    Thank you for showing how to anchor the thread for 1 strand! I've been skimming too many videos trying to find a tutorial for just that one small part. 😅

    I know this is totally forbidden in embroidery (both traditional and cross stitch), but I tie knots. I am too nervous about my work unraveling to weave the tails in! I think those of you who weave them in are brave heroes, though! Haha! ;)

    Thanks much for confirming that “long stitch”indeed means you skip across entire length of your line with just one big long stitch. Came across it in a chart where making bunny whiskers and brows. Thanks, too, for confirming I should wait until the very end to do these long stitches. I was a bit afraid they might get snagged if I put them in too early.

    I’m so thrilled as I finished my first cross stitch in 40 years. Was so lovely to do. I’m excited starting off with the loop method. Stitch one way and then cross over that the other. Knotting off with the under 4 stitches makes the back lovely and neat. I used the long stitch and liked that. Now to frame and display in my quilting room. Thank you Kimberly for these University lessons.

    Haven't cross stitched in about 30 years. Have enjoyed these classes which have been excellent. Thanks to you, I have been bitten by the "cross stitch" bug again.

    Thank you for explaining how the long stitch is done and how you anchor your thread on the back stitch when using one thread instead of two!🥰

    I've been stitching for many years but I learned something from this awesome video! I've always wondered how to anchor your floss for backstitching if it's done with one thread.... Thank you for demonstrating, Kimberly! I know it is cross stitch taboo, but I have always used knots in these circumstances. Now I'm excited to do some backstitching with NO knots! :)

    I love your instructions. I always use a laying tool when you want the threads to line up nicely. Saves you separating threads.

    Hello.
    I'm sooo new to the cross stitch scene.. I love it. You are a very good teacher. I'm not really into the cross stitch on the boxes material. I really want to do the " doodlestitching" and I know I need to learn the basics. I guess my
    question is if I'm stitching on jeans,blankets etc... how to I count my stitches and keep them even and taught??

      Hi, these videos are great! I have a pattern that calls for a back stitch, but the pattern looks like it should be a long stitch (the outline doesn't fall nicely within the holes of the Aida). Do i just make my own holes where it looks like it will be needed? I feel like that would look terrible.

    Your stitches are perfect-looking. Was wondering why you didn't railroad the straight (long and back) stitches or is that just for crosses? Haven't gone all the way through but do you show the running stitch or is that just in embroidery? Love these videos.

    • @FatQuarterShopFlossTube
      @FatQuarterShopFlossTube  2 роки тому +1

      Hello Susan! Railroading is for the x's. Running stitches are only for embroidery.

    What is the benefit in using the long stitch on the roof instead of the back stitch? Or even in general, long vs back.

    • @FatQuarterShopFlossTube
      @FatQuarterShopFlossTube  3 роки тому +1

      Hello Renee! There is not advantage it is just the look the long stitch gives a long smooth look like maybe if you were using it on a broom, The backstitch will give it a kind of choppy look and takes longer to stitch.

    Why don't we want to use knots at all? Anchoring it only seems like a good thing! I'm making a quilt patch for a baby blanket that I want to be able to hold up to the washing machine!

      I just started x stitch and my DMC pattern said to knot on the front several stitches over from the first stitch then couch that at the back as you stitch, then snip the knot off. I prefer this on a longer run of stitches to loop method which halves my cotton.
