This was a very technical overview of all of the new features, that a lot of the other big channels missed. Thank you. The camera and lidar sensor is very cool. I was actually looking at picking up an air 3 recently (and also looking at getting a part 107), as I used to fly my mavic air 2 back in 2021 and miss it. And then this Air 3S came out of nowhere haha
I'm thinking the same thing. Now it's a matter of selling off a couple of other drones to buy this one. I'm still keeping my Air 2s though. It has been such a reliable workhorse and money maker for me.

The one thing I would like to see compared is the 70mm lens with digital zoom to get close to or match the 7x zoom camera on the Mavic 3 Pro. Optical zoom is always better than a digital zoom, but the 7x zoom camera on the Mavic 3 Pro is lower quality than the 3x zoom camera. For a focal length I don't use that much, I wonder if it would be possible to get away with the Air 3S's 3x camera digitally zoomed into 5x-7x, thus foregoing the need for a Mavic 3 Pro.
Thank you! That's a great question, and I'll definitely head out to test and compare. I’d expect some difference between the digital 7x on the Air 3S and the native optical 7x on the Mavic 3 Pro, but as you mentioned, it’ll be interesting to see just how significant that difference is.

I loved cycling & flying my drone around there too ☺ I just sold my Mini4 Pro on Adverts and ordered the New Air3S. For my main usuage like hiking and cycling on windy days in Ireland, Mini 4 was struggle a bit too much. Looking forward to flying this guy in Donegal Slieve League, where I will carry my Avata 2 FPV too!

The LIDAR is a standalone feature that i will say already making it worth to buy, i've crashed my first DJI Air 2S back in 2021, due to night flying and drone lost signal and crashed into skyscraper, after that i just fear of night flying, where there is no constant signal, or if i'am not sure, the drone might lose signal, and does not have a clear path without obstacles in the air, to get signal back. This Lidar feature fixes that, and it's amazing. DJI has finally made a breakthrough that i've been desperate to see, in every new drone launch video..

I believe the RC two controller supports the Mavic mini 4 Pro and the Air 3 S. If that’s the case, can you purchase an air 3S without the controller and have it use the mini four pro controller? It doesn’t look like DJI let you buy the air three by itself. Is that true?
In my opinion having the 3x tele camera is invaluable as it lets you capture more unique perspectives in your photos. For that reason alone, the 3s is a worthy upgrade.
I’ve been hearing about the Air 3S and just deciding to look into it. I have the Mini 3, Mini 4 Pro, and an Avata 2. Trying to figure out whether this would be a suitable add on to go with my current drones. I’m doing indoor real estate with Avata 2, and Mini-4 Pro outdoor site surveys (roaches, crops, vineyards, etc.)Or, should I just stick with what I have. Hope you can help. Thanks🇺🇸
When compared to the Air3, The only drawbacks I could find with the A3S was a bump down in bitrate from 150 to 130 Mbps. And the batter life on the RC-N3 vs RC-N2 dropped significantly.
I would love to get this drone after I sold my mini 3 last year. But due to so much restriction in the UK. I don't think I would be getting one. It's sad that a few people make it so strict now to own a drone 😢.
Hi, awesome video! Air 2s user here, could you tell us if the telephoto lens is any better than the air 3, i'm so interested in that lens it brings a new perspective to drones like in movies... I'm sure the obstacle avoidance is fine on larger objects, but if somewhere out in front of you is the very small bare tree branch waiting to get you. Its worth an upgrade if it can handle that.
The Mini 4 Pro is still an excellent choice. Both drones have their pros and cons. If you prioritize unrestricted flying and portability, the Mini 4 Pro is the way to go. But if top-notch video quality and better performance in windy conditions are more important, the Air 3s really shines in those areas.

@4:00 super curious if there is a way to know when 'night mode' noise reduction is being applied? or menu setting to decide wether or not you want to use it. for certain workflows previously, night mode was really handy for me, but like having control over when the NR engine is being applied. very curious about how this new ships works in this regard ... anyone with any addl input?
I just bought avata 2 and planning to do a job for indoor house tour. I found its so hard to fly with low light and also the normal mode with fpv rc 3 is way to fast Please make an update for avata 2 for gain and expo for normal or enable beginenr mode for smoother and slower indoor drone control

I have A3 and, this new A3S doesn't shows me a huge improvement for my A3, I recognise the 1" camera, but the lider, doesn't onvince me too much, I do not think it will solve problems during the day, maybe at night, and also will not have effect on wires or small/thin items. My drone will be for days out, weekends away, eurotours annually into countrysides, landscapes, coastal routes. I will also want my drone to follow me on my motorbike through landscapes etc.. just some feedback on what to get and would the mini 4 pro cope with my needs on the motorbike and vehicle.. Hey Peter! The Mini 4 Pro is fantastic-it offers great video quality, solid flight time, and it’s super portable and compact. Plus, it’s very regulation-friendly, being under 250g, so you have more flexibility with where you can fly it. For about 90% of the time, it’s ideal. The Air 3s has two big advantages. First, it’s much more stable in windy conditions, which is something to think about if you're planning to fly it in coastal areas. Second, you get two cameras-the wide angle and the 3x telephoto-which can be super handy for capturing dynamic tracking shots, like following you on your motorbike. In my opinion, the Mini 4 Pro will cover everything you need, and the Air 3s is a great upgrade if your budget allows.
I'm hearing the sensor is actually only 12 megapixels, and that the files are up-sized to 48 mp in software. That would make the drone useless to me, as I shoot professionally in RAW, and edit.
Great test, great drone but I'd rather stick with my Mini 4 Pro ^^.Why? A. because the Air3S is too big and heavy for me B. I wouldn't exactly be traveling in stealth with that C. Too few upgrades compared to the Mini 4 pro and the Air 3
Air 3S is not that much bigger. You could easily carry it in a backpack, get it set up and flying in seconds. Once it is away from the launch point, it won't be much more visible than M4P.
The Air 3S shows a maximum bitrate of 130 Mbps (vs 150 for the Air 3), and some users report 80 Mbps at 4K 60fps and 60-65 Mbps at 4K 30fps. What Mbps did you measure at 4K 60fps? Thanks.
Nobody is comparing it to the 3. Everyone saying it’s better but no side by sides to prove it. Does lidar see power lines? Does it zoom more? Is it actually 50 megapixels or is it binning like the Air 3 did? All your reviews seem like DJI has put you on a leash.
Hahaha. I have asked similar question . Does the LiDAR detect power lines? Does it detect kite lines ? Does it detect twigs? These are a must for future drones and until that, minimal changes .... I have the Air 3 and am absolutely happy with it .
3:54 night mode is no where near as good as I expected. You should be positive and criticize when called for. Spending 2 seconds on night video tells a story though.

