This siren is literally 1 minute away from me (in car) the control box was labeled 14-E, idk what 14-E means It's been replaced by a vortex or 4004. i just realized that was in the description
@VMFA115Starloric Yep. All 3016s make that bad vibrating sound every time it does voice. Usually voice quality on 3016s are terrible and hard to understand but this one is good.
Well as it turns out the photo I saw of it was taken from a crappy cell phone so it looked like they put it on a new pole, but really it wasn't touched. There aren't many of these left now.
Man you can really hear that metal screen on the front vibrating during the voice! Great catch Luke, sounds very good!
terrible mics be like
The voice is really loud! I like it.
I loved this siren the sound was great its been replaced by a 4004 with an esc 2030

@Howcast26 Yes, I could hear about 4-5 others on that day. The low tone carries pretty far.
Nice recording love the Whelen 3016

13 years late but a Whelen WPS-3016 running on 530hz is extremely rare but it being analog makes it even rarer
I miss this siren
Nice Recording. Sounds very healthy.
John Porter now its a 4004
Sounds sick because the pitch is supposed to be louder
I love the ESC-864 control box.
RIP ALL DAEC 3016s last one replaced 4months ago
Highway 13 Far South 3016 is still operational
i heard another one go off in the backround, am I right?
Great video. Sounds very good.
This siren has gotten all broken speaker drivers replaced and sits on a newer Concrete pole.
I grew up in Cedar Rapids, but I don't know where Novak elementary school. That does not look like the Cedar Rapids logo on the street sign.
This is marion
Why did they replace it with a 4004 after doing all that work on it?
idk
Because they got a federal grant
@carnivalwrkr2005 It's the Marion logo, I think.
Never heard a 3016 sound like that. ESC 8-64?

What Intersection is this?
freckly_BPG 10th Street and 29th Avenue in Marion, Iowa
Must have been an analog ESC 864 in the mid 80s by the tone
ESC-3000/MS-864
I wonder why some sirens even before they go off they spin around, LOL! As soon as the guy started talking the traffic lights went green!!
Somebody told me it was replaced with 4004s dude to a broken rotator.
That's true. Slowly but surely all of the 3016s and any omnidirectionals are being replaced with 4004s.
Its Marion Iowa
or fast wail.
i only c yellow 3016s nice white 1 =)
