crazy that just in 2 years the Go went from being the first standalone VR headset to being obsolete and talked about as if it doesn't count anymore. The Quest really owes its existence to the Go though
So true,I remember wanting one so bad and now I have a quest 2 and disregard the go lol I might buy it for the kids to play with it's inexpensive so if it breaks it won't be so heartbreaking.
Thinking of ordering one. I like that it’s self contained. No additional hardware needed and at a good price point. I like that it’s mobile but I’d feel a bit self conscious using it in public or a plane...
your right oculus rooms was amazing until oculus decided to pull the plug on it leaving no get together app on the platform there excuse was that they where going to release facebook horizons on the go but now customers are just angry and totally ticked off
I’m very interested in buying the Go for myself. I am a hardcore gamer, but I’m fairly certain that for this year’s Christmas, my whole family is gonna pitch in to buy me a Rift, so I thought that buying the Go for myself would be perfect. I can already imagine laying in my bed all snuggled up in a blanket watching UA-cam and Netflix with full immersion. That’s the life right there.
*Great review* man! *Oculus rooms* and the whole social aspect will be the defining factor for its mainstream adoption imo. Immersive, comfortable media consumption is a close second of course. *I believe front cameras/sensors should become standard in all headsets* , with a dedicated button for instant activation. Reason: Communicate, be aware of your surroundings, take photos, MR/AR.
NBW Elmo the quest 2 is much better for media viewing. The screen quality is miles better so there is barely any screen door effect. You also don’t need to use the controllers since it has hand tracking.
@@ginnis_14 Having to use a Facebook account is problematic though. Everyone knows who you are and can track you back to your account. I don't recommend using media on Oculus Quest 2. Or anything with multiple players for that matter.
Not only a great video Mike, but as such an amateur creator, I have to say that I'm EXTREMELY impressed with the editing in this one. Careful Mike, or I might just have to call you a PRO xD. So glad you have the time now after going full time, to bring us these great tutorials / guides / more personal video's as well as your great game-playing ones as well. I've been telling as many people as I can about your fantastic "Beat Saber" video........ hope you'll be bringing on 15-20k subs soon, Mike.
I've had my Go for about a year. It's getting a lot more use now in these times of social distancing, stay-at-home life. Not for games, so much, like you said, but I do like to go on UA-cam and other 360 players where you will find plenty of 360 videos: mostly travel and cultural. One comment about set-up: mine would not set-up until I charged it overnight first. Then it was easy.
Hey Mike, this was almost 2 years ago... what's your view on this now? Would you still recommend this as a neat standalone to watch Netflix and all, or are there other, maybe better alternatives? And which storage would you advise?
Quest is the way to go now if you’re buying a standalone headset but the Go is great if you just want to watch movie content and you’re not that interested in games []-)
@@VirtualRealityOasis I already have the Rift S, but that needs to be hooked up to a computer. Thought maybe the Go was a nice cheap alternative like you mentioned to take with me on travels.
Why didn’t you wait for the quest to come out. There the same thing except the quest you can play games it has two controllers which are much like the rift controllers and you have 6 degrees of freedom
I have enjoyed my Go so far since getting it, only downer I found is Oculus Rooms isn't cross compatible with Rift. My friend joined a party with me on his Rift but couldn't access my Room to play games with me. Not as deal breaker by any means but would have been cool to be able to sync up with my ever small friends list on Rift to interact on the Go.
I ordered mine yestarday. It ships from Ireland so I'll have to wait. I already own a Gear VR wich I use for watching movies on Netflix. Your video is fantastic!
Oculus Go came out the day before I went in for 5 day’s at the hospital. Tried to load as much content in that first day. Unfortunately it didn’t work too well with both Xfinity and the hospitals internet needing a two stage authorization to work, which the oculus go couldn’t seen to do. So, now I can’t wait to get home for 6 weeks of recouping watching PLEX VR. One other thing that isn’t great is the options for audio. It doesn’t seem to offer Bluetooth connectivity. I hope third party vendors offer some options soon.
Yes mate. I have more time not to spend on videos so I want to make them look more professional. I enjoyed the transitions from screen to me moving around and getting the parcel. That was really fun []-)
I think you did a very good job without the need of editing. You give us a lot of information within one take. Like the unboxing, setup and remove the inner part to show the lenses. So smooth and easy to understand.
Sry to bug you again, that part I know, i got some of those based on your recommendations, but I am a noob with man stuff like screwing things and mounting things, my main expertise is building the managaing the pc itselfs, my tricky part is how to get it to stick to the ceiling! I am not building a new dedicated oculus pc and moving my rift out of my tiny bedroom into my big living room for all to enjoy!
