Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 чер 2024
- Breathing is one of the most important things in boxing. If you do not breathe properly, your punches will be weaker, you will move slowly and you will get tired fast. In this video, I will share breathing techniques for different scenarios such as when you are hitting the heavy bag, before a fight, and during a fight or sparring match.

Mate, about Strength and Conditioning Training for Fighter. What kind of Exercise for Strength and Conditioning Training for Fighter? Because I train like a bodybuilder by doing Strength Training
You have any tips with self thought boxers?
How to box despite having a disability.
Dude, this is freaky. I just finished a heavy bag session and almost passed out from not breathing correctly.

Duh!
You can pass out by walking alone if you don't breathe correctly...
Can these breathing techniques be used for running miles too? Because when I run I feel gassed after running 1.5 miles non stop and I feel tons of pain in my ribcage
@@importunatespeed52 Sure!
Just make sure you try them BEFORE and AFTER, not DURING...
Imma😢😢😢😢😢
I just started boxing at 40, and I am so glad I found this channel. I'm learning so fast because of Tony's tips.
This gym looks familiar ! I painted the artwork in there for my good friend. Great to see you back in Perth mate 👊
BOQ - Bank of Queensland?
Wish you had more videos on head movement
hes not that type of boxer
This video came in at just the right time. I get tired pretty easily, granted I’m currently 300 Ibs so I’m pretty fat, working on it, but this is something I needed to learn for my sparring sessions. Thanks for posting this brother!
I find by performing the Wim Hof breathing technique for 5 minutes before sparring or hitting the bag increases my performance hugely. It’s been a game changer.
5 minutes?!!
Before or after warming and stretching?
I can't imagine sitting still for 5 minutes just before starting my boxing routine (I can last 8 rounds on a good day), would get totally psyched out.
@@el_killorcure before warm up would be good way to get those lungs working
@@yo.local.halal.cat364 OK, how do you actually practice the Hoff method?
I have read people modify it all the time...
@@el_killorcure it's not as complicated as people make it seem like all u gotta do is sit down take a deep breath in while making sure your relaxed and not breathing too fast do it nice and slow and make sure your Belly moves just as your lungs while breathing now hold it for a sec and breath out, u can also try Navy box breathing style it's quite effective aswell
@@yo.local.halal.cat364 Well that's DETAIL!
Thanks!
One question: belly moving with chest, meaning "the belly should protrude on the inhalation and flatten on the exhalation"?
I think I already do that to a point on my own while getting psyched listening to rock music during stretching before the warmup (except holding my breath after exhaling, that's TOUGH!)...
I started self training a few months ago and your videos have helped me improve drastically. Not a single other channel has given information as useful as the information you give. Thanks a million Tony🙏🏼
I hope to become as skilled of a fighter as you one day,
I actually wanted to look up a video to see if I was breathing right, and luckily you posted just in time.
I barely just started boxing to help with cardio but I’m hoping to get better!
Hi, i love your great informative channel, my coach used to say to me breath also when you slip, duck and roll , not just when you punch ( for some reason i was holding my breath whilst doing them !)
I really needed this six months ago. It took me a year to really be able to breathe by habit while boxing
This applies to soooo many sports and yet it’s rarely ever mentioned, just taken for granted that everyone knows how to breathe properly. Well I didn’t! Becoming more focused on doing this correctly is definitely improving my performance in a whole load of sports, including boxing! Cheers Tony, great stuff as always!

