Update - I've heard reports than any battery pack connected to the Quest whilst the headset and battery are off will drain the Quest's battery. This isn't just an issue with the VR Power from Rebuff Reality. Please let me know if you've also experienced this? []-)
So we turned a 400$ headset in to a multi thousand dollar headset, still very cool though Edit: it’s more like 900$ sorry for the confusing hyperbole also great job Mike love the videos!😁
Personally, I use a anker battery pack and a 3D printer holder to attach it to my quest. It’s a very nice counterbalance. I’m also looking to purchase the VR Cover facial interface soon.
I'll be getting the oculus quest one day and your channel tells me everything I need to now about oculus quest and your good at knowing every VR headset
There’s something I believe you missed in the travel cases part of the video: the Casematix oculus quest carrying case. I’ve been using it for a bit over a month now and it’s really good. The outside is sturdy and the foam inside the case is densely packed to keep everything inside tightly fitted. There’s case customization with little foam cubes on the inside that you can remove or insert to get a perfect fit. I personally love it
I've gotten my oculus modded a little bit, with some pads for the head strap which completely removed strain on the back of my noggin, and hand straps for the touch controllers. Happy to see you showing off some stuff I'll definitely think about buying, especially the VR Cover face pad, since the one on the quest already is starting to hurt my face after long sessions.
@@ajvYT I really hope you're right, but a video I saw a few days ago (from Eric for President, great guy, go sub if you want daily VR news) said that this may be some kind of quest pro at the $600 range. I really hope it isn't, but if the specs really are something like 4k at 90 Hz, it would make sense.
Is there a nose flap for the oculus rift? Been searching all over the internet but can’t seem to find a silicon one. Would the facial interface for the quest with the silicon nose flap fit with the facial interface of the rift?
Damn you, Mike. Just when I think I have everything I need, you have me spending more dough! Also, glad to see I’m not the only one who ditched the Vive headphones in the frankenquest mod! The buds are just so much more immersive.
I went with the AMVR grips after watching a few UA-cam comparisons with the Mamuts. Very comfortable, grippy, and feel good in hand. The only time I don't like them is when I have to change the controller batteries, which requires a loosening of the velcro straps used to hold the straps to the controllers. For comfort, I attached some weights to the rear strap for counterbalance, then used a generic leather face cushion - my Quest is as comfortable as my CV1 as a result. For headphones, I went with a pair of Koss Porta Pros that were modified to strap to the Quest via a seller on Etsy -- sounds better than my CV1, which also used Koss headphones (just not as good as the Porta Pros). Like you, I went with the Lowepro case - great for keeping the Quest and all its accessories in one space in my home.
Forgot to mention I bought a Proximat as well based on Mike's videos - a great way to define my available space so I can avoid hitting furniture. Never realized how much I needed it until I had one.
I've had the go quest halo strap mod but when I first got in back in June one of the pieces broke and had to wait a month but since the v3 came out I've had no issues and I love it
I have the Kiwi plastic part of the facial interface for the vents, with the thick padding from VR Cover, and the cloth from VR Cover. I also have the VR Cover strap padding. I then used Sony earbuds and just utilized the VR Cover strap padding for cable management. I did try adding the Rebuff Reality battery, but found it all too heavy. I may just strap that to a belt loop or something for long game play.
@@VirtualRealityOasis OK Thx []-) Im sad because I've been saving for a Quest but I still don't have enough $$ Hopefully the Quest 2 is cheaper so I won't have to save as much.
Ive got the quest 2 with a vinyl sticker i bought from etsy with the elite battery strap and AMVR grips coming in the mail in a week. I've already been using the vrcover facial interface which has been feckin awesome.
I highly recommend getting rechargeable 1.5 volt batteries to use in the controllers so you never have to buy any more batteries.. I also managed to find a way to use sidequest to install a custom minecraft cave virtual environment too. I've fully decked out my quest 2. I'm definitely glad I bought the 255gb model so I can have the ultimate quest 2 experience.
I personally have about 60% of the items you've shown. The VR SHELL COVER is my favourite because my Quest looks so badass. This was a fantastic vid. Well presented and professional. Well done buddy 😎👍
Your videos are always so informative man and very appreciated, I love the honest reviews and how you remain unbiased. I actually have a question if you see this comment, with all these attachments in the video on the quest would i be able to wear my glasses with it? I wouldn't know how to go about buying prescription lenses and I actually don't own a quest yet anyways
The new V2 VR Cover does bring the lenses a bit closer to your eyes so the room for glasses is reduced. Just be careful not to scratch your lenses []-)
I bought some magnetic USB C connectors and have starting switching all my electronics to them. Its so convenient, and it saves the Quest's jack from accidental damage. Also, VR Cover makes a headstrap pad for the DAS that is a must-buy for FrankenQuest owners.
I would really recommend the VR Cover textile cover (or whatever it's called). It adds a nice soft layer onto the pleather and at least for me, it causes me to hit the sweet spot in terms of distance to the lens (no wobbling when I move my head around).
I've noticed the battery drain problem with a regular Anker power bank as well, I don't think it's a problem just with the VR power device. Very annoying issue that maybe could be fixed with a Quest firmware upgrade.
@@Billy-ky6dm I'd recommend the halo strap or counter weight more. Fraken Quest is highly overrated IMO. You can do the same for a lot cheaper with a halo strap or counter weight
DylPickle A lot of people have said the same thing. I have tried both and i just feel like the DAS is more robust and looks better, but i was using a psvr and the halo strap was extremely comfortable.
