    Danielle, thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. I have always back stitched each individual stitch. This has helped more than you know. Again, thank you thank you!! Much stitchy love to you also 🌻

    Hey Danielle, not only was that video informative, it was also incredibly relaxing watching you backstitch. I almost wish you'd picked a bigger project so I could have watched for longer. I backstitch in pretty much the same way and it's always good to get the reassurance that my way isn't hideously wrong! Very best wishes. Philip x

    Thank you for taking the time to share these tutorials with us! If I could suggest something, I would like the see a three quarter stitch demonstration going in all directions. Sometimes I don’t feel like I’m doing it right. Thanks again!

    I know this is old but thank you! I'm new to cross stitch & I've wondered whether there's a "correct" way to do the backstitch & it seems as though it's really more about personal preference, so I have to experiment. Again, thank you. I'm going through some of your cross stitch playlists & they're helpful. 💜

    Thanks for the video. It’s always interesting to see how someone else does things. I backstitch the same way, but always felt I “should” be doing each stitch. I agree that your way is neater, and I feel vindicated!😊 Have a good stitchy day!

    Love the look! New to me, long stitches for back stitching. I always shy away from patterns that have back stitching because never really liked the way it looks. The long stitches look good! Thank you for sharing 💜Stitcherista💜.

    Thank you so much for making this so easy! I'm famous for a) having horrible backstitching (I'm the queen of crooked lines!) and b) making backstitching way more complicated than it need be! I love being able to see your method and now I can't wait to try it! Sending hugs of gratitude! 🌷

    I have been thinking of ideas for videos, you and the other flosstube community always say it takes so much to do a video. I’d love to see a “behind the scenes” look at how you set up, make notes, and edit. From concept to upload. I’ll never do a video, but I’d love to see what is involved. It may also help others get started or even realize how much it really takes. ❤️❤️❤️

    Great tutorial. I’m guessing that the backstitch pattern on the underside of your piece will not look anything like the topside purely because you are ‘cutting the corners’ on the underside. I have seen other videos where the top and underside backstitches are exactly the same on a pattern with corners, but to achieve this some of the backstitch segments will have a single thread and others will have a double thread. If you’re not worried what the underside looks like then your method will produce a more consistent looking topside because only single stitches are used.

    Do you have a "limit" as to how long you will make a long stitch? For example, if the pattern had called for backstitching along the backside of the witch , that looks like it would be 15 or more stitches. Sometimes when I try to do longer ones like that, it seems that the backstitch thread ends up loose, even if I try to pull it a little tighter, so I usually end up doing 2 or three longer sections in an area like that. I've always wondered if there was some kind of rule of thumb.

    • @Stitcherista
      @Stitcherista  6 років тому +1

      Katrina Gormley I don't have a limit. On peony pixie on her legs I had some that were 8 to 10 stitched and I just pulled the thread more snug than I normally would and it is not loose.

    Hi Danielle. Just wondering how many stitches would be the maximum length you would do for a long length of backstitch? Thanks.

  • @StitchingJoanne
    @StitchingJoanne 6 років тому

    Your backstitch looks neater than mine, probably because you do it as instructed, whereas mine is more like forward-and-back-stitch (come up in a filled hole)

    Hi Danielle. Your tutorials are great and makes cross stitch less intimidating. I am afraid of fractional stitching and how to read the chart. I understand the half and full but cannot grasp how to read the chart for quarter and 3 quarter stitching. I would so appreciate it if you can show us floss tubers how you do them. Much thanks.

    I just did the back stitching on my first ever piece. I am glad that my long stitches were okay to be longer. The diagram wasn't super clear. I do have a question though is there a limit to how long a back stitch can be? Like is 6 too many? I was doing the "I Can't Adult Today" kit from Dimensions. I almost feel like looking at it now that I should have broken down the longer ones where I could ("I" and the "A" in Adult were really long one side. What do you think?

    • @Stitcherista
      @Stitcherista  5 років тому

      It is personal preference really. I don't think six stitches is too long of a line. When I did my Peony Pixie I did long stitches in her legs and I think I did longer than six stitches.

      Stitcherista that's great thank you. But what about when you first start, I've been using the waste knot method. I know there is no hard n fast rule is has to be done a certain way but it is always good to know other ways xx

    • @Stitcherista
      @Stitcherista  6 років тому +1

      Claire Kebbell the waste knot is what I do. But in cases where you use two strands to do backstitch, which does happen sometimes, you can use the loop method.

      You need to be careful to not carry backstretch over an area that has no other stitches so it won't show from the front.

    How long is to long for a straight stitch? I will usually do up to three anything longer than that I'm afraid may get caught on something. Don't ask what cause I don't know what. However, how long of a straight back stitch do you consider to be to long? Thanks for all the recent videos, you must be feeling pretty good after your battle with cancer. I've learn a few new things.

    Hey Doll! Thank you for the awesome video, I can't wait to try your technique tonight and see if I can add it to my arsenal. I did want to ask, how do you end your back stitch? Do you anchor like you began, or in two directions? if there is no stitching near the back stitching, will you carry it to anchor it too?
    Thank you again for making your videos, in their entirety!!!

    • @Stitcherista

      Andrea Ward I do anchor it by running under nearby stitches. I have actually never come upon an instance where I has no stitches around backstitch.

      Tracey Salt I don't have a maximum length in mind. On peony I have done 10 to 15 stitches as one long stitch. It all depends on your preference.
