I would say those cows were probably scared shitless.
Cows probably looking like what the hell was that??? 🤣🤣
i wonder if whelen made these in the early 80's then it was discontinued in the 90's
Yeah, the Hornets aren't seen very often. They're for special cases that only need small coverage as they aren't very loud.
Great video
I can understand the need for the shorter wind-down, but I personally prefer the longer one. A lot of the 4004s in the DAEC system are quite old and use 3016 controllers, so they have the long wind-downs like this. I also like the lower pitch the older DAEC sirens are set to use.
bigloudnoise alot of the older 4004s have been replaced with 4004s with esc 2030
@SSAirsoftowns There are no Thunderbolts in the DAEC system, it is 100% Whelen. The closest T-Bolts are one county over in Fairfax and Prairieburg, 25-30 miles away from where this was recorded.
witch is true. I talked to the guy that does the voice currently about these and he said they were discontinued in late 2000. This is the old guy that did the voice. His first name is Rob I forget his last name though. The new guys name is Tom Ellison. He does the new voice for Whelen. He also told me many things about the company that even I didn't know. Like he said that the Hornet does not sell to much, and that they have sirens in an Air force base in Italy. Cool huh?? He's a very nice guy.
nope. It was the nice looooooooong tones like they originaly had. Witch kinda sucks that they changed tones, but Tom did say that they changed tones due to the fact that he kept on getting calls about peoples sirens burning out due to blown drivers and blown amps. He also said that the amps cant take such low tones and long wind downs. So thats why they changed to the fast higher pitched tones that their current models now have. The 4004 is allmost as loud as the ASC T-135 siren. I think its 130
I wonder when electronic sirens started using recorded messages.
Yeah, they did have the 4004 back in 95 and that's whe they switched to the newer tones. They also have a new pitch that's 560HZ. So yeah.
Not anymore. I went up to Brecksville a few weeks ago to record it and I saw that it was taken down and replaced with a 2001-130 siren.
I could it was not a thunderbolt. because it does not wind down completely;Electronic sirens always dont wind down completely.
at 6:46, you can here a Thunderbolt wind down.
No, that's two Whelens at different pitches winding down, which makes it sound dual-tone.
@@SirenArchives actually it could very well be a thunderbolt as this whelen replaced one, as you can see by the blower platform
um why the o.O face. that's just the time that whelen is open.........
yes that's what Tom said. Allthough he did say that they did think of BRINGING BACK the 2016, and I was all like O_O OMG........BUUUUUUUUT the idea never lifted off the ground -_- so he said then that that was where the WPS 4004 and the Vortex came in. To replase the 3016. Whelen no longer makes sirens of this kind. Making this siren rare. Tom also said that Whelen has a chime tone that they give as an option along with the standard 6 tones that come with the unit. The chime is a noon chime.
whelen ws 2000s an 3000s never had a chance for a chime, only the 5 tones to chose from, air horn, alert, attack, wail an hi-low an pa if you want to count that as well
@@ryanpierson220 No, but the WPS-2900 series has the chime option as well as the WPS 4000 series.
@SSAirsoftowns No, those are other Whelens.
Why do they test in both alert and attack. Which one do they use during tornado warnings?
Ooh a ESC-3000/MS-864
Interesting. Out of curiosity, did the last few 2016's ever made have a quick wind up and long wind down kinda like the one in the video above?
so ik this awnser is done 9 years later, but the 2016 or 2000 115 how every you want to call it, the wind up an wind downs are adjust able same for the frequency out put
I don't know why I thought that looked like a DSA.
That's the general consensus on the age of these.
dude I was born a year before this :D
just one question why does the voice repeat the test bit four times when every one should know the first time
Other sirens in the system are rotating sirens, and they are commanded to point in four different directions (North, East, South, West), and the announcement is repeated in each direction. Although this siren is not a rotating siren, since it is tied into the same system as the others, it still repeats the announcement four times.
I hear another Whelen doing attack/fast wail
So, the WS Series speaker arrays were introduced sometime in late 70's/Early 80's and stopped in late 2000?
another 490hz analog esc 864
+EverythingEpicDude75 did you find out who the guy before Ellison was and if his voice messages are still available? if so where can the old voice messages be found?
Weather disaster 6 the Fort Wayne tornado emergency who’s here lol
installed in 1982
When did they quit the older tones with the quicker wind up and longer wind down?
Was it around 1995 that they changed to the 465Hz Tone Sets? I figured since the Vortex and Hornet were introduced somewhere around there, they used those tones.
BTW, I'm almost certain that the 4000-4's output is 129.
They stopped analog and converted to digital shortly after the new WPS production line was born, analog 2800s are really rare nowadays. Would’ve been real rare to also see a gen 2 analog 4004 too. That siren is an Analog Low Tone set.
LOL Many times during the video you hear Mooooooooooooooooooooooooo
What are those cows mooin about? lol they prob have no clue whats going on :)
Yeah and if the reactor does go boom, then those cows will be cooked
What’s DAEC?
Sirens of NE Ohio Duane Arnold Energy Center. It’s a nuclear power plant northwest of Cedar Rapids. It’s currently Iowa’s only nuclear plant, and it’s due to shut down in 2020.
@@sirensofneohio3979 and now it's very close to being closed down for good come sometime next year
What controller do these have
Why was this even replaced?
Jacob Tompke yes all daec consists of 4004s and 2 3016s some 4004s are running on older esc 864s
Where is this located
Moo!
Am I the only one who searched up my birthdate
