I’m a bit confused. Don’t all bundles of the Air 3 come with a remote? Or this there a different remote you’re mentioning that is better than the remote it comes with? (Never had a drone but looking to get on for real estate photography. Maybe some fun and travel photography/videography as well if it’s worth it over the Mini 3 Pro)
You are on my special select list of reviewers. I could hear my old Air 2S from about 300 meters (obviously knowing what precise sound to search for). What I understand about 04 is that the Air 3 has six (yes that's 6) antennae and the RC version 2 has four. Also, stay strong when your Mini 3 Pro wants to clear the air about your dalliances with other drones.
Most informative and most helpful video I’ve seen on the Air 3 and honestly one of the most informative videos in general. Really appreciate you taking the time to do the various comparisons. 🙏
Best technical review I've seen of the Air 3. Still a tad confused about the sensor debate when it comes to stills photography. would be good to see some more examples of stills from the air3 and air2s in different circumstances
I just began my deep dive into the hobby before my first major purchase (likely a Mavic 3 Classic) and out of the dozens of channels I've scrolled, this is the only guy I've subscribed to 😂
Cracking video, straight to the point, making one mistake though. The 48mp sensor, is a true 48 megapixel sensor. It has 48 million light gathering pixels, the only different is that it doesnt have a Bayer colour array, meaning there is more colour interpolation. In terms of pixels though, its 48mp. This is commonly misunderstood. The reason its this way is most people want 12mp, so in 12mp its a bayer format giving best colour performance, but in 48mp, which only a few want (unfortunately me being one) its in the quad bayer, meaning every colour pixels always has another of the same colour next to it. The reason the 48mp sensor doesnt look at nice as it should it due to the colour interpolation of quad bayer. Which leaves artefacts. Anyway, solid video. Still undecided though as have a Mini 3 Pro... Really want a 1 inch sensor with 30-40mp
Great review! I’ve watched about 10 of these air 3 reviews and I enjoyed yours the most. I lost it when you tried to shake the drone with your side steps 😂
Nice review! I also don’t think that the air 3 camera is actually “bad” or anything. I was unsure about getting the air 3 as a lot of people are complaining about the sensor size but after seeing the side by side comparison I think this is the drone I’m looking for…
You ROCK all the way! BTW, what’s TheCudder all about? AND I’d luv to take your course but, I’ve been a professional photographer coming up through consumer work to commercial work for 30+ years. I don’t think I’d be snoring in your class, just hearing you talk doesn’t put me to sleep. On the contrary I have keep pressing the “Back 5 sec.” button a lot. I guess that’s where QuickAss comes from. I’ll take a look at your course again. Life is constant lessons. Learning new things is being alive. Unless you’re on a tropical beach.
One thing worth to mention is that since the 70 mm lens has an aperture of 2.8 the image is naturally darker. This means that if you slap on an nd 16 during specific lighting the 24 mm can look really good and the 70 mm can look too dark. They should compansate for that with the nd filters so that the 24 mm gets 16 while the 70 mm gets 8.
i think nd filter has different grading for each lens, they are not using same thick glass for the entire filter...hopefully..otherwise it'd be so lame.
Good thing you were only going at 30% power while testing the tracking out, don’t want to pull a hammy on a beach haha. Excellent video. I went from not even considering this drone with less than a 1” sensor to money burning a hole in my pocket. My bank account hates you (even though it’s priced well). My flying and video account thanks you.
Hey bro, because of this video I upgraded to the Air 3 from the Air 2S. After 3 flights im really loving it and so glad I upgraded. Pro's for me: - Flight time (insane, full sunrise with 1 battery) - Controller dam the 1080p feed is so crisp and the range.. mind blowing - All the small better features like the SD cardslot at the back so you don't have to unfold, the gimbal cap.. its really an improved product. - 70mm man... this is something else.. so much new possibilities! only downside.. is the sensor the photo's feel a little bit less quality wise. Do you sell your luts for video?
Thanks to your review, I bought one and I couldn't be happier. I actually bought an Air 2S but I couldn't get it to bind - I sent it back to the eBay seller (I got it for $500 thinking I was being slick), and bought myself an Air 3. Wow. I can't wait to film the Fountain Hills fountain and other water features around our city, maybe Lake Pleasant. Phoenix necessitates you make a special journey to find something to film, lmao. The eBay seller got salty after I told him I didn't want the Air2S back and bought an Air 3 after he proved to me that it wasn't defective, so far as telling me "you will see you've made a mistake because there is no substitute for sensor size, people always think new is better." lmao ok bro! Air 3 smokes the Air 2S and it's not even a comparison, and your video proves it.
