I play at mic everything up and use the house pa speakers. I use my 20w Orange Crush because it's easier to cart around than my 120w Laney and 4x6 cab

Yea. A good boost pedal would solve that pretty easy, but pete always use that shit mini ts that isnt really enough to give that push
@@iagopedroni2451 maybe using the precision drive could solve this problem.
