Started “watching” your videos last summer as my sight was diminishing from some very bad cataracts. Your voices were very soothing thru that very depressing time. Thankfully surgery was very successful on both eyes and now I’m able to see your cheerful faces as well. Thank you for what you do. A faithful subscriber in western Colorado USA. 🙏
Hi Wendy. I currently have cataracts and am dealing with the same thing. I was born with them and I'm 23. It's unsafe to drive at this point. I hope the surgery changes my life 🥰
I’m sure you hear this all the time, but as I’ve only been subscribed a short time, I wanted to tell you how I adore the two of you. You’re the cutest couple and always brighten my day. Thank you and keep up the good work.
Satoshi's English is SO GOOD. You smart cookie you, it really is a superpower to be able to communicate thoughts, emotions and ideas in ENTIRELY different languages. Wonderful.
I remember visiting my elderly aunt in Kyoto. She said I had to take her to the supermarket late in the afternoon because that's when all the lunchtime sushi sets were marked half-price off. The supermarket would *time "fresh" stamp* all the sushi sets so you knew when it was prepared. My elderly aunt said that supermarkets that *time "fresh" stamp* their sushi sets have the best quality and to be very careful of stores that don't *time "fresh" stamp* their sushi.
That's exactly what I would do when i visited my family in aomori a long time ago. I realised the sushi in supermarkets get discounted by almost half towards the end so i would then splurge!! :)
Somehow I lost track of u guys U used to come up in my suggested feeds all the time but for some reason it stopped then today out of the blue there U were. Nice to see u again
Same thing happens with me: people just stop coming up in my recommended feeds and then one day there they are again and I remember, going 'oh yeah! I love this channel, I'd forgotten!'
When my grandmother would make sushi she would put me (1-2 yrs old) on the kitchen table with it. I would have two fistfuls of sushi that I would be eating. Lol That was me helping her. I once OD'd on "stinky" daikon pickle. Sick for days after. 😂 I ate an entire jar of them when I wasn't being watched.
During my solo trip to Tokyo last time, I went to a supermarket inside the Nakano Broadway. Stumbled upon a shop that selling sushi and I got a good bargain on discounted sushi! Everything is so cheap and still fresh! I was in heaven but too bad I only can choose 1 set... So sad....
Thank you for all your videos and live-streams...very informative! Keep them coming, because I enjoy watching all of them, over and over again. Take care.
Koyadofu! OMGEEE! When I was a child, I called them little “pillows.” Talk about old school! Wow!! My okasama always always put them into futomaki that she made for us. Great sets of sushi for such a low price! I love makizushi and inari combo’s, hubby loves nigiri sets, Josh loves chirashi. I also like spicy tuna rolls. I still have yet to try tuna/mayo sushi or onigiri though.... Thank you boys, for sharing. The love and respect that you have for each other, was evident, in each of you giving up your favorites to the other. 🥰♥️🥰 My heart is full!
I like the way you guys assess the food you review. It is detailed and honest. Japan generally has great food and there are lots of very good options at convenience stores and supermarkets but not everything is good. Your videos bring that out in a very enjoyable way. Keep up the good work.
Your most expensive set was cheaper than the supermarket set I bought this morning. Discovered your videos today and have been binge watching since the afternoon.
When I think Sushi, I think Nigiri. I get my Nigiri fresh made to order at the supermarket. BUT in America people only eat imitation crab sushi and that's why I have to ask for nigiri. I can tell that the sushi chef loves it when I ask for Nigiri.
I'm not trying to sound rude, but where do you live in the US? While some American's often associate Sushi as "raw fish" , I noticed most sushi lovers in general are not afraid to branch out outside of the California roll. Maybe that's just where I live though. Also, imitation crab is a gift from the gods.
It’s crazy to me how similar certain words in different cultures are! Like when they were explaining the salad roll Satoshi said “sarada” which is very close to how we say it Arabic, “salata”! I really hope I can visit Japan some day in my life and get to experience these wonderful foods you showcase for us on your channel! Love you guys, keep up the great content 🙌🏻
