- Kevin was born without the part of the brain that connects the two hemispheres, a condition known as complete agenesis of the corpus callosum. He was also my student for over three years and the first person to ever be interviewed on SBSK. At birth doctors thought Kev would never walk, talk or think, but he is now applying to colleges while entering his last year of high school.

I live in Massachusetts and we have to take a test called MCAS every year. My grade came up with the phrase it really means “Massachusetts Child Abuse System”

So true! I have a learning disability when it comes to mathematics and it was never been my forte. I have to write out any calculations on paper because I'm so ADD in trying to keep the steps to solving an equation in my head. Still, I did better in other classes and graduated from college in '87.

"the fact that ive grown to be _this_ every day". i definitely need to start saying that to myself in the mirror each morning, it was such a beautiful way to express being proud to be yourself as a whole. all experiences good and bad are included, i am _this_ and im so proud to get to _this_ point. kev truly has a way with words!

😂 I love this interview!! I actually am missing my left temporal lobe. It’s actually a benign tumor lol. People can fully function without parts of their brain. I love that he’s ok talking about this.
A.C.C here to and lived most my life not knowing about it even was in the army it wasn't until later during an mri they discovered it but it sure explained a lot of issues.

@@safisaleh8229 well college seems to be out of the question I have to do 1 class at a time or repeat a class 3 times before I'll pass it only to have to retake it again later other then that I find it easier to think logically then most people and can come up with solutions to a problem that most people can not even figure out and trying to do anything creative seems impossible it's like I can only think logically.

So articulate, so charming, smart & funny! What an awesome personality this dude has!!!!! I was having an awful morning- woke up late, kids scrambling around, got in my vehicle to get them to school and it wouldn’t start😤 husbands out of town so I had to call my mother to come help us out .. my daughter texted me saying she just got assigned to write a paper- and it could be on anyone or any topic; and for some reason Chris and SBSK popped in my head! (Chris, or the Queen lol ) and while doing a quick search to make sure she knew who I was talking about I happened upon this video- and when I tell you it totally turned my day around!!! Watching this totally uplifted my mood. He was a delight to see & sit and listen to; and I’m sure he was a pleasure to teach and get to know!

I have all my brain in one and my words still come out the wrong way all the time. If everything I thought was immediately put into words I would get into serious trouble 99% of every single day. Honestly, Kevin's doing quite well in that department.

Contrary to what people think, you can live, and quite successfully, without large portions of your brain. When we get young head trauma victims in with damage or bleeds, they sometimes have parts removed that are damaged. Brain tumor patients often have both tumor and brain margins removed. People who have either a hemorrhagic stroke or thrombotic stroke lose large sections of brain and adapt. People born with this disorder learn compensatory mechanisms for dealing with the data their missing brain would ordinarily deal with. It’s so remarkable.
I like the way Chris interacts with everybody, from all walks of life, in such a kind, loving and humane way. He treats everyone the same. A very fun loving, caring and impressive guy. Love to him and all his wonderful interviewees. X
