Guadalajara has many green parks that you can go and walk in the cool of green trees and shade. Merida was a sauna for us. I highly suggest checking out Oaxaca. It is wonderful city near the Sierra Madre mountains. Temperature is very comfortable and the food is amazing.
Merida looks beautiful and it’s close to the beach we thought about moving to Merida,. but than I heard about the weather it get really hot that’s why we prefer GDL weather by far.
Welcome aboard bro, that is the vibe we were shooting for and we are excited that you are watching and joining in on the conversation. -Merry Christmas
Thanks for sharing your perspective on these two cities! Very helpful. After living in San Cristobal, Chiapas for six months (a city I really love with great people and delicious food), I'm now trying out Merida - have been here 3 weeks. I'm very disappointed in the food here, quite bland in my opinion and I'm not sure I'll be able to handle the heat in the coming months. I've been considering Guadalajara and you have convinced me to head there next! The geography, weather and food there sound perfect for my tastes. Best wishes to you for the new year!
Hey puerto Vallarta it's not so far you can fly the for the weekend, and come back to the city in a very affordable price, also around lake chápala there's a lots of beautiful old towns, and in the sierra del Tigre there's towns like tapalpa, mazamitla, mascota you can rent a cabin you can do off-road horse back riding, hiking and so many other things, one thing you guys should do it's the Cuervo express to the agave fields, Jalisco much more diverse than Mérida by far.
The largest lake in Mexico is in the outskirts of Guadalajara, the paradisiac Chapala, Jocotepec, and surroundings. Amazing place second-to-none. Do some research about it. You'll love it.
Hey, I'm going to speak for my hometown, Guadalajara has close the archeological site of Guachimontones. Tapatios do Vallartazo, which means that if we have a longer holiday weekend we drive about 3 hrs and spend it in Puerto Vallarta, also spend the day in Tequila. The government used to provide free cultural events before Covid19. Also, you forgot the canyon at the north of Guadalajara as part of the landscape. Don't forget that there is a lot of beatiful Pueblos Magicos in Jalisco. Like Tapalpa, Arandas etc. Love your videos!!!
Yeah, there is a lot more to do here in Gdl than Merida. I wanted to be nice and give Merida a chance but really there is not comparison when it comes to #thingstodo

Feliz Navidad mi gente!! I haven't been to Merida yet, but I have visited Guadalajara twice in the past and I it is on my Mexico Top 5 list. As a Caribbean born island boy....your advice was on point....walk in the damn shade...LoL #1LUV
This video is really really really good. I love the vibe section... the food section, the music floating in the background. I love how you you break down the difference in the two states. Your content is really good .
Absolutely adore you guys! I’m torn between the two places for when I retire. Love the sound of the slow pace of Merida but I love cities ( lived in London Kingston (Jamaica) and now New York ). Thinking of part time in Mexico and part time in the Caribbean. So maybe Guadalajara. Will be visiting next year.... in the meantime I’ll be following you two wonderful people!! Bless up!
I lived in NY for over 15 years, and inner city Chicago before that, never got mugged. I've been living in Guadalajara for 2 years got mugged twice. But I have to say its been kind of my fault, walking around late at night after the bar closes alone, (Something i use to do in NY all of the time) not the best idea here. Beware of moto ratones. I even made a song about it! Love your channel by the way.
Happy Holidays and blessings from a new resident of Atlanta by way of New York City... Thanks for sharing another great informative video along with your positive energy🤗🙌🏽
You guys are killing me. I'm stuck in the snow here in Philly. I love the food and vibe in Merida. I used to sit in the bus station just to hear the Mayan lady bus dispatcher announcing the towns. Music!
You guys are refreshing! Well developed information, quality clip production, informative, and fun I travel professionally and Have spend a ton of time in Guadalajara, yet you two introduced my to a few spots!
Love this info guys! I'm over 60 so Merida seems best for me. Summers are up to 110 here in Cali central valley so the weather is no issue. Have a Merry Christmas guys and a GREAT 2021!