Wow! I order the air 3 and I have the mini maverick pro. I watched many videos on the Air 3. This one video explains more than all the other videos I watched. thank you for the information. Yes now I subscribed to your channel. Awesome 👏
I have the Air 2S. I just wish they would update the firmware and provide a nice crop for social media content 9:16. Also- I really need to learn hyperlapse. Looks great!
Wanting to buy my first drone was pretty much sold on the Mini 3 pro, but now after watching this video I’m having second thoughts haha. The only thing I really like more about the mini 3 pro though is the vertical camera because all of my content is on social media.
What do you think about the Air 3 vs the Mavic 3 Classic? Not considering the price because I can get a used Mavic 3 Classic for the same price as a new Air 3. The one thing I'm on the fence about is that the Mavic 3 has an adjustable aperture. I will be using a drone professionally but mostly for Real Estate. Is it a pain in the ass to always swap ND Filters to get the exposure right? Edit: Nevermind I watched another 5 seconds then you answered my question in the vid :D
But was breathless in a couple shots. I mean not sending bad vibes but was kinda hilarious in a drone review to hear "Guys this is only 20% of my full power."
Damn yeah you really did almost lose it on the beach. Def just because of early morning/not warmed up type shi... It's obv you weren't even close to max power, I almost feel bad for the drone yk. Glad you took it easy on em.
The Clark hill sign at 3:51 is super blurry on the Air3 vs the Air2s. I'm pretty sure that's the corner sharpness taking a dump at f/1.7 vs f/2.8 however the overall look from the air3 in the darkness is marginally better
The funny thing is I had just watched another video review of the Air 3, and it was probably 2X as long, but I learned 4X as much from your video. Usually side by sides give a little bit of help, but you did really useful side by side by side. So this wasn't a one drone suits all, regurgitation of DJI marketing gobbledity gook word nausea. I really honestly feel like I have a great sense of the differences, even if I'm now jealous over here with my Mini 2 and Air 2. It's like I'm the stinky neighbor kid who never gets invited to the B-day party but I have to hear the music and fun next door. I think the only thing the other review mentioned that you didn't cover was altitude and temperature. Altitude isn't a big deal since I don't live in Colorado Springs and film on Pikes Peak, but I do fly in Southern California where the temperature today will be 106 F (technically above the Air 3 operating limit).
I’m in Arizona. You cannot even imagine, and yes the drone was super hot when I would land it after daytime flights. I’m sure if I kept it up for 20 minutes in daytime it would be an issue and give me an alert but otherwise it didn’t give me any issues or lack of performance. I’m not keeping anything in this sun for long though, I get a tan going to get the mail
Here's a good idea for a test. Put the air 3 and mini 3 pro up in the air together, in low light, side by side. Put shutter in manual and at the same speed. Put the iso in auto Then take photos in both 12mp and 48mp. Then compare the results. Then, same again in bright light with a building in the background that has lots of white/light widow frames etc and take 12mp and 48mp photos and compare the results... Then we can see how much better it is... I doubt there'll be much.
7:56 amazing video my man. Also your roller skate moves are incredible 😅 really good work and I have ordered instantly since a drone with 2 lenses and with the C1 classification is a HUGE thing in Europe 🤘
Hi! Thanks a lot for a lot :) However.... Look at the 12 Mp and 48Mp images at 100% on your screen, you get a much bigger image with the 48 with possibility to crop in. If you compare the images in the same size on the screen, you won't se a difference.
