Vader totally should've kept the pack. Just walk onto the bridge of your super star destroyer with your pack. Kill a bunch of rebels with your pack. Sniff out some Jedi with your pack. Feed some storm troopers to your pack. Maybe he could just keep them on Mustafar. That would be so cool. The only thing Vader cares about. A hidden side to Vader that we only see after Luke brings him back.

There were actually some sith lords in the old republic who would fight with beasts by their side.
Imagine if Vader brought that pack with him and used the force or cybernetics to enhance them now that would be scary!
Vader knew Sith Alchemy in Legends as well.

Darth Vader in Legends someone bigger than a simple antagonist / protagonist he is a person you can become familiar with, he suffers, he craves, he hates he is someone alive.
vitor kennedy Disney Canon has tried their best to make their Vader appear as a god. They may be able replicate and even best EU Vader with power feats but they can't seem to give us simple but interesting stories like these from Legends...

@@hiboomer1191 maybe a movie that is specifically his time as Vader, with things like this comic, giving us a view of how terrifying he was to the galaxy, what he did alone: like think of Padmē and his past, and a few brief moments of humanity, where Anakin's heart shone through.

Stories like these, where someone restrained by everything encounters his free will and joins a pack of beasts, always captivate me. Seeing it with Vader of all people made it all that much better.
The movies "Dances With Wolves" starring Kevin Costner and "The Last Samurai" starring Tom Cruise are sort of like that.

There was a part of Vader that remembered the feeling of having a pack, back when he led the 501st Clones. His men had been his pack, and he had cared for them as their leader. These beasts simply reminded Vader of that feeling.
I think it woulda been cool if he asked for the creatures to be transported to his castle. Vader having a dozen alien hyperdogs all seeing him as their pack leader as pets would be really fitting for him.

Thrawn Trilogy often stated as the best. It was the first official part of the Old EU Canon. The Best book ever written probably
Darth Plagueis.
This book WILL make you LOVE the PREQUELS.!!!
once you know all the off camera machinations pushing forward the events therein. Covers the rise of Palpatine from a young man to how he became the Sith Lord Sidious and how he murdered Darth Plagueis the wise.
If you are a Darth Vader fan, then the book Dark Lord rise of Darth Vader is an essential read!
It goes into his psychology as he transitions from man to machine
And for the Old Republic era the best ever books are the Darth Bane trilogy establishing the Sith rule of two.
And also Revan by Drew karpyshyn
covering the main character from the knights of the Old Republic game and what happened to him afterward.
All these books are also available for download on audiobook through places like Amazon and audible.

Probably the best detailed example would be … a Krayt Dragons comparison
Kraty Dragons tends to obey Dark Jedi or Sith more so than Jedi - the same principle applies to most animals in the wild. However, it is possible for a very powerful Jedi to do same. In fact, its even possible for a Krayt Dragon to obey a Jedi over the Sith or Dark Jedi, but that is (lore-wise) not likely. Likewise, the same principle applies to the creatures showcased in the video
So, its not that " _Vader is more than strong_ " .. its just that, for Vader's Era, there's not many who can challenge Vader's Midi-chlorians ( mainly because he's the Chosen One ) . Its very possible for any other Force-Sensitive to do the same, Vader just so happens to be the one the creatures ran into first
I’m glad stories like this one exist alongside with the cold hearted anger filled Vader. It gives it spice and explores different flavors of the character. There’s still a good chunk of legends stories that still have yet to be added back to canon, and hopefully this story sees its way back.

I'm actually very fond of stories like this. Instead of the big theatrics of the main story, a side-story can help with world-building and character development.
Pretty much any well-written spin-off.

My exact thoughts.
The first time he felt emotion he wanted to feel. A lot of his depression was just- The Empty. The Nothingness. Blank.
Well, suffering is more of a state of being than an actual emotion. So it technically wasn't incorrect.
Those beasts did what no Jedi had ever done for him: They granted him the rank of master.
Take a seat.
Vader cares not for ranks of the Empire. He cares about respect and true capability. He would rather fight with a loyal yet wild animal or a capable yet independent Stormtrooper than any high ranking officer any day, even before his fall

This is legends. Mustafar was far too painful for him, much like Tatooine, and thus his castle is on Vjun.

We need a Star Wars movie about Vader that depicts his life like this moment. Not many people know tht Vader had unique moments like this, other than what's already commonly known in movies today.
