I quite liked this plotline. The Crimean War was a good setting for this.
Best story in Flux if I'm being honest. The Sontarans felt less like potato people and more like a unified military superpower. Dan Starky is so good playing Sontarans even with the new(ish) design. It was one of like 3 stories from 13 that I felt really fit her manic bubbly franticness and she really shines in this episode (a couple corny lines aside)
they still look like potato people, just a bit well done lol
Loved the Sontarans in this series! I hope we see more of them in the future, it's surprising that Flux was only their SECOND story in Modern Who. I want to see more, especially this design!
He's a Mog, half-man, half-dog. He's his own best friend.
Also, "I'm just lookin' for the beer-head."
You can’t deny how awesome the shot of commander Skaak riding the horse is lol 😂. Makes him look like a knight on the battlefield and I love it!!
It’s comedy mixed with seriousness. Xx
I think these episodes were among my favourites from the season. I appreciated the militarised yet fun take on Sontarans
The fact that we had Dan Starky playing a Sontaran and it wasn't Strax, or Strax's equally insane cousin Stank is a crime against the Whoniverse.
So's Chinballs writing but there u are...
@@EternalPayne Indeed. The writing of a person who does not exist is (somehow) “a crime against the Whoniverse”.
Yeah, I don’t think that really makes sense myself.
(Even if you convert to the nearest available real human being, the sentence still fails to be even vaguely correct, you imbecile.)
They are clones....
to be fair they are clones
That is a good point, The Doctor did say he was part of a 6 million strong batch.
OK the strongest character is that horse. That's like 300 pounds of 6x gravity raised muscle and bone supported on a bare spine
Not gonna lie, I like the return of the classic Sontarans. Stenck was a nice change of pace from, well, I guess the last we saw of them was Strax. And Shallo was very funny in my opinion. But either way, Sonrtar HA!
Commander Skaak: "I accept your offer...... OF A MASSACRE!!!"
The Sontarans were great in Flux and I do wish RTD keep that armour for the future if he wants to bring them back! Say that you will about Chibnall but he nailed the writing on old villains 💙💙
Yeh! ^^
@Michael He ruined nothing, fake fan.
@@DrWhoFanJ he nailed all the classic and past modern who monsters, every outing of any one of them during this era has been some of my favorite stories of theirs since Classic Who or since their original stories in nuWho. I hope RTD can keep some of these things from this era and expand on it, the same way Chibnall did with some of their material
@@Dano_116 ok. According to you
@Michael How? The Daleks are left unchanged (and do more damage than the Moffat era), the Cybermen are no more ruined than how they were treated in the rest of the show (and at least we had Ashad boosting them up), the Master is as delightfully evil as ever (though yeah… it does undermine Missy’s redemption. Maybe they need to justify that), the Weeping Angels were already ruined by Moffat (if anything, Chibnall, Maxine Alderton and Jamie Magnus Stone made them scary again, the Silurians, despite their Moffat influenced designs, were very true to their classic counterparts and justified as a different tribe and the Sontarans are at their absolute best here, striking a perfect balance between menacing and silly. I will give you the Sea Devils though. Poor things had to get two vastly incompetent stories. At least they didn’t play second fiddle to anyone this time.
Still hard to get used to the more classic inspired sontaran design after getting used to the ones introduced in 10's run but it's nice
@@FreeTheDonbas yeah but the burnt Harry skin is uncomfortable
I'm like Zudoon and Sontaran, alien races that feel like warlords are straight-headed, charismatic and cool.
They bribed a Sontaran addicted to chocolate. Any addict can not say no to their next drug fix.
Love the Sontarans.
The Sontarans were my favourite part of Flux 😍
Made me miss Strax, fair well out there our best potato!
Yeah, they kinda belittled his impact on fans after S8E1.
i cant blame him for falling prey to the powers of chocolate...
I love the overhaul they did for the Sontarans - so much more classic series alien warrior samurai and less... purple potato action figures :P xD
How can you be tactically alert and situationally aware when you can't even turn your head?
2:04 The British Army was already using revolvers during the Crimean War, so this is innacurate
And apparently he doesn't know how to use a flintlock anyway since the frizzen is open and it cannot fire like that.
Who's excited for the 60th anniversary?!
