hyundai/kia/genesis has come a long long way over the years. I would buy this Genesis over any german car out there. this is close to if not superior to Lexus.
That Tau V8 under the hood is the exact same one I had in a 2012 Genny R-Spec I owned and Hyundai hasn’t made any significant changes to it yet (except for that stupid plastic cover). In fact, it actually lost 10 horses in 2015 and it’s always been ridiculously low on torque. So basically they made moderate changes to the design of the car but that damn drivetrain is 10 years old. And frankly that’s a shame.
@Harrelle Thigpen Rumor has it the V8 will be gone soon( next year) so they probably didnt want to put development money into a new design The good news is that the V8 is probably going to be long term reliable when cars get older and high mileage I will tell you the G90 is leaps ahead of the old Hyundai Genesis( and Equus which I own now) in terms of interior finish and polish They did get rid of the air suspension from the Equus which I think made it actually ride better than the G90 on a smooth road. However long term reliability will be better with the passive non air suspension
@@turnne All good points but im saying it seems kinda underhanded to make that significant of a refresh to the design while keeping the most important aspect of the vehicle (arguably) exactly the same. I understand if it ain’t broke don’t fix it but don’t play games with customers by giving them more of the same with a refreshed exterior. Most auto makers would have at least given the summbich a small HP bump or enhanced fuel economy after that long of a run.
@@Thigster You should do yourself a favor and drive one of these. They have come a million miles since the days of the Hyundai genesis...or Equus( which I have owned for 6 years) Its a legit competitor for the higher end cars today Years ago people thought it was a Hyundai in better trim As I said before...the V8 is going away anyway development will be in the twin turbo 6 and probably some hybrid/electric powertrain
@@turnneNah, let me be clear. I’ve owned both a 2012 Genesis as well as a 2015 “G80” - both of which had the same exact 5.0 V8 they’ve been reusing since it’s inception including in this brand new G90. Now I own a 2019 Lexus LS500 and frankly it’s in a whole other league than Genesis in terms of build quality, exclusivity, driving dynamics, and acceleration despite it having TTV6 instead of V8. That Tau8 is played out and they cut way too many corners in materials and engineering to truly be considered a true competitor in the space they’re aiming for. I respect them for what they are, but a true luxury competitor they are not and never will be until they stop playing the bargain game. That starts by advancing their power trains and going whole hog on materials and engineering.
@@Thigster If you were really clear you would would know that the G90 is on a whole other level than the Hyundai Genesis or the old G80 No offense...but the Equus was a much nicer car than either of those As for being on a whole other league in regard to acceleration....the G90 5.0 AWD and the Lexus LS500 are within a couple of 10ths 0-60 in acceleration I really dont know anyone in this segment that doesnt prefer a V8....and the cars that are selling in number..like the Mercedes S class are being had with V8's if you cared that much about exclusivity ..acceleration, driving dynamics etc etc as you mention why didnt you buy the Mercedes S class , 7 series or the Audi A8? Any of them will absolutely smoke the Lexus LS( or the G90) in terms acceleration( with their much larger available engines), driving dynamics, prestige, technology and available features and customization Think about it Why does the Mercedes S class sell at almost 3X the rate of the Lexus LS and at a lot more money

I waited for the 2020 refresh which took forever to even appear stateside. When it did the wheels were simply hideous so it's nice to see they've finally changed those. I am disappointed to see that they still haven't added a full digital instrument cluster as that should be standard in this segment and is curiously included on some of their lesser models. I believe the G90 and Genesis brand in general are good options for those who like the styling but they're still not quite up to par with Lexus and certainly not Mercedes or BMW.
Genesis may not be where Lexus, Mercedes and BMW. But they ain’t far behind, they pass Acura and damn for sure passed Infiniti.
BMW makes hideous cars, what the hell? This Genesis is far far prettier, and will last much longer, costing much less in repairs.
@@redrock861 Well, that's obviously a matter of opinion but I'm not an overall fan of BMW either. I will tell you, my 2015 Hyundai Genesis [before it became the G80] wasn't exactly cheap to repair. The tires alone for that model were nearly $400.00/each.
This is a beautiful car, full stop. I would proudly drive this car anywhere and enjoy every second of it. I love Mercedes-Benz, i love Lexus, I love these too, they are worthy competitors to ANY Luxury car. Delightful automobiles!
I like this car and the video, very informative. I'm in the market for a Big sedan. My first and second choices are both out of production, Cadillac CT 6 and Lincoln Continental. Shopping around and this beauty is on my list!
😂😂😂😂😂 Caddy. Lincoln or Japanese. Zero class. Loser.
This or Hyundai Equus

@@BenHardyCars good Ben
hyundai/kia/genesis has come a long long way over the years.
@Harrelle Thigpen
Rumor has it the V8 will be gone soon( next year) so they probably didnt want to put development money into a new design
The good news is that the V8 is probably going to be long term reliable when cars get older and high mileage
I will tell you the G90 is leaps ahead of the old Hyundai Genesis( and Equus which I own now) in terms of interior finish and polish
They did get rid of the air suspension from the Equus which I think made it actually ride better than the G90 on a smooth road.
They have come a million miles since the days of the Hyundai genesis...or Equus( which I have owned for 6 years)
Its a legit competitor for the higher end cars today
Years ago people thought it was a Hyundai in better trim
As I said before...the V8 is going away anyway
development will be in the twin turbo 6 and probably some hybrid/electric powertrain
@@Thigster If you were really clear you would would know that the G90 is on a whole other level than the Hyundai Genesis or the old G80
No offense...but the Equus was a much nicer car than either of those
As for being on a whole other league in regard to acceleration....the G90 5.0 AWD and the Lexus LS500 are within a couple of 10ths 0-60 in acceleration
I really dont know anyone in this segment that doesnt prefer a V8....and the cars that are selling in number..like the Mercedes S class are being had with V8's
if you cared that much about exclusivity ..acceleration, driving dynamics etc etc as you mention why didnt you buy the Mercedes S class , 7 series or the Audi A8?
Any of them will absolutely smoke the Lexus LS( or the G90) in terms acceleration( with their much larger available engines), driving dynamics, prestige, technology and available features and customization
Think about it
Why does the Mercedes S class sell at almost 3X the rate of the Lexus LS and at a lot more money
Some how I think it better