If they allow oculus go to use as a steam vr device, or some company like riftcat figures out a way to do so, and that would be truly amazing and bring the full vr experience to a cheap price
So you can stream your desktop which means any steam game is playable in the headset using Bigscreen. It's locked to 30fps right now but improvements are coming soon! []-)
I think I'll give it a try, I have a Vive and PSVR but I hate cables (considering getting tpcast for my vive) but this seems an ideal portable alternative
Mike, when you travel with it by car can you hook it up to your WiFi using your phone as a hot spot. Does it work. I know that you could lose a signal . Like to watch Netflix
Pretty much obsolete. Barely any support from Oculus themselves and most of the games are terrible, ports of gear vr titles or also playable on quest. If you're trying to decide just get the quest.
Thank you for doing this. I just bought the Oculus Go, and I am really enjoying it. I have a PSVR which I also love. I was very happy to see that some of my favorite games are available on the GO. I have been playing them both. My question is can I use my Steelseries controller with this. I am dealing with the GO controller OK, but would like to use a more familiar controller. A travel case would be nice also. By the way you were awesome in the light saber episode.
Thanks for the great video. Some questions though... I don't have FB account. And I don't plan to create one. How will that impact my Oculus Go experience? Second, will Xiaomi's version be China-exclusive with Chinese apps only, or will it just have another OS like some variant of MIUI (possibly EN/CN?). Last but not least, can apps from PlayStore be installed, or at least sideloaded? I know there's Oculus store, but there's also great VR apps in Google's store too.
You don't need to, you can just create an Oculus account. The Mi in China will likely just have chinese apps. Apps can be sideloaded but it's a fairly involved process []-)
Hey, how did you capture and export the footage using the Go?? I have one, and I can't figure out for the life of me how I can export the videos I've recorded.
I guess, if more people around me would have one and would use it like everyday media I could enjoy it as well. But as long as I'm pretty much the only one who got a VR Headset except one friend, it's kinda hard to enjoy the full VR-social-experiance. I'd love to do more VR stuff with friends. I had the most fun with this one friend in VR while we were using Facebook spaces (months ago) just by hanging out there, chatting and showing stuff from the internet. Oculus Go? Push it with Multiplayer Games (like strategy games or something like that) and ability to watch movies together (using Netflix together would be awesome. Like Google Handouts with UA-cam) and it will be good to go for the future
Virtual Reality Oasis but is the latency low enough and the picture quality good enough to have fun with it? As I understood, you stream your screen to your mates, don‘t you?
Thanks for the help! I am going to buy oculus go, with the oculus rift s which i already have. One question: should i buy oculus go with 32gb or should i buy with 64gb. The 32gb is cheaper at 130 dollars while 64gb is 230 dollars!
I bought this hoping to be an upgrade of my VR Gear, it is not. No dioptric adjustment, worse light bleed, less viewing angle and heavier. Plus you have to pair it with a phone to even make it work at the start. Beware, the 32GB version only has 22GB of usable memory. Speakers were excellent though.
I'm still playing my PS3 , was going to upgrade either to a PS4 or my phone to play Vr, but occulus go is cheap as chips, as a casual gamer who watches heaps of movies I thinks its a great idea. Bidding on one now on eBay.
Great Work ! i really like your video Oasis and i really like oculus go rather than anyother vr device as i will buy this very soon ...onething i really need to say watching movie in vr specially in cinevr app was a great experience and a immersive treat if cinevr creator could install some app like youtube, netflix etc in cinevr app could be more immersive bcoz watching netflix series in theatre with spatial sound will add some mindblowing experience.

One other thing that isn’t great is the options for audio. It doesn’t seem to offer Bluetooth connectivity. I hope third party vendors offer some options soon.
You could plug in some headphones or use a bluetooth headphone jack adapter ;)
The best Go games are Deadalus and BlazeRush, best experience is Face Your Fear Stranger Things
How long did the update take, it’s taking a long time for me.
Funny you say that why does it take me two days to just get the Wi-Fi and phone Bluetooth in👏🤔
I'm ordering the oculus go in a few days.
I ordered...waiting for delivery!
Yikes, big mistake, oculus quest is 1000X better
Oculus quest is better for gaming
Thanks got my Oculus Go 64gb loving it. New Subscriber nice to see a VR channel great videos keep up the great work.
Cheers for the support Keith []-)
Neat! I wonder why no one talks about it it’s actually cool!
It's a 4 year old headset.. but yeah it's cool
Did you edit this? It's very well done :)
Yes mate. I have more time not to spend on videos so I want to make them look more professional. I enjoyed the transitions from screen to me moving around and getting the parcel. That was really fun []-)
Nice job, yeah that transition was surprisingly smooth. Keep it up mate []^)
I think you did a very good job without the need of editing. You give us a lot of information within one take. Like the unboxing, setup and remove the inner part to show the lenses. So smooth and easy to understand.