Greetings from Sacramento,Ca, I just found your channel and love your content. My parents retired and moved back to Mexico, and now I'm considering it also. Love both your vibes, keep having fun.💯
I like your channel guys. I start watching you bicause you describe thinks clearly and also you speak clearly. I live in CDMX and also i want to impruve my english. You are a nice people. Saludos amigos.
Love you guys all the way from Dearborn Mi. I lived long ago in Guadalajara, my family live in Guadalajara, and I visit Guadalajara often, I love Guadalajara!!
Each city is unique. I like Guadalajara but not the traffic and the big crowds. Merida is beautiful and full of traditions but it's humid, hot and lacks many of the activities that can only be found in bigger cities. Have a Merry, Merry Christmas and a New Year full of blessings.
I'm guessing you are familiar with many of the cities in Mexico. What's Cuernavaca, Morelos like? What's your opinion of this city? A coworker at a job I worked at a few years mentioned being born in Cuernavaca, Morelos and I want to explore this city.
It's so interesting to listen to foreigners talk about our cities and compare them. It's also very interesting for me because I was born in Mexico City and I moved to Guadalajara a year and a half ago, and... it has been a bit of a challenge for me, because although, as you say, Guadalajara is a big metropoli, I miss some of the things a huge metropoli like CDMX offers, such as a big subway network that connects you to the whole place, or even 24/7 life in the streets. These are things I don't see in Guadalajara and I miss haha, but still, it's slowly growing on me :P I like it now.

Hello! Thank you for your point of view on Merida and Guadalajara! I've been to Merida 3 times now and will be moving there with my partner in January 2021 (inspired by you both - THANK YOU YARBROS)! Just a quick note, that sometimes during this video it was hard to hear what you both were saying over the sound effects and the music (specifically when the siren was going off). Otherwise much love to you both and can't wait to see where your journey takes you!
Thanks...there is a story behind that 🤭. We gave a wrong population number and then did a voice-over that didn't sound too good. We were going to go the direction of comedy but thought someone would take offense....we settled on muffled out....you pay attention that was like 1.5 seconds of chaos 👌🏾. Thanks for watching and keeping us on our toes.
Boy you should visit Puerto Vallarta a week, Its our nearest beach, also you can visit "El nevado de Colima" which is a real Volcano in the nearest state, One is active with a fume of smoke and another gets covered in snow in the winter. Hope you get a nice vacations
I want to second all the barranca comments. Great place for a hike! Also, is the Tren Tequilera running during the pandemic? Y’all should go to the town of Tequila, Jalisco not only to get tequila right from the source but to check out the fields of agave and the mountains. It’s worth the trip. I recommend the Tequila museum when you’re there. Thanks for letting us all live vicariously through your videos!
Yes, the train is running and we are going but we don't want to do the Jose Cuervo thing we are looking for something less touristy...but we're going early 2021!
You probably haven't noticed, but you already sound like Mexicans, I love the fact that you find things better on one city and the other says the other city also have this other things that the other don't have...love it!
IDK if the video would get any traction from our audience but Queretaro is a city, city. Very urban with a very diverse population hosting and a large international wotkforce. Merida has grown considerably in it's population and modern amenities but It is still a very tribal...very indigenous place with lots of tributes to it's different tribal culturals...their style of dress, their dishes even their governance. Merida is overflowing with indigenous character, hot weather and modernization. Queretaro is overflowing with mountain weather, an 8nternational crowd and families Thanks for watching.
I live near Merida....regarding the climate: When you get out of the oven that is Merida at certain times of the year and into the countryside with better plant cover and air movement, the heat is far more tolerable :)
@@TheYarbros I have a smallish farm more or less along the Ruta de los Cenotes South of Acanceh, which is pretty much all covered by the local version of jungle (Montes, as opposed to the rainforest variety). Definitely cooler there than in the towns around it. You have done the Cenote tours I'm sure, so you know what that's all about :) My other house is in a small village about 20km away. Lots of breeze and lots of trees to keep things cool there. As far as I have been able to observe....It seems to be quite a bit hotter in and to the North of Merida, so I am thinking the opposite direction is more comfortable. Regardless, Yucatan is a great place to live!
