    Hola amigos, thanks for stopping by! If you've lived in any of these cities, let us know how your experience was. They've all been on our radar for a minute and we look forward to knocking them all off our travel list. (btw, sorry for the white noise from outside #micproblems). Enjoy the video!

      @@miguellorca2382 There were quite a few reasons and it was their culmination that drove our decision to live here for a bit. It is an awesome place to build from...low cost of living, proximity to US and business opportunities are not hampered here by red tape.

    Querétaro (city) is where a lot of foreign companies situate their Mexican headquarters these days, so that contributes to the cosmopolitan feel.
    Six or seven years ago I was talking with a retired gringo expat dude en la plaza Ajijic, who offered to share his table at that cafe everyone goes to -- so naturally I picked his brain. When I got around to asking about San Miguel, he had two words: "Too cold." It's 1,200 feet higher in altitude (6,234') than Ajijic (5,000'), and the difference mattered to him.
    Next thing you know a twenty-something Mexican dude comes up to him and it's like a family reunion, all hugs and handshakes. The expat dude explained later that when he and his wife settled in Ajijic they were somehow paired-up with a local family, sort of adopted each other. The young guy was one of the sons. Evidently this is not uncommon. Kinda cool.

    First things first - - - I love your youtube channel and always find myself recommending it to friends thinking about traveling to Mexico... My partner and I lived in San Miguel de Allende for three years - - - it was completely unintentional and unplanned - - - but we went for a weekend visit from New York City, fell in love with this little magical town and stayed... While San Miguel is truly a beautiful place - - - it does have some drawbacks - - - the expats (American expats in particular)... Unfortunately the entire city has been turned into a place where the locals have become extremely dependent on wealthy expats who can often times run roughshod over the Mexican folks as well as the local government that bends to their every whim and proposal... However, due to the pandemic and a shift in the economy, a great number of wealthy Mexicans are returning to reclaim some of the power and control of the town. But as you can imagine this is only seen once you have actually lived in a place for a period of time... I plan to return to Mexico in the next three years but I am thinking of perhaps living in Guanajuato City or Merida - - - both of which I see have made your fantastic list... p.s. I spent a great deal of time in Mexico City (Roma and Condessa being my favorite neighborhoods) and I still get a little homesick for the feel and spirit of the Mexican people...

      @@deepakbhana8937 Why do you believe we are spiteful?

    • @deepakbhana8937
      @deepakbhana8937 3 роки тому

      @@TheYarbros Please let me explain myself. To begin "we" refers to both of you and not a reference to your racial identity. You may be able to describe "we" better than I have.
      Overall, the y tube footage of different places within Mexico that have a large American & Canadian expat community was done very well & in a tasteful manner.
      It was pleasing to the mind to see footage that actually showed your brothers & sisters casually walking & soaking up the vibes.
      It must be a challenge to speak well & maintain composure in front of your viewers who can be armchair critics.
      However, I have a few concerns. The video production didn't follow the format according to the one both of you briefly discussed in the beginning.I'm a bit confused?. I'm beginning to question if the tourist places you mention actually exist or not because; how is it possible for a world class winery exist in the desert? Also in this same area. How is it possible that the area & corridors are pristine clean?. I think if you venture outside the tourist or romantic zones that may not be the case. Also, how do the large expat community afford to live in Mexico without subjecting the local population to slave labour practices?
      These are my honest opinions.
      I'm sorry & apologize for saying you as couple are very spiteful. There is a lot of good in what you have covered.

    There are about 10 Mexican cities which are considered World Heritage Sites, Queretaro is one of them (Guadalajara should have been on the list, but unfortunately in the late 40's and early 50's they misunderstood modernity by destroying most of its arquitectural heritage). World Heritage cities and Pueblos Magicos ara la league on their own. National Geographic said it, Ajijic has the second best climate in the world, I read it.

    Another UA-camr questioned the safety in San Miguel de Allende and Queretaro have high levels of radiation in their aquifers.

    • @TheYarbros
      @TheYarbros  2 роки тому

      That's curious. Since no one is ingesting the ground water I don't believe there is danger there. Did they talk about what tests they had performed and why or what the effects were? Just curious...not curious enough to go down that rabbit hole though 😄😄😄

      @@TheYarbros Yes, the National Autonomous University of Mexico issued the high contamination warning in at least 2,500 wells and half of those supplied water for farming and five people had died of related health complications. In addition, stomach cancer cases were being studied for possible links to contamination, and lymphoblastic leukemia in girls younger than 12 years old was reported in the area. They concluded that an over-exploited aquifer that extended over a broader region was the cause. I will try to post the link in a separate response to this thread if UA-cam will let me.

    The number is probably higher than a million of US citizens in Mexico. Those are probably the ones who are registered but I know a lot of people that have been living there for a few years with their tourist visa.

      @@TheYarbros I would think the 180 days goes by so fast. ive wanted to relocate to Mexico for years. Then I found out the required income is double what I get for social security. Have you heard if there's any way around that huge minimum? I also heard at an expat facebook group that its getting more difficult to do the 6 month visa. That's what I was wanting to do. The cost of living is so much more affordable, but the requirement is so high. Most of the expat groups are really spoiled snobs. From what I've seen at the groups, Americans are heading there by the millions.

      @@anniemcannie977 I have heard that they were "cracking down" but I don't know anyone that has been denied the 6 month visa upon re-entry. Also, I would get my paper work and apply. The minimums are different for fixed income.....I believe. 6 months is cake for us because we generally travel internationally every 3 or 4 months but Covid slowed us down....but we are gearing back up so....😉 -Good luck!

      @@anniemcannie977 no problems regarding the questions....Covid hit that business hard and we haven't sought to build it back up. At its height we made $800/ month but honestly we are looking into some other more lucrative dropshipping businesses now. If you are willing to find your market and cater to them you can make some decent coin with a print-on-demand shop.
