I love amber perfumes, and there are indeed many that smells similar, for me the trick is to find different twists on it, here are a few examples: * Ambre Impérial Van Cleef & Arpels - a sweet warm amber with a fresh citrussy top, feels more feminine to me. * Ambre D'Alexandrie Boucheron - an "cinnamon apple pie" amber * Woman Amber Halston - a "cola" amber * Suki Essence Weil - a dried fruit and spices amber * Nuit d’Orient Coryse Salomé - a very affordable antique (kinda dusty) resinous amber
Thank you for your list! I have had Ambre Impérial and I actually got rid of it because it was too perfect. That sounds strange but I just got bored. It is beautiful but my nose seems to demand something new or even disturbing these days.
My dear I have a very similar experience with tuberose perfumes. I’ve got to the point where I cannot find a new one. Whenever I have smelt smt new I found it so refreshing 😌
Have you tried Fauni from Angela Chiampagna? The people that sold it to me insists that it has tuberose although fragrantica doesn't list it. It has a beautiful bubblegummy opening, very different from anything I have smelled before. It has incense in the base. The only problem with the fragrance is that I find it a bit weak.
@@thehonestperfumereviewer6336 i have not! Looking forward to! Even if I love string fragrances 😅 I wonder how there could even exist a weak tuberose scent 😄
I can't believe I haven't come across your channel before - what content!! I agree with your message: MFK's Grand Soir and Amber 114 smell the same to me. Tango smells like spicy coke to me for the first few hours, and then it's the same amber base. And then I have Carven's Paris Mascate, and it's very powdery heavy dusty amber in the beginning. A couple of hours later - smell very similar to others.
Thank you! I had a decant of Grand Soir and loved it and really wanted a bottle and then, suddenly, I couldn't wear it anymore. It was too perfect, too boring or maybe too masculine. Not sure what. I ended up giving the decant away. I really do like ambers, but they are so similar.
I was just thinking the same thing recently. Amber Precieux seems like the reference,, even though I don't have it, because they all smell the same. Animalic facets are the differentiating factor for me, Pierre Guillaume l'Ombre Fauve and Le Galion Ferveur are a couple of favorites of mine. I was just searching for Sumo Wrestler myself, hard to find in Europe though.
MFK Grand Soir was the main amber fragrance in my collection, until a few months ago when I bought a bottle of Penhaligon's Cairo and now to my nose Grand Soir actually pales a bit in comparison, although yes there are some similarities and I still like Grand Soir. Cairo (by Christophe Raynaud) is gorgeous and more feminine than GS. It's also more complex. The top notes of Cairo are Damask Rose and Saffron; the mid, is Vanilla, Nagarmotha (Cypriot Oil) and Labdanum; and the base is Sandalwood, Patchouli and Cedar. Overall, it's a beautiful saffron, rose, incense, woody experience. I feel very sultry when I wear it and a little bit elegant-hippy. I'm surprised it's not talked about more among fragrance lovers. I bought it in August and I live in California so I wasn't able to wear it much in the summer, but autumn is here now and I'm reaching for it weekly. Another beautiful new amber in my collection is Quentin Bisch's Venenum Kiss by Ex Nihilo. It also shares the saffron, rose, vanilla and sandalwood notes that Cairo has but for all it's ambery similarities, it's different. You have to like or want a saffron forward fragrance to like Venenum Kiss, which I was looking for and certainly found it with VK. But for me my favorite aspect of the fragrance is it's powdery and feminine dry down. Like Cairo, I find it sultry and sexy. Top notes are Saffron, Nutmeg and Neroli; middle notes are Rose, Amber and Artemisia; base notes are Vanilla, Sandalwood and Styrax.
Ambre Nuit and Ambre Precieux are my reference ambers. However, Ambre Royal by Ormonde Jayne deserves a mention as well.and congrats on hitting the 1k subscribers milestone.
I find Ambre Nuit to be more of a tobacco scent even though there is no tobacco note listed. There is something masculine about it. It is great on a man! Never tried Ambre Precieux or Ambre Royal. Am excited to have over 1k subscribers, thank you for mentioning it!
Ambers are a group of perfumes I have no luck with. Almost everyone feel cloying or just too dense in a way. But I love to smell Ambre Sultan on my husband!
Have you tried Dhajala from Xerjoff? I would describe it as an herbal amber, not a resinous amber. It has green and floral touches and an ambery vanillic base. It is beautiful!
@@thehonestperfumereviewer6336 No, I have not tried that one, but I will serach for a sample! Now I have two suggestions for ambers to try, thank you!!
Really!? I find vanillas really different. Like Ani compared to Rosendo Mateu no 7 or Metallique from Tom Ford. Oud Satin Mood is very vanillic but it completely different from these.
Great summaries, I was all set to get a bottle of Yawahada (Soft Skin) from J-Scent but may have to sample Sumo Wrestler first now. Some day I'll get Chergui/Serge Lutens, at the moment my amber SOTD is She/House of Matriarch.
@@thehonestperfumereviewer6336 you’re welcome ☺️ I also have these moments during the videos cause I do not prepare what I will say 😂 especially in my native language cause I usually register that one first 😅😘

Agree on the Weil one and on the Boucheron one. Have not smelt the others ☺️

Totally agree, but the best amber is L'Eau Ambre from L'Artisan

Interesting! Will try to get my nose on Cairo. Unfortunately, no shop in Stockholm has Penhaligon's. Need to go to Southern Sweden.

Give Ambre Royal by Ormonde Jayne a try. It is definitely not cloying.

I have the same issue with vanilla based fragrances. With the exception of TF tobacco vanille, they all generally smell very close.

Thanks! I have had a mini of Chergui but I never wore it. Never tried She, thanks for the tip!
I used to hate ambers but I’ve found some I love. I find I can only wear them in winter though.
I can wear certain ones on a chilly summer night. Wore Le Lion last summer.
Thank you

I'm wearing Ambre Sultan today, topical
Used to have it, but thought it was a little on the heavy smoky side. It is pretty similar to other ambers just like my video title says, haha.