Love your channel! My fambam is from Jalisco! I'm from Oakland, but now living in Washington state. I've been wondering about moving back to the motherland when I retire. I haven't been back since I was 12, that was back in '89. In my 40s now, seriously looking to go back and rehab some of my family's residence in Atenguillo. Holla!
Yes, sir! Thank you and you're right. Merida is The Spot for retirement...if you like the heat and Guadalajara is the spot if you enjoy city life. Enjoy your travels!
We haven't been to any of those places yet so we can't offer any critical feedback other than to say checkout expatistan.com & numbeo.com for their costs of living and take a couple of vacations to check them out 1st hand. Happy hunting!
Merry Christmas! Another great video guys! Always fun and informative. The little bit of singing was great! Stay safe and as always peace and love from Alberta Canada!
I thought that Cartagena was very hot. I remember Panama City being hot and humid. Curious as to whether Merida is like one of those. I hope to begin visiting some spots in Mexico besides Cozumel on a cruise and Cancun when I was in my twenties. Love living vicariously through you guys right now 😎
Guys! A coupe of things for you to try if you ha want already: Food: Santo Coyote (restaurant) and Paseo Chapultepec where the streets are lined up with vendors
Well, Guadalajara may not be as close to the beach as Merida, but I mean, is not that far away either. It´s just a 3 hour drive to get to Mascota or 30 minutes more to Guayabitos (One of my Top 5 favorite beach towns in Mexico). That´s not really close but is not as far as for example here in the US Midwest, where the closest beach to my house is more than 10 hours away by car. Also, Guadalajara is just 45 minutes away from lake Chapala, the biggest in the whole country, full of really nice and charming towns on the shore, and tons of activities to do. So...it kinda compensates it I guess.
Our latest video covers that info here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/PUzU-R0L8cc/v-deo.html Later next month we'll cover the cost of living in GDL for Mérida's cost of living; ua-cam.com/video/mutvdzzQ-Hk/v-deo.html
New to the channel and I love it! Talofa you two (Samoan for hello). I grew up in the islands and can’t wait to live in a big city. I just want a change of scenery so I’m with the Mr on Guadalajara. I’ve always wanted to live in New York but it’s too expensive for me. Tickets to Guadalajara are only $500 round trip!
Happy holiday and thanks for the all the great videos! I'm team GDL all the way! Now, can you live in Mexico City and tell me how it compares to GDL? OUCH! On the over 60 club!
Happy holidays to you too. Mexico City might be too expensive for us lol but if we do go, we'll have to wait for things to cool down there. No offense to the over 60 club; different party vibes, that's all.
Have you two been to Cuba which feels like a thousand degrees & locals shielded themselves with white umbrellas. Rondell "Come on down here Guadalajara where you can climb a mountain" you say??👀 Guy I recall your condition after hiking a hill to the first perfect apartment while house hunting in Guadalajara.😂 It seems a good look to maintain homes in both.🏡🏘
Yes, we've been to Cuba and it still didn't compare to the constant oven temps of Merida. A trail into the Sierra Mountains is just down the street from our home now.
Epic showdown! My family has lived in Guadalajara for their entire life And my sister recently moved to Mérida 2 years ago So this video is overly interesting to me haha, I have a feeling Guadalajara might come to be the winner, but both cities offer many different good things

I liked this a lot I'm just learning and looking into visiting different places in Mexico. Any possibility in a Queretaro vs Merida?
That sounds like a smart thing to do. What are some good places to go?
@@thomastroub4563 yes it is! Thank you!