😮I own the Mavic Air 2S (pro work) and the Mavic Mini 3 Pro (IG/UA-cam). And I fly recklessly on an Air 2k(for fun/photography). Im trying to decide between the Air 3 or the Mavic 3 Classic. I enjoy the characteristics of the Air 2S with its better video image quality, control, and speed. Its just an all around great drone. And I love it. I also enjoy the portability of the Mini 3 pro and the vertical filmming. So I carry that one around mostly and use indoors, plus vertical. Only one battery too. Forces me to practice withthe other two. I'm particular to better image quality but I also like the 2nd camera on the new air 3. Gives more versatility in creativity. I guess the question is... the jump in image quality good enough on the Air 3 from the Air 2S (including on the 2nd camera). *The vertical is cool too! OR is the Classic undeniably better looking and the controlable aperture more pro. I feel like unless I'm shooting a funded film, I can get away with the Air 3 footage for anything, including professional work (real estate, short films, etc). Any insights anyone? Feel free to jump in if you own the Classic or Air 3. I love the Mini size, I love the Air size, but realistically the Mavic 3 isn't really that big either. Please help. I'm most likely gonna sell the Air 2. Keep the Air 2S/Classic for pro work, the mini for IG/UA-cam, and fly the Air 2S reckless and for photography. Hit me.
I would need to see way more on active tracking and obstacle avoidance before purchasing. I’d like to know what speeds it can keep up with, and how well it actually avoids trees etc.
At 3:50 we can see that there also is a big difference in the detail of the illuminated letters. Has anyone seen that as well? Might be due to the aperture? Or the actual digital work behind? I wonder why he didn’t speak about it.
God your videos are a work of genius. No one else like you in any format. It’s like Monty Python’s 6th and youngest child wanted to rebel and become an influencer but still had a lot of subconscious daddy issues and tried to make him proud.
I would buy your Mavic 4 Pro Cinema also! But until then... I just purchased the Air 3. I really wanted the Mini 4 Pro also, but chose the Air 3 for several reasons. If there's extra money some day I'll buy the Mavic 3 Pro Cine as well as the Mini 4 Pro. 😍
Question: Can you livestream with the Air 3 using the RC2 controller? I see there is an RTMP option, but I doubt it works since the controller doesn't have cellular capabilities. My best guess is the RC2 remote just runs a version of DJI Fly to connect to the drone, but there's no way to push that signal to the internet? I've been asked to livestream a cross country meet.
As always: Strait forward professionalism, mixed with the right amount of good sense of humor. Bottom line: Yes, I agree: the air 3 has what it takes to make photographers happy. A line below that: I'll be awaiting the probably soon to be announced Mini 4 Pro, and see what goodies we'll get there. Because the Mini 3 Pro is currently the best travel drone.
That's where I was. Went with the Air 3. A few hundred extra for the obstacle avoidance alone was worth it to me. Plus I'm upgrading from a Mavic Air 1. This is gonna be a huge jump.
Hey how do you make your hyperlapses so smooth and stable whenever I make mine they look a little jiggly like the drone made ones, and I want that light effect that you have
f/2.8 to f/1.7 is 1-1/2 stops. 1/1.3 sensor (75mm^2) to a 1in sensor (115mm^2) is less than a stop. The smaller sensor with larger aperture lens is a net gain of over 1/2 stop.
@@davidro77 for similar QE and read noise, overall noise is related to the area of the sensor, not the size of individual photo sites. You'll have more noise with a smaller sensor for the same amount of light but in this case with the larger aperture lens, you're giving it more light. If you have a higher pixel count, you have to compare images at a similar viewing sizes not 100% as the higher pixel count at a larger size increases apparent noise.
For a semi-professional use is there any diference on the image quality between the air 3 and the mini 4 pro or is exactly the same? Thanks in advance!
Hello your student, the course is wonderful, I was prepared to buy the Mavic 3 Classic when DJI launched the Air 3, in your opinion which one should I buy?
I'm waiting for follow up of corn case. I hope it's not like children of the corn :S Aah, 12PM is deal breaker for me. Will be sticking with Air2s until I decide to cell it for M3 Classic cus I won Freewell All Day Pack filters which is massive cost savings, lol
I've been looking for clarification between the 12MP and 48MP photo resolution listed on DJI's spec sheet. I'm guessing RAW output is limited to 12MP and 48MP is for JPG. Might just need to wait until this drone is in the hands of more reviewers to find out.
I was shot video from my AIR 3 With 120 shutter and 60 FPS But result was wrong...lots of fluctuation found in video there was indoor wedding whats wrong with me pls guide
eff it. I got the air 3! I kept going back and forth between this and the mavic 3 classic. I think the flexibility of it is amazing and just what I need. I wish it had manual f/ stop but what can you do. I like how it can shoot vertical unlike the mavic 3 classic.