Me
sorta want the non-lumpy sontarans back but maybe some are completely the same as before and some have the classic armour
I love Flux ! One of my favorite season ! ^^
Easily the best appearance and use of the Sontarans since the OG Time Warrior.
Defo the best episode of Flux by a long way. Nice to see the Sontarans back after a long time even if their appearance wasn’t that great. Wish the rest of Flux was as decent as this.
My boy needs a cheeseburger cuz hes lookin hungry in that thumbnail lmao
5:40 couldnt help but giggle at this
I like the armor, I’m not so keen on the new faces
We need a scottish sontaron
Brilliant!
I love this sontarans ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤the greatest villains ever ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤long live the sontarans
i want a figuer of this verson of the Sontarans so much
C H O C O L A T E E E E E E E
Ive wanted a video just like this
That tourist line was funny.
Came up in my fyp after The flux’s mention in Wild Blue Yonder
Why do the Sontarans from 10 years previous to this look so much better?
Skaak the war bringer.
1:58
Couldn’t that get him court marshaled, or was this before the Doctor became world president during a time of a crisis?
Dude it's the crimean war
Just give us the 60th Anniversary teaser trailer already!
I wish they could lol.
Slow down, dude! We've got the Centenary Special yet! I'd imagine the trailer will come out afterwards.
The Centenary hasn't even come out yet, calm down!
A teaser trailer for something not yet finished filming and that is still over a year away? Delusional.
@@friendlyotaku9525 I don’t care for the Centenary special. I just want the chibnall era done and over with.
one day we will see the Sontarans vs the daleks
So does this mean that this event was a paradox?
You’re talking about the Sontarans taking over Russia? I would’ve really call that a "paradox" but an alternative timeline because the Sontarans manage to sneak under the Lupari shields defences before the Flux hit the Earth and also manage to travel back in time before the formation of Russia. So you could call it a paradox but me personally I don’t think so
It'd be cool to keep chocolate as the crack of the Sontarans.
I need to check my dates but would Straxx be on planet during the past portion of this temporal war?
At least flux was better than the timeless child. I actually liked Dan and the dogman. I feel like given better stories Jodie Whittaker would have been a better doctor. But timeless child still has a bad taste in my mouth after that...
Sontarans: "Did you say... Chocolate?? CHOOOCOOOLLAATTEEE!!! CHOOOOOCOOOOOLATTTEEEE!!!"
Its a Spongebob Reference 😂😅
P.S.: the fact that sontarans love chocolate makes it worth the time spent watching Jodie's doctor lol I never had a problem with her but as a long standing Whovian, It was wierd for a bit that a woman was to play the doctor but I love this doctor! She's spunky, has a sweet side and oof, does she have a sour side too... Jodie Whitaker. The Doctress ❤
Что за фильм кто знает
Chewbacca can talk in the Whoniverse
Where have I seen this guy before? Ah yes, the siege of Minas Tirith.
4:20 he didn't gave the doctor what she wanted to
When will we see a new episode?
Jesus, so this is how new dr Who is. Brutal.
Honestly I like the fact that chibnall brought back the old design but with modern changes
Edit: wth is that CGI at 2:28 😭
One of the best stories of the entire show
Actually I thought she was the companion at 1st ... I was really confused!
Even though Flux makes literally no sense. The new sontaran design looks amazing!
So... was this ever fixed? Or is the war against the alien potato people now an established part of human history in the Doctor Who mythos?
Didnt know phil mitchell was a sontaran😂
Warrior potatoes xD That said no wonder this show bombed so hard that it was basically a faceplant into the concrete floor.
These warrior potatoes have been around since the 1970s with the 3rd and 4th doctor
@@alexanderi.3550 But at that time they weren't facing gender confused doctor eh ? :D
6:39 if the Sontaran was in America 🇺🇸. Dear god he be eating chips and cakes non stop
I'll admit, I'm on the fence about the Sontarans' recent redesign 🤔
They tried to base it on the original design, but it takes getting use to.
Yeah it feels a little more cheap
Honestly, the RTD era redesign was far more cohesive. Yes, they weren’t metal clad medieval soldier designs, but they felt more like the Clone Troopers of Star Wars. Something you’d expect to find on an advanced alien soldier, especially an army that’s fresh and prepped for new combat. The blue/purple is much catchier than the drab black and silver, and also the suit/body proportions & practical effects of the actors were far more believable and thought out.