Excellent advice so important Tony
Great tip! #4 is why I always lose breath after a round or two, even though I can run many kilometers the other day.
Thanks mate
My coach definitely talks about #1 and #2!
I love your content, could you please do a video were you show the best boxing gloves for beginners?!
Outstanding information,thank you Mr Jeffries
Glad it was helpful!
Thnku so much Tony I was doing these mistakes and now you've again helped me huge respect to u ❤
Happy to help!
This is similar to what special forces operators use en route to certain training evolutions, missions...whenever they need to be at their mental and physical best. One of the names used for it is "Combat Tactical Breathing" of which is designed to calm down the part of the brain where our fight, flight, or freeze response comes from -- the amygdala.
Without mastering these techniques, just like Tony said, you're adrenaline and cortisol will take over, exhaust you, slow you down, make you feel like your body is cast in concrete, you'll become sloppy, weak, won't be able to think clearly or be present in the moment like you need to...and it'll just snowball from there.
Thank you for covering this important topic.
Just posted need this, life saver 💪🏼thanks
Glad it helped! Please do share as well mate 🙏🏻
Awesome video mate
Thanks mate
Another great video full of amazing tips 👌
Thanks so much!
Love ur videos man they have really helped me a lot throughout the years. But do u know anything about punching paper drill. Idk, it’s something I heard about but never really understood it
Great post!! I use a slightly different system for my boxers. In between rounds I have them first to exhale 3-4 times just to get rid of the carbon dioxide that have been built up during the round. (they do that usually when the walking back to the corner) . After that they breathe in with the nose and out with the mouth. Deep breath. First you fill the stomach and then your chest. One imortant thing is not to raise your shoulders when doing this. Then your breath usually get stuck in the chest. After maybe 20-30 sekonds they start to breath with just the nose. Before that have reched this stage they get no instructions, their foucus is to be able to calm down the breath, breathing just breath with the nose. Im not saying this is the correct way, but its working good for us.
Very nice video ❤❤❤❤❤
I honestly should send you 50$ a month for all the boxing info. Your channel coupled with my boxing gym = value for money! Thanks Tony!
MAN I LOVE SOO MUCH 😍
Yes another video to study and be very usefull in practicing heavybag training. Breathing better actually can make you train much longer and when doing this right the punchingpower left by the end of your trainingsession will amaze you. No joke!👍🏻
Offtopic: Tony did you hear about the strong rumours about Jake Paul not wanting to fight Mike Tyson anymore?
Since you know many people in the boxingworld your answer matters more to me then a rumour.
Thank u sir ......lots of love from India ❤
How are you there mate?
Good video! Thanks for sharing mate 🥊
Will you be doing any videos in the future about how to get used to wearing a mouth guard?
Yes mate, I got a vid about that.. please do check my channel 🥊
That is some brutal hair at the 4:20 mark. I had a flattop mullet about the same time period lol.
Ish! Ish! Ish! 🥊🥊🥊
Tony can i call you my coach ? i hope you wouldn't mind it you always come up with videos i am needed about 💪🏻
I noticed if you inhale instead of exhale as u strike the bag you gain more power in your strikes
Hi Coach Tony - Do you like James Toney? Could you do a reaction video to him or film study?
I always struggle with my breathing. Mainly keeping it under control. Hopefully these tips will help.
look into oxygen advantage podcasts
Next level stuff is directly controlling your own heart beat to optimize blood flow.
Tony, When are we supposed to take the NAD+ before each training ? And how many hours before?
👍👍👍👍👍
Does this actually help you be calm under pressure.
Yes. 100%. Controlling your breathing will help calm the nervous system that controls the body's involuntary functions.
Yes mate, keeps you relax
I wish i will in your country to join your academy sir to be a better Boxer ❤❤
So flexed muscles increase caloric usage too
So the info I was looking for is in another video? I diddn't get what happn...
I found that, for me, breathing through the nose, really changed everything.
you might want to have a look at the research from buteyko and patrick mcowen (sp?)
Exhale on every punch, even through combinations?
That's insane.
It forces you to inhale between every single punch, good luck not hyperventilating nor inhaling through your mouth.
I find it much easier and practical to exhale and inhale in steps: exhale in 4 punches, inhale in EITHER the next 4 punches or the pause if you have one.
I can go for 9 rounds tops and do 10 prison burpees in between rounds, someone might say I'm doing something right.
But I sure ain't Olympic finalist, so there must be something I'm not getting here right.
Maybe Tony means SHORT exhales (taking you say 4 punches to fully exhale and thus start inhaling)?
That would make much more sense
I want to ask you coach i watched your videos and you said that in the technique of throwing uppercut and hook and cross you have to move your feet while throwing a punch but when i see your fights in olmpyics you didn't move your feet while throwing punches i hope you answer my question
I make mistakes as well mate 😅
But i see that thing in most of the professinal boxers like you&mike tyson&muhammed ali i didn't get it coach But thank you for respond coach i learned a lot from you you are the best educator keep going
After you've trained for a few years you get to experience a fewstrange grunts 😂
Do you believe in rotating the jab till the thumb is slightly down or rotating until the palm is flat?
That's a very good question!
I’m about to have unlimited stamina now ahahah 😎
My knuckles have been hurting for the past month every time I’m on the heavy bag.
Not sure what’s causing it
It means you have girls hands😂😂😂😂😂😂
NMN? The rapper?
Dude made a whole video about breathing
It was necesary
I was taught in karate to always shout, or "kiai", every time I throw a punch. When I shout while hitting the heavy bag, people look at me like I'm crazy... but that's okay, because of course I'm crazy, I'm a boxer!
Do not eat corpses.
Destroy the TV.
gugugaga
champ what the fuck is going on in your instagram comment sections😭
Please stop introduce yourself in every videos we tierd of hearing that you are olampic champion please
Lol, this man is giving his background as an athlete to show you he knows what he's talking about. Chill homie 😅
My guy
That's how we know we can trust him
Hey Tony! I want to learn Boxing but there aren't any boxing gyms near me. Do you think it's possible to learn the basic footwork and technique while practicing at home? Maybe like 1 hour everyday.
I'm unsure if it'll even do anything or if it'll create a habit of bad technique which will be hard to overcome once I join an actual boxing gym
more people watched this video and the video has only 1k of like why?
it is imposible so we have to support this channel like, subscribe, and share the videos of this channel.