I agree but the editing makes it nicer either way
Off topic comment a little, can u recommend a product for mounting my rift cameras on the ceiling?
Any camera mount will do, they use the same thread []-)
Can you use it, while it's charging?
Yes. It gets a bit hot but it works []-)
I think I'll give it a try, I have a Vive and PSVR but I hate cables (considering getting tpcast for my vive) but this seems an ideal portable alternative
The Go is a great headset. Ideal for social experiences and consuming media content []-)
Nice.mine will be here Tuesday..Is it wifi only or can it be used 4G from your phone?
If you create a wifi hotspot on your phone that would work []-)
Virtual Reality Oasis So it does Work on Wi-Fi only.. I guess that's gonna have to do lol lol
Will an Xbox One or SteelSeries controller pair with Oculus Go. Ive seen a couple other youtubers say they do but need to see it to believe it.
You will see for yourself in 10 mins ;) controller video inbound
I wonder if you'd still use this if you also have a quest.
I had it but I traded for the quest. Should arrive in 2 days
Mike, when you travel with it by car can you hook it up to your WiFi using your phone as a hot spot. Does it work. I know that you could lose a signal . Like to watch Netflix
Yeah, you can connect your Go to your phone as a Wifi hotspot []-)
Virtual Reality Oasis thanks Mike!
the strap on the go is way better than the quest 2's loll
Would you say this headset is obsolete with the release of the quest? Or would you say it still has its place?
If you’re using the Steel Series Stratus XL then yes it will work. I will have a video showing off all the compatible controllers soon []-)
Thank you!
I just ordered one and was wondering why I need to pair it to my phone?
Only really for initial setup []-)
Just connect the Go to PC and then put the headset on. Click allow and then you will see all the files []-)
Thanks!!
You can watch movies together right now using Bigscreen []-)
Virtual Reality Oasis but is the latency low enough and the picture quality good enough to have fun with it?
As I understood, you stream your screen to your mates, don‘t you?
goes from a cool room that looks like its from the future to normal house
Ima call this thing the Quest Zero
mad that two years later and £50 more gets you a quest 2 with specs so much more powerful than the go.
Mine already arrived I just have to wait a couple days til my birthday is here to open it 😊👍
Thanks for the help!
I am going to buy oculus go, with the oculus rift s which i already have.
One question: should i buy oculus go with 32gb or should i buy with 64gb.
The 32gb is cheaper at 130 dollars while 64gb is 230 dollars!
Imo the oculus quest is way better and they are going to stop supporting the go in December so it's not worth it
Drker ok thanks for the help!
@@count5621 And it is a viewing headset. Not really for gaming. You can't walk. All you can do is point and watch.
AddictiveJokes thank you
I new it before but my rift S is only for gaming
And i want a youtube vr But thank you!
@@count5621 Oh ok. 😀
I really enjoyed this review, thank you. Have a 64 gig on the way. Followed.
Boom! Nice one Ken! Enjoy it mate []-)
What's the maximum size (resolution) of 360 degree video that can be played without system stuttering please?
Saving up 4 an oculus quest
Basically it's newer standalone gear VR ?
In my recommendations today... yeah :D
Are some social applications on the oculus go are cross play with like oculus rift or rift s?
Is there an unofficial way to connect the Oculus Go to a PC and set it up that way?
Nope, unfortunately not mate. You need a phone just for setup []-)
Looks awesome Mike!
Thanks PD! []-)
That transition at the start tho
Humble beginnings
I'm still playing my PS3 , was going to upgrade either to a PS4 or my phone to play Vr, but occulus go is cheap as chips, as a casual gamer who watches heaps of movies I thinks its a great idea. Bidding on one now on eBay.
I can’t believe it’s been 3 years already
may be I’ll take it to the gym😆
IM WATCHING THIS IN OCULUS BROWSER ON THE GO XD
how did u get your Oculus Go that quick i order my on day one and still waiting
I was quick off the mark and kept pressing refresh all day lol []-)
i did get mean on the same day but the postman left a note as i had to pick it up from the post office in town this morning
I really want the go for Christmas (I made my mom feel bad and she told me I got it cause I was scared I did not get it) and I cant find a way to skip to Christmas
Not long now Speedster []-)
@@VirtualRealityOasis omg you replied!
@@VirtualRealityOasis btw you helped me alot
@@VirtualRealityOasis also is oculus room online or do you have to meet them irl first
Can you buy another controller or is it just one
good question
How many sets of stairs does this man have
can the GO stream video from over my network of must I copy them to SD first?
You can stream video from your Pc to your Go using Bigscreen remote desktop feature or Plex []-)
I just got my oculus go and I’m using it in 2 days I waged to ask when u move around ina game can u turn ur head and look beside and up from we’re u are
You cant really play with one controller
