Nice! I feel like the older style Whelen voice carries farther than the newer style voice; the voice on this unit is definitely older. The Whelens up here in Wadsworth are audible in voice 5 miles away on a good weather day with minimal wind; I have heard them that far away before. For how quiet these things are, the distance they can carry always amazes me.

Those Whelens doing Alert in the beginning aren't Mundelein's. Mundelein's WPS-4004s are on the same system as this WPS-3000. Vernon Hills police controls the Vernon Hills siren system in conjunction with Countryside Fire District, and the system is actually a very big one spanning over Vernon Hills, Mundelein, the outskirts of Libertyville, and the majority of the Countryside Fire District service area. The Countryside Fire District's system (i.e. the stray 4004s around Mundelein, Libertyville, etc) are linked to Vernon Hills' system, they just use a different voice message. That wasn't always the case, however. The individual municipalities used to control their own sirens, until Countryside Fire District consolidated and got handed the responsibility of activating various WPS-4004s around Cuba Twp., Barrington, and Round Lake. Now, there's a TON of DTMF chatter over the frequency, activating all these different systems connected to one frequency. Super complicated if you ask me.
I always wondered why they send out multiple sets of Whelen DTMF before voice. That explains it. Although mundelein is it’s own system. They activated way before the 3016 and no tones went through Noie’s scanner to activate them

There's a 3016 in Mundelein which is broken (failed on me last November) and I believe the remaining 3016 in Libertyville is broken as well. And I think there's four 4004's belonging to Vernon Hills if I'm not wrong, along with the 2806. The 4004's within the Countryside Fire protection district do fast wail as well. I think they are on the same system as this one, those just use a different voice message.
@@Mr.Speedcat that is Whelen says. Just because they say it is doesn’t mean it is so yeah. Attack and fast wail are different things. Fast wail is meant for fire, and attack is for immediate emergencies. Please get your facts straight