This vid reminded me of when I visited Japan, thank you and stay safe, Shinichi-san, Satoshi-san, you two are adorable. God bless your beautiful souls!
There's a supermarket in my town that has a vendor inside that makes authentic sushi (owner is japanese and she uses sushi grade fish) and she's a family friend of ours. She always makes me an Inari whenever we come by and get sushi for lunch. :) It's been a while since I've seen her with everything going on but this video made me think of her.
I only eat nigiri now. I love the taste of fish and the ocean not being interrupted by anything. Sashimi if possible but I usually get that at the sushi restaurant.
By the way.... My wife and I live off supermarket sushi and sashimi all the time ...We go shopping late in the afternoon so we can even take advantage of the marked down prepared food items.....still. Pretty tasty upon reheating!
Everything looked good. I cannot get over how inexpensive the supermarket sushi is compared to where I live, South Bend,Indiana, USA. I enjoyed your video so much. Thanks!
They actually have four channels, TabiEats, TabiEats Recipes, Shinichi's World and I Will Always Travel For Food which is a no talking ASMR style channel :)
Cheap sushi from a Japanese supermarket is probably better than any sushi from a mainland US supermarket.😀 Being vegetarian, I don't have to worry about the freshness and quality of fish in my sushi, so I have an easier time of getting supermarket sushi that's pretty good. Honestly, I usually make it myself in the way I was taught as a kid in Hawaii. 👍🏼
So near me is a place called Wegmans, it's a grocery store with a vendor style set up. And there is an entire sushi "bar" that has AMAZING sushi. And real sushi chef's. It's been my go to during quarantine since most restaurants in my are have been closed for 3 months 😋
I’m lucky enough to live in an area of the US where we have Wegman’s grocery stores and in our Wegman’s we have the fresh market and cafes...they have a sushi ya with fresh sushi made from 7am-7pm and it is delicious!!!! If you go after 7pm they fill the little refrigerators with the sushi and sashimi sets and you can get it discounted. I typically grab a maki set...two types of rolls 12 pcs & a nigiri set two types & 8pcs for about $13USD. A really good mixed fish sashimi set is about $10USD I 💗 Wegman’s sushi ya
Inarizushi is the bomb. I'd be perfectly happy with just the simple one you had there... but having other stuff in there (sweet green seaweed, agar-agar, sesame seed, shreds of nori!) makes it even better. :) Just about everything here looked phenomenally good for supermarket sushi -- I happen to love surimi, so the imitation crab would also be quite nice for me. I love tobiko nigirizushi... especially the beautiful, emerald-green wasabi tobiko, which can most definitely launch one's sinuses to the moon. From what I understand, tamago is usually the dessert in a nigirizushi course. It certainly is sweet enough!
Wow how cheap to buy those sushi sets! My mom use to make oshizushi when I was younger & I use to help make it. I was the one who had to take over when my grandma hit yo old yo make the sushi for Shogatsu! I do love sushi of any kind! 😋😋😋💟🍣🍣🍣💜
Wow, this comment was left at 5am! I wonder what you do for a living to be bright eyed and bushy-tailed at 5am? There are so many professions...or maybe you're a new mother, nursing an infant? Or you're in hospital? Or...I'm suddenly so fascinated! HHaa! :D
These looked quite good...especially for supermarket sushi. The prices are amazing considering I would pay $15.00 for the sushi you got for around $4.00. Thanks for the video...you guys always brighten my day. Take care... from Ontario, Canada
Since we don't have a lot of options for sushi in my area, the closest one being in Middletown and I don't think that they are open, the best ones that I have found are at Hannaford supermarket so far. Your first sushi dish caught my attention big time
Often I buy a pack of sashimi together with supermarket sushi, because the fish are always very thinly sliced in cheap supermarket sushi. It's like only eating rice.
Thank you for pointing out to use soy sauce in small amounts with nigiri, this is a common argument with one of my friends. Now I can say tabieats supports my side. Lol.
This is what I heard as well. I was told: Think of it as a prime cut of steak. You would never drench such a delicious piece of meat in steak sauce. It absolutely overpowers and destroys the taste if the product itself...
I would love to experience authentic sushi in japan, sushi in restaurants here in Australia is ok but I can only imagine how wonderful it is there. Everything looks so good 😍😋