To be fair to DJI, they did provide me with a Mic 2, which I’ve been using up until recently. I switched to the Rode Wireless Pro, though, because I think it suits my voice better.

first thing to do, is set rth function at highest altitude allowed /available in case of signal lost, so drone fly over, not into the objects.

its a no brainer. Once we started using 70mm lens, we cant go back not having 70mm lens.

Air 3's camera is much better in low light because of the stacked sensor. Huge upgrade on OA though with the LIDAR

YOUR certification doesn't matter (just need operator/flyer ID). Mass of drone matters, and this can only legally be flown in the countryside.
If you join the BMFA or UkFPV you fly under Article 16. Which gives much reduced restrictions. Its work looking at. @paradoxicalcat7173

I just bought avata 2 and planning to do a job for indoor house tour. I found its so hard to fly with low light and also the normal mode with fpv rc 3 is way to fast
Please make an update for avata 2 for gain and expo for normal or enable beginenr mode for smoother and slower indoor drone control

I have seen a DJI "tag" advertised that can do this with Air 3S.
As always, Great Video!!!! I have A3 and, this new A3S doesn't shows me a huge improvement for my A3, I recognise the 1" camera, but the lider, doesn't onvince me too much, I do not think it will solve problems during the day, maybe at night, and also will not have effect on wires or small/thin items. Let's see. Thank you again.
I pretty much agree. The camera and lidar upgrades are nice, but they don't provide a huge incentive to upgrade from the already excellent Air 3.
Hi Mathew.. just watched this on your air 3s fantastic review, and thank you for it.. can you please tell me is it worth paying the extra money over the mini 4 pro? My drone will be for days out, weekends away, eurotours annually into countrysides, landscapes, coastal routes. I will also want my drone to follow me on my motorbike through landscapes etc.. just some feedback on what to get and would the mini 4 pro cope with my needs on the motorbike and vehicle..

Hey Peter! The Mini 4 Pro is fantastic-it offers great video quality, solid flight time, and it’s super portable and compact. Plus, it’s very regulation-friendly, being under 250g, so you have more flexibility with where you can fly it. For about 90% of the time, it’s ideal.
The Air 3s has two big advantages. First, it’s much more stable in windy conditions, which is something to think about if you're planning to fly it in coastal areas. Second, you get two cameras-the wide angle and the 3x telephoto-which can be super handy for capturing dynamic tracking shots, like following you on your motorbike.
In my opinion, the Mini 4 Pro will cover everything you need, and the Air 3s is a great upgrade if your budget allows.

I'm hearing the sensor is actually only 12 megapixels, and that the files are up-sized to 48 mp in software. That would make the drone useless to me, as I shoot professionally in RAW, and edit.
What is the real resolution of regular camera 12 or 50 mp?

Great test, great drone but I'd rather stick with my Mini 4 Pro ^^.Why?
A. because the Air3S is too big and heavy for me
B. I wouldn't exactly be traveling in stealth with that
C. Too few upgrades compared to the Mini 4 pro and the Air 3
Air 3S is not that much bigger. You could easily carry it in a backpack, get it set up and flying in seconds. Once it is away from the launch point, it won't be much more visible than M4P.
Still waiting on the mini 5 Pro.. 😏
The Air 3S shows a maximum bitrate of 130 Mbps (vs 150 for the Air 3), and some users report 80 Mbps at 4K 60fps and 60-65 Mbps at 4K 30fps. What Mbps did you measure at 4K 60fps? Thanks.

It doesn’t offer enough important features to be a good purchase. The DJI Air 3 is a better choice considering the price, or the Mini 4 Pro.

Nobody is comparing it to the 3. Everyone saying it’s better but no side by sides to prove it. Does lidar see power lines? Does it zoom more? Is it actually 50 megapixels or is it binning like the Air 3 did? All your reviews seem like DJI has put you on a leash.
Hahaha. I have asked similar question . Does the LiDAR detect power lines? Does it detect kite lines ? Does it detect twigs? These are a must for future drones and until that, minimal changes .... I have the Air 3 and am absolutely happy with it .
Saw lowlight in another video wasn’t that good but daytime does look really good to me. I have air 3 , it does seem better

To be fair to DJI, they did provide me with a Mic 2, which I’ve been using up until recently. I switched to the Rode Wireless Pro, though, because I think it suits my voice better.
