I made a lobby of 4vs4ai moderate just to play exactly how i used to play when i first started playing the game, no metas,my build order was insta mill on berries,casually making vills till fedual, insta stone walls making well looking base,after castle make 1 tc but the people who joined the lobby went for castle drop and tower rush on moderate ai like really? How does that make them feel?

@@user-xj5tc6yw7e yeah thats extremely cringe. I don't play normal Extreme AI ever these days on super open maps like Arabia anymore because people, no matter the skill level will only want to cheese the AI in the easiest, low skill way possible.

It kind of reminds me of how I was playing this game 20 years ago when I was 10yo. Not like I am playing it way better now, but still, it's hard to realize how it's even possible someone sucks so bad and is still willing to play online xD
There's 20 players total that are above 0 Elo and below 100 Elo.
These guys are a rarer breed than the top100 players

there should be a 2v2 tournament where the top 20 players all have to team up with a bottom 20 player.

My head cannon is that all those LEL are actually role players using AoE as a stage.
Reminds me of when I was playing Magic the Gathering and roleplaying my cards. A lot of fun. Except I did win some minor tournaments, but again, Magic is literally based on DnD so roleplaying fits in the game quite well.
Role play and real time strategy sadly don't usually go well together.
We are hitting levels of low ELO we didn't think were possible

This is definetly one of the best LEL I've ever seen, Idk how they're under 100 ELO, they're so good! Especially blue! And in the last moments when red was trying to trade he totally won my heart.
That was so much more fun than the high elo games. More please.
I love watching Low Elo Legends. I can never expect how the game will go. It's so much fun watching people figuring out what to do, not caring about meta or anything.

This is so much more fun to watch than the pros. They put on a show but its all relatively expected. these guys know how to break out of the meta and teach us new things!

There was a moment where everyone was asking about blue’s blacksmith since he didn’t make any upgrade. But it was the first feudal building he made.
This was one of the most entertaining ELO's. More lower ELO's please!!
this reminds me of when I was first playing AoE2. Trying to figure out how on earth to deal with castles and randomly discovering trebs in the imperial age.

The original AoE didn’t provide you with enough wood as starting resources to build a storage pit. So, you had to chop straggler trees around the TC until you had enough wood to build a storage pit and chop the wood line. That’s the game I played first and thus my go to is to chop straggler trees. It feels right in my mind. Just throwing that out there

You have to save up food in case there is a famine, so your people do not starve! It's just responsible stewardship.

I really would've loved for the game to go on another 30 minutes with red's gold heist and secret TC, and blue looked like he was getting better with his treb use. Blue's KD was nuts. Complete huskarl and villager genocide. Red playing house with his gender specific eco roles was adorable.
This reminded me soo much about my first games on lan partys.

This game made me start playing AoE. I hate memorizing how many villigers should be doing what and when, but playing like this and having fun looks great.
Thats the exact reason why i dont do that building order stuff xD. I play for fun, not to go remember a math equation.
I never play online, it also would never get me up high ELO. But who cares.
But i do understand the basics of the game, not like this 2 hehe.

When I saw how low the ELO was I got excited at the prospect of seeing McClain's godly gameplay again, but it wasn't meant to be.
They should make a training mod that has SOTLs commentary about each building or unit when you click it. Just to explain how everything works to a beginner

One of the best tutorials Ive ever had the pleasure of using. You have a clear speaking voice at the perfect cadence, and straight forward instructions. I only wish there was a way to skip right to the instruction rather than listening to 8 minutes of unimportant explanations as to why I should do the very thing Ive already decided to do and just want to do.

This is what I wanna see in a game, none of those optimal strats that would never work or happen in real life.
It genuinely pisses me off that villagers having idle time is such a big problem in the game. I'd love it if they had stamina like IRL, so they have to rest or else your economy dies.

mainly because they are absolutely terrible at micro and at counters. over 70% of the "aoe2 game skill" is just micro and counters...

These have to be smurfs or something, the pace and variety of things happening feels like stuff you don't even see 10x their elo. Either that or just two super unique, aggro players

red isn't aggro, he just likes to play sincity and gets mad when you attack their buildings

I would not be surprised if they are very young. This reminds me how my young son would play AOE. He was in this own little world. If not young than as mentioned below - they seem to be having a lot of fun and that is what game playing is all about.

Well... I used to play like that when I was 10-12. Now I am 34 years old I am even worst because I haven't play this game for 15 years xD.

Yeah, Blacksmith.... Back in the day, much younger me that was new to AoE2, had habit of leaving Blacksmith tech, because there were too many till I aged up, then built 5 blacksmiths to research all techs at once... then forget about returning after like first round... :-D Also if it was going on long enough, i sometimes clicked it by mistake and found more techs, needless to say, I forgot about third round then again... :-D
Also didn't know you could trade with enemy... all the things you learn from low elo... :-D
And for researching everything, I used to do it back in the day, because I really never bothered to read description, I just felt it likely does something. It did. And I was happy moving on. It didn't even matter how icon looks. :-D Also I would always build trade card, because I clicked all researches and always forgot that first icon isn't research... :-D
And for houses, I would always build them into separate square pieces of 4. :-D Also of course I would never pull boar under TC, didn't know about decay back then. And scouting was hourglass shaped, like if I was on north east, I would send it to south west, then north west, then south east, then back home, if it survived that long. Sheep were only found by mistake and sometimes left under TC, because I forgot to eat them and started farming after berries, because berries didn't need managing. :-D Also my armies always were balanced, because I would queue up 5 of everything, when that is done, 5 more of everything. Except Mangonel, because those killed my troops and micromanaging them wouldn't be a thing for quite a while. So I just mentally marked them as dangerous to myself. :-D Also for cutting trees, back then I was confused because sometimes they did it sometimes not, because I didn't know that they do it after you research Onager. :-D
This is honestly far more entertaining and interesting than watching pros run metas and macros. Ham and cheese is so much fun.

I ran into one of those everything in my army players last time I played. He set-up and tried to siege my base, I deployed my army of Paladins as the Persians and demolished him. This was several years ago,probably more so the savar Persian unique didn't exist back then.
My favourite was the vill dodging the scout way the hell out!
If you could work in interviews with the players throughout the match it would be hilarious. Like in all those reality shows.
Been Darkelfing ever since I was 12. It's soo much easier when selecting all villagers to recognize on which resource they are.