I’m glad your surgery was successful!
These two help me with my anxiety too, and they cheer me up. I love them! ☺️
Cheers, Wendy!
What a hopefull story @Wendy Lissolo. I'm happy for you that surgery succeded!
Amazing!
Hi Wendy. I currently have cataracts and am dealing with the same thing. I was born with them and I'm 23. It's unsafe to drive at this point. I hope the surgery changes my life 🥰
Cheap sushi in japan tastes good, but cheap sushi in America tastes really bad. This is why I love japan, food quality is always very nice 😋
Plus one doesn't need to take a few days off work!
don't buy sushi at trader joes. Also sushi is "luxury" food in America, so it's almost always pricier.
Cheap Sushi in America will kill you lol
@@meghannevans2411 not always. I've gotten cheap supermarket sushi before that was pretty good. Not the best obviously, but decent.
Hi Vannie, what exactly would you say the noticeable difference in taste is? Thank You
I’m sure you hear this all the time, but as I’ve only been subscribed a short time, I wanted to tell you how I adore the two of you. You’re the cutest couple and always brighten my day. Thank you and keep up the good work.

I love this comment, sweet AND helpful, the perfect combination.
Love TabiEats. Both of you are fabulous. Thank you for sharing. Please stay safe.
I love this channel, I'd forgotten!'
these plants on the balcony are so beautiful there, I especially like your cooking videos because it is inspiring on how to think about ingredients
I love this comment!
Letting someone have the thing you also liked and wanted, that's real love!
So sad....
I love the cheap and good stuff in Japanese supermarkets - amazing how little these boxes cost!
Thank you for all your videos and live-streams...very informative! Keep them coming, because I enjoy watching all of them, over and over again. Take care.
Love you both! I’m so glad you both are still doing videos even though we are all stuck inside.
I always love seeing the things you share with this of us unable to visit in person.

@Mindy's Mom Hi sister! Just waving hello to you! The supermarket sushi looks so yummy, doesn't it? :-) Hugs.
Erin Uber ....Hi my sister! Yes! It’s amazing how inexpensive the sushi is. Take care my sister! Sending you lots of love!
Just found you guys and I am so calmed by your good natured banter.
I like the way you guys assess the food you review. It is detailed and honest.
Japan generally has great food and there are lots of very good options at convenience stores and supermarkets but not everything is good. Your videos bring that out in a very enjoyable way. Keep up the good work.
Satoshi's use of chopsticks values Japanese tradition and is beautiful‼️😌
Your most expensive set was cheaper than the supermarket set I bought this morning. Discovered your videos today and have been binge watching since the afternoon.
Japanese food always looks so well composed you really eat it with your eyes too
When I think Sushi, I think Nigiri. I get my Nigiri fresh made to order at the supermarket. BUT in America people only eat imitation crab sushi and that's why I have to ask for nigiri. I can tell that the sushi chef loves it when I ask for Nigiri.

StateOfMortality sarada in Japanese is an English loan word. It’s how they pronounce salad.
This vid reminded me of when I visited Japan, thank you and stay safe, Shinichi-san, Satoshi-san, you two are adorable. God bless your beautiful souls!
Great to see you having fun and eating good food 😊 Again Happy Birthday SATOSHI!!

Remember visting Aeon when I was in Sapporo, Hokkaido. Cheap supermarket! great place to stock up on snacks to bring back home
Aw bless Satoshi, you can see that he doesn't want to say anything bad or critical, much love xx
You two brighten my day! Much love from Tennessee!
I was in a terrible mood, but I felt better when I saw your smiling faces and got to remember the deliciousness of sushi
Thank you for the video as it will assist me with store food to snak on in my room when I visit Japan

Tobiko is my all time favorite!!! I love it soooo much!!! 💕 Salmon is my second favorite 😊
Never get sick of these reviews that was cheap but good guys!! 👍
oh my goodness i can't stop watching your videos, love your video ❤
I loved sushi so much, i usually bought sushi for take away at Aeon/Jusco Supermarket. And Sushi King for dine-in in Malaysia 😍🍣❤️
nice to see you both well.
I used to eat cheap Life sushi when I lived in Shibuya, and I LOVED it ♥️
Hi guy's good to see you yummie sushi 🍣 thanks for sharing
Satoshi - omg I love kampyo so much too! I'm in deep North Dakota so I just put in an online order because of you! Thank you! Love you guys!
I would happily overdose on sushi.
Another great video, love you guys. Thank you.
Aww you guys are so sweet!! Happy belated birthday! The sushi looks yummy :)
perfect for me....luv japanese in expensive sushi...yum yum
Tobiko has to be my favorite fish roe, with ikura coming in at a close second. I love mixing tobiko directly into a bowl of freshly cooked rice.
You two are a trip! Enjoyed this very much 😊
My go to cheap meal when visiting japan! It’s so good!
Supermarket sushi and other bentos was a lifesaver for me! I get to save my food allowance by half and spent the othe half on omiyages 💖💖💖
Cheap sushi from a Japanese supermarket is probably better than any sushi from a mainland US supermarket.😀 Being vegetarian, I don't have to worry about the freshness and quality of fish in my sushi, so I have an easier time of getting supermarket sushi that's pretty good. I love sushi and this video made me hungry just watching it.
Loved the dog in the back with the black glasses on. Lol
Hello from Canada guys! Love your channel!! 😎 👍
Another amazing video! Very entertaining! You both are so happy and that makes me happy. 🌈❤😛
I haven't watched for a while, Satoshi's beard looks fantastic!
I love these two.
That sushi looks spectacular. Thanks for sharing this. Cheers!
i so wish we had something like this here in the states. you two look like you had so much fun doing that. i hope youre doing well. stay safe.
I miss Japan so much. Will definitely visit again once flying is safe again xx

