Thanks! With a PCM-A10, is it possible to pause a current recording, rewind the recording and record over that same recording (ie override a portion of a pre-existing recording using the same file)? Or do you need to record another take on a new recording and then edit / combine the files using an editing software..? Trying to compare that product with the iPhone voice memo software.
Hi, I was wanting to compare sound quality of the same external shotgun mic (let's say the MKE 600) when inputted into both the A10 and the D10 to use outdoors for nature sounds? Assuming one can integrate such a mic into the A10 with an adaptor ? But for comparison sake, would there be noticeable difference in quality (say both recording at 48 kHZ/24 bit) when using the same mic as noted, e.g., from the perspective of their respective different pre-amps?? Thanks for any feedback
Nice video. Do you know if there is a way to perfectly synch audio recorded with this device to video recorded on a camera if the Sony PCM A10 is not connected to the camera when recording ? Thanks.
No simultaneous recording of the built in mics alongside the two XLR's? And here I was ready to buy this thing. I wanted to use this as a stereo on camera mic/recorder with the ability to plug two more mics at the same time. What's the point of creating a great recorder when you can't even get the basics right? smh. The Zoom H5 costs half as much and has four-track simultaneous recording. I'll buy that.
I need to investigate more but it seems in many ways these are a step back from my PCM D100. Different features of course but as a podcaster I've never seen/heard anything as good as my PCM D100. One step forward . . two steps back . . . I think . . .
@@conspiritsy jumped on a Sony pcm A10 and a Sony pcm d100. The sound that comes from both is amazing. Haven’t used either in an investigation yet. I have that Panasonic rr dr60. I got mine when I was in college back in the day. I use and have caught some EVP’s from it but not as relyabke as my Sony pcm d50.
@@icecorebaby Any reference headphones are preferred. You wouldn’t want noise canceling headphones or anything to add bass to the sound. Sony has held the standard in headphones for reference audio for a long time but Audio-Technica ATH-M series have great reviews. ATH-M40X may be my next purchase.
@@geekazine Talking about the PCM-D10, yes. I can confirm what R. Utrera says; I live in the Netherlands, checked Sony, they didn't know what devices are for sale (mind blown at this point already), pointed me to resellers, and they (Thomann) said the device will not be for sale in Europe. Such a shame. Nothing beats the preamps of Sony, I have the PCM-D100 with me almost all of the time. But I really want XLR!!
@@geekazine the D100 is great but getting old. And it's no longer available in SONY stores. A refresh with the USB-C and bluetooth features of the D10 would be extremely desirable.
Really. A review of of audio equipment when your own audio is just horrible. How about getting some decent audio equipment to make a review on audio equipment
🤣 it crack me every time they yank the equipment out of each one's hand when they wanted to talk about the product!
Glad you are entertained
What do you use audio recorders for? Music? Podcasting? Other? Let me know - let's #geekout together!
I'm trying to grab natural sounds outdoors! Animals
Sir i have a question. Can you tell me please, which model of sony recorder is best for capture college lectures and long distance clear recording?

This was a conference interview. I didn't get a unit to review.

Why both the D10 and A10 are not sold in Europe?

Clap your hands at the start or end of the video and sync them in post.
How is gain with the D10? My zoom H6 doesn’t have enough gain and makes recordings sound like there in a cave.
Don't know. Never got one in to review.

While it would be nice to control all four inputs, I wouldn't say that is a basic need. The H5 is a good choice, too.
Is the preamp noise level of the D10 as good as that of the D100?
Good question. I do not have one to test out. #Thanks for asking!
I listened to a comparison on UA-cam and from what I can hear the old D100 had a bit less noise.
Have you heard of any reports of cellphone/ RF interference with the A10?
Not really, but then again, I don't normally use this recorder.

No. #Thankyou
Which one of these cards would be best?
SD/SDHC/SDXC?
NOTHING...compared to fantastic MINIDISC.

Just got this
can you save it to your phone?
Don't see why not.
Interested in both! I have the pcm D50 and love it! Can these work for paranormal investigations? Catching EVP’s?
Anything is better than the Panasonic RR DR60 that is the trendy one. I’d support these two but the D50/D100/M10 from Sony are the gold standard.

Seven months later, PCM-D10 is not for sale in Europe and there is no way to get information about it. Incredibly Sony Europe knows nothing.
#Sorry to hear. Are you looking to get the PCM-D10? #Thanks for the comment!

SONY is doing nothing to upgrade the PCMD100?
What do you need it to do - or what doesn't it do that it's suppose to?
Just observing that there has been no mention of the PCM-D100. You would think SONY would say something about that one...
