    I've had mine for four days now and I'm very impressed with it. I've also spent quite a bit of time studying the online manual and downloadable pdf version. Lots to learn to make full use of its capabilities!

      Hello, I am really interested about this thing 😇
      that’s why I want to ask you sir the expert about how, when and why should i use this recorder at studying or even in my life🧐?

      Hello! This is a very good little recorder. the only thing I use it for is to log Amateur Radio contacts when I am operating portable where it is difficult to keep a written log. I then transcribe the recording to my paper log when I get back home. I think it would be very good for recording lectures and meetings and classes. There is software that you can put on your computer that will let you play back and edit recordings, which makes it easier to search through a long recording than trying to do that on the recorder itself. You could also use it to make notes to yourself, although I have found this difficult to do and prefer to make written notes to myself. I hope this information is helpful!

    Took it to a concert..set recording quality to wav and mic sensitivity to low and it worked well..internal mics could handle concet level audio without distortion. The mic jack can also be set to line-in if you wanted to use external mics with a preamp or battery box. Mostly plastic so low risk of setting off a wand. If it had a true recording level adjustment instead of a high/med/low, would be better, but what can you expect for $80.

    Pretty good recorder, specially for the precise control forward/backward, and 3s backwards. There are excellent feature to me and I haven't find out any other product with this feature. The best recorder for me and only tiny thing is the UX570 didn't support Bluetooth. Hope UX580 will have it as wish.

    Microphone sound is quite good. Has 2 mics for good stereo sound. Battery time is so-so. Cannot replace battery, at least not without Macgyver. Filesystem+UI is also so-so. This unit is flaky with some sdcards. A lot of "the sdcard must be formatted." even though there is files. exfat or vfat or fat32 filesystems I think are accepted. Just reformat sdcard if need be. You must create a folder on any sdcard called "MUSIC" and put all your music or podcasts in the MUSIC folder. Minor annoyance. I record my thoughts all day, but never listen to them. As your talking to yourself, you will get occasional looks asking if its the latest phone. :) Do not use sound out jack while recording. It creates a feedback loop. I would like to update the firmware but never found any Sony files or instructions to do that. DTC can slow or speed up the playback. Max volume 30 is loud enough you do not need external speakers. No Bluetooth. Works well with headphones. Never tried an external mic. Take the sdcard out and connect to your computer to copy files. Yes You can copy files using the built-in USB connector but that way is real slow. Slow bootup time is another minor annoyance...I acttually prefer this as my Music and Podcast player more than any phone. Sounds just as good and much lighter. 8 out of 10

    Is it suitable for classroom recording? I plan to put it on the table near the teacher, hope thia device could record question and discussion from students in the classroom. It is not big classroom, only max 25 students in the class. Would it work for this usecase?

    • @bigtb1717

      Something like this would probably work about as well as anything in that use case. Students who are farther from the mic will obviously be quieter and may end up difficult to hear. You may have to experiment with placement and recording level to get the best compromise of picking everyone up while not making those closer to the mic too loud.

    Hey great video, I want to ask about the distance range without an external mic, how do you think will it go with my recording in a lecture class with no external mic and how good would it be when I record it on my pocket or just put on the table with me sitting on yhe back or front?

    • @bigtb1717
      @bigtb1717  2 роки тому +1

      If it was sitting on a table and you were sitting at the table, it would likely record just fine. If it was sitting on a desk and you were walking around the front of the room, it probably wouldn't do very well. It would pick up your voice, but it wouldn't sound all that great. It's just the nature of audio and recording it. The further away you are, the lower the "signal strength" of your voice will be and the closer it will be to the ambient sounds. If you turn the gain up (or boost the volume of the recording after the fact) you will be boosting all other noise as well (digital noise in the recording itself, HVAC sounds, people shifting in their seats, reverb from your voice bouncing around the room, etc., etc.).
      In a front shirt pocket, the audio will be loud and clear, but the mics will pick up a lot of noise from any movement in your pocket. Rustling and stuff. You could maybe stuff it into a piece of foam or something that would hold it snug in your pocket to reducing the sounds. If you were going to carry it in your pocket anyway, you'd be far better off getting an external mic to clip to your shirt, rather than using the built-in mics.

      @@jca0178 Not sure if 32GB is max or not, but 32 would hold MANY hours of audio. If I get a chance I'll stick a 64GB card in and see if it recognizes the extra space.

      No, the UX560 is simply the previous, discontinued model. The UX570 replaced the UX560. I've never used the UX560, so I don't know what all changed, or if one or the other technically has anything better or worse about it. But from what I can see, I absolutely wouldn't pay more for the 560. For whatever reason, discontinued models often increase in price from random sellers.

      The battery is built in, so it's not intended to be replaceable. It may be possible to get it apart and replace the battery, but I don't know how feasible it is. I'm sure the intent is either to send it to Sony (assuming that's even an option) or just buy a new one. It's unfortunate how many devices are going this route these days. Mice/Keyboards, audio recorders, phones, headphones, game controllers, etc., etc. Heck, even many laptops make it very difficult to replace the battery.