@J.R. Caldoon I'm with you! I love inarizushi, too. Just waving hello to you, and wishing you a good day. :-)
It's good to see a vegetarian sushi box! I struggled a little being vegetarian in Japan when I went last year. ❤️
Thank you for the review. You know a lot of great descriptive words in English.
This was awesome, love you guys!
Wow how cheap to buy those sushi sets! My mom use to make oshizushi when I was younger & I use to help make it. I was the one who had to take over when my grandma hit yo old yo make the sushi for Shogatsu! I do love sushi of any kind! 😋😋😋💟🍣🍣🍣💜
I usually buy sushi in the supermarket at night, so i can get some % off.
I love your vlogs so informative and fun
Keep it up guys
Love you guys. Always good content.
Always love your content, and makes me hungry 🤤. 💖 from Boston. Stay safe and healthy!
LOL Shinichi the amount of soy wasabi you put on that cucumber maki, "i'd suggest you put a little bit" proceeds to put quite a bit. I love it though!
Making me long for a trip to Japan. Your food reviews make things look sooo good. 😋❤️😋❤️
I just found this channel...I'm in love w the guy with the hat and glasses...and stripe hoody...I just love him...
It's 5:00AM here in the Philippines, and this video makes me crave for some sushiiiiiiii ~~ 😩🥺❤️ Btw, Ohayou, Shinichi and Satoshi ☀️🤗

We are fortunate to have good sushi in Canada. I get it in Alberta. I love Japanese food very much.
Thanks for the video, I'm getting 🍣 right now
Bought one of your Tabieats sweatshirts. Love it!
thanks for your content. I really enjoy watching. I need a guide when I come to Japan. I would love to have a meal with you

ooh, so do you layer more fish on top of the nigiri??

You knew it was gonna be a good day when your parents returned home from a grocery trip with a box of sushi.
Enjoy watching you both ❤
Still looks pretty cool. As a sushi chef i wish to go to japan at one point to try all the sushi and see how everything is!!
I love watching your videos. I love sushi
I use to love getting bentos in Hawaii.Your prices are much better 😊
You two are awesome. I love the way you interact and the way you can appreciate food. It makes me wish to cook for you! If you ever visit southern Germany, you are welcome come visit and stay with us. :3
inari sushi is my fave, it's so simple and difficult to make wrong.
Do you guys have any videos (or another channel ?) that shows how to prepare different types of sushi roles ? I already bought the bamboo mat and seaweed, but i'm not sure about the next steps. Thanks for any hints and tips.
"Good ahead, take what you want." You two are the greatest.
Hi guy's love sushi enjoy it be safe
You two are just so cute! I love watching your videos! ♡♡♡
Hey guys .....Just say in the beginning that living on a budget ....one can eat all kinds of sashimi and sushi served here in any market and convenience store of slightly lower quality but still better than Hawaii where I resided until moving here in November of last year...Most of your fellow You Tubers would still feel that these supermarket items would tastes really good coming to Japan from the U.S.
In the United States in the area I live, the large newer style Kroger stores have sushi counters. It’s always delicious but pricey compared to yours. I prefer to go out for sushi but it’s very expensive here. I would say it’s sort of a luxury food here.
When I first moved to Japan, I was eating super market sushi everyday. The quality is better than many restaurants in NY
Oh and don’t forget the discount after 8pm usually
My favorite breakfast while in Tokyo is sukeroku sushi from Family Mart and an iced Boss Coffee.
I always find the little differences so interesting. In England the supermarket sushi i have tried never has squid or perch but replaced it with duck and my personal favourite mackerel. Maybe its a cultural taste thing or just whatever is easier to get in the Atlantic compared to the Pacific?
