Re: Takamine explorer: "Takamine model GX-100. This is a neck thru guitar. Very rare explorer shaped guitar of which Takamine only made for a short time between 1981-1984. This model was created in conjunction with Jackson Guitars and in their Jackson Japanese factory". Looks like you can still find those out there for not too much! Cool first guitar!
I gave mine to a girl I was crazy for stupid but she wanted to start playing guitar I'll help anyone who wants to play guitar and what I don't need anymore I'll donate to a music store or goodwill but my les paul stays
Chris I hope to see you out on tour with that LP. Love this gig on PG. Please keep doing it. You are so relatable. Feel like we are friends just bs'ing over guitars.
That LP is such a great keepsake electric! Wow! Also, you looked like a rockstar with that Takamine. I don’t own my first guitar but, I still own my first decent guitar. 1976 Fender Musicmaster. Black with warped pickguard. All original. I was born in 70. Didn’t own it new.
I remember seeing this LP in some old footage, I think at Bonnaroo. He was using a white explorer for the drop d stuff then used this for anything tuned lower, like Weenie Beenie and Stacked Actors.
Ha! My first guitar was the same Takamine; I think the model was GX100? Mine was black around the sides, but the top was a dark teal. By chance I also ended up with an Ibanez RG550 and an El Cheap-o acoustic in the same color scheme.
The Takamine GX-100 Explorer was my first guitar too.... I traded it in for an even exchange after a few months on a GX-200, which I still have to this day.,
I still remember my first good electric guitar, which was a red HSS Squire Strat that I played my first gigs at back when I was 13 but eventually butchered because I wanted to try and convert the standard bridge into a floating trem because I wanted to emulate guys like Joe Satriani and Steve Vai. I had no idea that it would've screwed with the guitar but it did and to this day is basically unplayable but it was still a great guitar and helped me get a feel for my current number one which is a '97 Fender Strat Pro Deluxe (that I also recently modified by swapping the pickguard for a black one to look more like David Gilmour's Black Strat)
I think its called a Classic Custom or Custom Classic. The inlays are like a Standard would have, and it only has binding on top. I almost bought one several times!! haha
The Classic Custom came out in the early to mid 2000s. Chris's guitar is a rare Gibson Les Paul "Black Beauty 82" made in limited numbers in 1982. Looks quite similar to the Classic Custom though.

That Pat... what a swell dude!
Loving this Shred with shifty segment! That's a cool LP!

Muchas gracias por compartillo ;)

Cool. You're doing a great job with the channel.
Where has the Richie Sambora interview gone?
Removed it because he was a drunken mess? Still he said some insightful things

Cool! That Tak was nifty. I know everyone wants to know mine…it was a Granada bolt-on LP copy.
When is the Richie Sambora episode?
Very soon.
nice, I had a ' 72 Gibson Black Beauty Custom that I still regret selling as a kid. I used the proceeds to buy a new '81 Gibson Explorer.
82 is my birth year. I want one from that year so bad. Oldest i got is 89
That is such a sweet Les Paul. It is a wonder why built in string winders never caught on.
My 84 Les Paul Custom has them also. I believe there was a patent/copyright issue and Gibson stopped using them at some point...
Chris looks like Rik Emmett Jr. in his younger days picture. "Lay it on the Line........"

Get Pat on?
This was the Les Paul you played all the no use for a name shows with I’m guessing?
If those are Tim Shaw pickups they probably weren't easy to come by.
Hey Chris, I have one of those right now, if you're interested.

@@tomroberts1970 Ya learn something new every day! Thanks!
It would’ve awesome if the NUFAN stickers were still on it!
Was that black les Paul that he used in no use for a name
Yes
A Black Beauty with Standard neck? 😮
It’s a rare model called the 82’ black beauty. They are pretty rare and valuable too.