Thank you for this content! My main reason for wanting to upgrade from A2s is the 70mm lens. Question: at the 3:55 mark, clearly the DR on the A3 is superior however the Clark Hill sign on the A2s looks sharp and the same sign on the A3 looks mushy. Was this just a focus error on the A3? Thanks again!
It looks like a great new drone from DJI, most of the features of the Mavic 3 series in a small package, and lower price point. Great review, and thanks for sharing.

Awesome video. I was looking forward to your review and you did not disappoint 😂. Good job and I’ll definitely be having this drone in my sights.

Fantastic video as always. Love your delivery combined with good information and level-headed thought process.

Really love the review mate... I think the sound of the Air3 not being so high pitched is actually a slight advantage
the battery hub rules just got this unit to add to my mav 3 pros and mini 3 pro gave away mav2 and air 2s to make room

But until then... I just purchased the Air 3. I really wanted the Mini 4 Pro also, but chose the Air 3 for several reasons. If there's extra money some day I'll buy the Mavic 3 Pro Cine as well as the Mini 4 Pro. 😍
Can you do a low light comparison with the air3 and the mavic 3 pro? I can’t find any videos comparing those two. I can’t decide between the two.
Thanks for this review! by far the best on YT!
Dang I was looking at the mini 3pro but for the price I may get the air 3
That's where I was. Went with the Air 3. A few hundred extra for the obstacle avoidance alone was worth it to me. Plus I'm upgrading from a Mavic Air 1. This is gonna be a huge jump.
Does the Air 3 have cruise control like the Mavic 3? Not just hyperlapse cruise, but just cruise without the hyperlapse?
I'm also curious about this
I’m not sure about regular flying I haven’t needed to check, but cruise control is there for hyperlapse

One of the most low key funniest dudes in the tech youtube space.
The smaller sensor with larger aperture lens is a net gain of over 1/2 stop.
what about image noise from the smaller photosites?
@@davidro77 for similar QE and read noise, overall noise is related to the area of the sensor, not the size of individual photo sites. You'll have more noise with a smaller sensor for the same amount of light but in this case with the larger aperture lens, you're giving it more light.
If you have a higher pixel count, you have to compare images at a similar viewing sizes not 100% as the higher pixel count at a larger size increases apparent noise.
Bro at 8:20 you are definitely wearing yourself out HHHAHAAH
I was shot video from my AIR 3
With 120 shutter and 60 FPS
But result was wrong...lots of fluctuation found in video
there was indoor wedding
whats wrong with me pls guide
eff it. I got the air 3! I kept going back and forth between this and the mavic 3 classic. I think the flexibility of it is amazing and just what I need. I wish it had manual f/ stop but what can you do. I like how it can shoot vertical unlike the mavic 3 classic.
clear and honest ... bravo..
Man u r awesome first time watching u and your funny as hell. Great video and the corn thing 😂 keep it up
In your opinion which would you recommend for business purposes the Air 3 or the Magic 3 Classic? I’m torn between the 2
Great review Alex!
Hey Mathew
Thank you for this content! My main reason for wanting to upgrade from A2s is the 70mm lens. Question: at the 3:55 mark, clearly the DR on the A3 is superior however the Clark Hill sign on the A2s looks sharp and the same sign on the A3 looks mushy. Was this just a focus error on the A3? Thanks again!
I noticed the same thing! I guess we can’t have everything we want 🤣.
do you think you could shake the active track at like 80% power?
sorry if you did mention, I'm still watching but what would you say is the highest ISO that's still useable to you?
This video came out 2 hours after the announcement video
Good work
How many watts can I fill the batteries quickly with the charger, which watts charger should I buy?
It looks like a great new drone from DJI, most of the features of the Mavic 3 series in a small package, and lower price point. Great review, and thanks for sharing.
So, we now throw away the Mavic 3's?
"That's it, go away" LMFAO
Great review, thanks.
as a runner, you are a great video maker
Solid video here!
Can you share video footage from a drone?
What editor do you use for this? Do recommended it? If not what then?
I have a question. With your experience with DJI. Are they going to release a new drone like the next avata on 2024? Also A new O4 goggles maybe?
If i`m coming from Air 2, but for me image quality matters, you say to go for the M3 classic?