Sometimes it’s better to be different for a good reason than bland for nostalgia.
Sontar ha 🍫
just potatos with a passion to fight
Flux was one of the best series of Doctor Who I've ever watched. A fantastic adventure with thrillingly high steaks! I'm going to miss our Thirteenth Doctor!
Good joke!
@Michael on what basis do you feel you have the right to make that judgement about me?
@Michael okay. I don't think the franchise has been destructed, and it would seem RTD agrees too. Anyway, I hope there are parts of Doctor Who that you enjoy too.
@Michael okay. It hasn’t, but fine. If you’re a true fan, you’ll be happy to let fans love whatever parts of the show they love. And for what it’s worth, your lack of support for the show’s current era is probably doing more for any possibility of the show’s potential destruction than me being a fan of the era. Let’s leave it there as we’re clearly not going to agree.
@Michael Jodie IS the Doctor. YOU are NOT a real fan.
That was one of the most foolish British Colonel in the History of British Army.. 🤣
Me after creating potato aliens on purpose to troll the universe cuz I was bored
The talking Dog reminds me of Chewbacca
SOMTAR HA
sontar- ha
Sontar- so
Everytime she speaks I cry. Everytime the Sontaran speaks I'm like yay! cool writing.
I'm in this video and I didn't liked it ( Unlimited furniture of chocolate? oh yes please! )
Im so confused...I thought they didn't "enjoy" tasting food? ???
1:20 I can't get over the fact that neither the officer nor the Doctor (nor whoever was responsable on set) notice that the pistol is not able to fire like that.
The pan cover is not down, so the powder to ignite will have fallen out and the flint can't interact with the metal to create a spark....
Well at least they kept up the tradition from Old Who that the Sontarans get uglier every time they show up
There fighting Humpty Dumpty
Nice
Yep.
Hey they got a whooky. Good job. Did Disney give you hints on how to tank your value?
I really hope that this isn’t supposed to be the Crimean War. Somebody mentioned Prussians so it seems unlikely, and the weaponry and uniforms are that of the napoleonic era. But I have a terrible feeling that it’s meant to be Crimea.
Also, typical “British bad” rubbish.
Go woke go and destroy one of Britain's most beloved shows!
5:38 lol what. Never noticed that
This Doctor got demoted to doctor.
I'm pretty glad I stopped watching after the eleventh Doctor if this is what the show is now.
It’s awful isn’t it. No emotion, no good soundtrack, no fear, no interesting plot. If they got a woman to play the doctor why don’t they get her to play her own character rather than a fake always happy knockoff?
We need a Thasmin video
YES WE DO.
@Michael Yes, we do, fake fan.
3:53 Utterly incomprehensible accent :(
💙🥔

Why the potato Heads Look different?
They went back to their looks in the Classic Who era.
@@Jarock316 Yea, Looks nice
But i Like the other Design of my little baked potato Heads
god daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn this is cringe
potato skin army
Would've preferred the 2005 sontarans, but still nice to see them.
Well, that's a damn good way to deal with a Karen.
NOT the Doctor.
Wasn't a huge fan of war of the sontarons
Female doctor
They’re the most evolved race for war and yet they’re only weakness is chocolate
Let’s not forget the hole in the back of their necks
When is this who getting replaced?
Problems: No Strax, the Sontarans look terrible, the armour looks like it was found at a skip, still no Strax, the Sontarans the warrior race is beaten by chocolate and finally NO STRAX?
With the amount of flak Flux received from fans about its writing, Strax’s absence might as well have saved his image from being ruined.
@@gammayoshi14 Very true.
I know this will be an unpopular view, and I don’t want to upset anyone, but I hope Strax never comes back. I like the way Dan Starkey plays Sontarans and I liked Strax at first. The idea behind Strax was very interesting. But after a few appearances I really started to worry. Until Flux, the only Sontarans we really saw since 2011 was Strax. Ten years. There was a whole load of kids who watching the show knowing no Sontarans other than Strax. A general toon of children thinking that Sontarans were amusing, likeable comic relief. So tartans were no longer threatening. They were completely devalued as villains.
I’m happy for Dan Starkey to come back as a Sontaran as often as he likes. But not as Strax.