I loved your intro... Merry christmas...🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🪅🪅🪅🎄🎄🎄💖💖
Bro, Guadalajara has the best weather in all Mexico.
All ik is we love it!
Holla!
Saludos amigo...thank you for watching and you should have a homecoming after!
Atenguillo Rules!!! 🤘
my grandfather was from there!
Guadalajara's the land of mariachi and tequila + Puerto Vallarta will be a 3 hour drive soon (highway under construction)
It’s the major mall and popping major tags for me. Bye bye boring Mérida... not yet ready to retire 🥴 Excellent video guys !!
Yes, sir! Thank you and you're right. Merida is The Spot for retirement...if you like the heat and Guadalajara is the spot if you enjoy city life. Enjoy your travels!
We need cooler weather....thinking Queretaro, Puebla, or San Cristobal de las cases....for retirement. Thoughts ?
We haven't been to any of those places yet so we can't offer any critical feedback other than to say checkout expatistan.com & numbeo.com for their costs of living and take a couple of vacations to check them out 1st hand. Happy hunting!
Merry Christmas amigos, God bless You.....
Same to you! Happy holidays!
Merry Christmas! Another great video guys! Always fun and informative. The little bit of singing was great! Stay safe and as always peace and love from Alberta Canada!
Instantly SUBBED , love your energy wow. Gotta pick to move either Merida or Guadalajara 😭
Welcome to our channel and thanks for the sub!
Y’all’s videos are 🔥🔥🔥 so informative!! Thank you
Thank you!!!
I thought that Cartagena was very hot. I remember Panama City being hot and humid. Curious as to whether Merida is like one of those. I hope to begin visiting some spots in Mexico besides Cozumel on a cruise and Cancun when I was in my twenties. Love living vicariously through you guys right now 😎
It was on par with Cartagena in May and much more humid than Panama.
Guys! A coupe of things for you to try if you ha want already: Food:
Santo Coyote (restaurant) and Paseo Chapultepec where the streets are lined up with vendors
Thanks for the recommendations!
Merida looks so beyond beautiful and can't wait to visit one day, but for living, NO. Cant handle humidity. Just no, lol.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU BOTH...OVER HERE IN KISSIMMEE FLORIDA USA.
Merry Christmas!!! Bless-up -and have a happy new year!
Every place has its give and take. We look forward to checking our the beaches near GDL.
Can you guys talk about how you are making money or what your living on a month?
Our latest video covers that info here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/PUzU-R0L8cc/v-deo.html
Later next month we'll cover the cost of living in GDL for Mérida's cost of living; ua-cam.com/video/mutvdzzQ-Hk/v-deo.html
Merry Christmas. Okay watched all your videos and got on a plane. Looking for the spots you shared. I hope everything is not closed for Christmas day
Good luck but the city has entered into another Covid-19 restriction phase. Good luck hunting. This has the etchings of an adventure for you!
@@TheYarbros Thanks for the heads up. Enjoy this beautiful day
Merry Christmas guys stay safe as always.Hey does Mexico celebrate 3 Kings?
Yes they do...
Would you guys ever visit Oaxaca? I'm intrigued about that city
We're very interested in visiting...hopefully we'll make it out there. Our list has gotten pretty long...2021 should be fun! 🤞🏾
Merida for the win until July. Then it's hotter than hell.
Good point. In July, seek shelter and AC immediately.
Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas!
Wondrful ! Loved the format. It would be nice to have the Guadalajara vs Medellin.
🤫😉
Wow really interesting video. Keep up the good work
Fourth do not forget Canada
Happy Holidays * Feliz Navidad * Happy Kwanzaa!!! How far apart is Merida from Guadalajara???
We don't know...🤷🏾♂️
Bienvenidos a Guadalajara.
Gracias!
My family has lived in Guadalajara for their entire life
And my sister recently moved to Mérida 2 years ago
So this video is overly interesting to me haha, I have a feeling Guadalajara might come to be the winner, but both cities offer many different good things
Awesome video guys
Thank you!
