- An actual Foo Fighter shows us his solo material rig!
Welcome to the show!
What a trip - we managed to catch up with Foo Fighter & solo artist Chris Shiflett on his recent UK & Ireland tour. Join us in Bristol’s Thekla venue for a listen to his current rig with some Foos chat for good measure.
Huge thanks to Chris and the Shifty crew for making the time, and for making us so welcome. There’s a new record out later this year, but in the meantime make sure you get up to date on the previous two solo records, West Coast Town (2017) and Hard Lessons (2019). There's a dude who deserves every bit of success he has had. Great video.
Been following him since he called himself Jake Jackson before NOFAN. Love his playing.
100% Noone more deserving of his success!!
Dan’s face when he says thank you for making the G3. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
A great example of the strength of G3. A player coming off a simple true-bypass loop switcher headspace can jump right in the water without drowning.
Thanks mate (Dan here), really appreciate it, especially coming from the best board builders ever! 🤗🙏
@@ThatPedalShow Bless you. That is an altruistic assessment. 😀
Chris is BS free and Happy to share his tone secrets. A breath of fresh air in the world of guitar stars
How can you not love Shifty! ❤ superb player and an awesome dude.
Y'all are the damn best. I'm honored to have the kind of support that you show me, thank you. How are you doing it is nice meeting you here?
@@ChrisShiflett-wi4pz I have to admit that I completely missed Foo Fighters due to poverty, such that this video is my introduction to you. Thanks for representing humility and overall chillness while ego and aggressiveness are widely promoted.
7:31 - Just love the genuine reaction from Dan to the second Tele, he almost reach out to grab it ❤
Oh my!
He has to be a Ace Frehley nut, so many Ace licks and the sound (even with a Tele), not just because he mentioned an Ace song either. Love it
I had the great pleasure of supporting Chris here in Denmark back in 2019 with my own band. Just the nicest guy. And we got to geek out a bit over the P90 Telecasters he was rocking at the time. Great fun, great evening.
What an absolute champion! Love how star-struck Dan and Mick are
No lies detected
What an experience. Chris is such a cool guy. TPS just keeps getting better and better ! Legg-ends for sure. Really love you guys
Cheers mate, love you too 🤗👍
This is MASSIVE! Congrats to all involved

Great show guys! Thanks Chris!
One of the most down to earth rock stars you will ever find.
F3KING brilliant. Thanks guys. So happy to enjoy this awesome content after a sh1tty week.
Love this Chanel , the gift that keeps on giving , thanks TPS

THIS IS SO FRIGGIN' COOL! Congrats to the whole TPS family for this epic moment!
Great vid guys! Chris is a cool guitar player and always enjoy his views on rigs, sounds, music. Thanks!!
What a guy! Loved that
Awesome. I love Chris.
Amazing conversation, thanks a lot TPS and Chris! Hoping for part two :)
Love Chris’ playing. Hes a rare breed these days. One of the few guitar players out there who can demonstrate the type of guitar playing that works from the theater to arena. Also just a great dude, glad hes using G3. Dan out here improving guitar players lives one at a time
Lovely stuff, gang!
Love that Chris moved through the different sounds in a manner that helped make the edit smoother - he defo watches the show.
How nice that a triple A rockstar still has time for we geeks and loves the music so much that he does a van tour after all these years.
Thanks for the episode, Team.
Wow, what a treat, thank you lads. I just wish it was a longer interview, but I understand, there was probably a time budget.
This guy is great. What a great sport.
That was great Mick and Dan! Shifty is a down to earth cat and a great player! very inspiring!
What a lovely man. And a great player.
Oh man this is gonna be awesome
Great video! Chris seems like a chill dude
Thanks Dan, Mick and, of course, Chris - what a great video.
Such a legend… good stuff fellas. Enjoyed this one.
Love Chris!
Love this episode! Shifty is one of my favorites! Such a great guitar player and seems like such a genuine good dude. That you all got together is epic! Definitely enjoyed the mutual admiration amongst you.
Amazing look at Chris's pedal board and how he uses it, immense tones and sounds from his stuff, terrific episode 😄
Chris seems so down to earth! What a great dude. This episode was super fun 🤘🏻
Wow what a great guy Chris is and what an awesome video for the channel! Been watching you guys for the last six or seven years and it's been so great to share in your journey. Was looking at an old video recently and it looks like you recorded in a cupboard - look at you now! I love the fact that big names in the industry have been watching your videos and seem genuinely chuffed to meet you too, and hear your opinions on gear and tones. Just placed my order for more socks and my first T-shirt ! Love you guys
THANKS for this ❤
i love how he's a down to earth bloke. amazing ampless tones too.

Really enjoyed this. What a nice fella 😊
Awesomeness! Seems like a super cool guy!
One of my favorite guitar players! great dude.
I absolutely love this man. One of the reasons I got into playing guitar in the first place. Thank you for the rundown, fellas!
Aargghhh YES, you all finally did it!!!
Shiflett is phenomenal
The whole vid shows that thing -again- we all love about TPS: great tones from great players, good vibes and down to earth cool people. Fantastic stuff (gonna hug my G2 in a minute. lol)
That was awesome
Love Shiflett. Also has a great podcast he does. Big fan of Foos work and solo albums
Great episode!! Chris is such a down to earth guy and rippin' guitarist. Thanks for not asking the unnecessary Foo Fighter questions - which maybe some other media outlets would try to capitalize on. You guys are too classy for that!
Whenever you get imposter syndrome or question this UA-cam business, just remember CHRIS SHIFLETT learnt about parallel effects from YOUR video!
Keep up the great work.
So fantastic! What a cat and what a player!
Well this knocked my socks off! Fantastic interview with an absolute legend. I love The Foo’s of course but seeing Chris in his element like this is truly awesome! Thanks Dan & Mick ❤
Y'all are the damn best. I'm honored to have the kind of support that you show me, thank you. How are you doing it is nice meeting you here?
Love that parallel fuzz/phaser/drive effect, very cool
Excellent video and great material information guys! 🙏🏻It’s amazing how good sounds the Wampler Tumnus into the Strymon Iridium. ( digital amp)
I am very very impressed and surprised that he already goes amp less but still his guitar rig sounds absolutely phenomenal!
Excited to see the Foos back on the road. Theyre playing Louder Than Life in my city Louisville KY in Sept....
Sounds awesome
Thanks a lot for this. Chris is one of my favourite guitarists. Super great guy and amazing player. Discovered him through No Use For A Name.
A Short but Great Episode. Tnx.
This is awesome! And how much Ace Frehley does Shifty have in his lead playing! ;) Love it. Such a great dude.
Chris is such a nice guy...
What a great interview! ❤Curious to hear some of your thoughts about the experience of the iridium in that space, bc through the video all of it sounded awesome!
You’re also hearing a lot of FOH and the room. That helps A LOT. Cheers!
What a great dude.. love the new tune. I think our favorite uncle worked on that tune.
Thank you for this video! What a great guy!
Y'all are the damn best. I'm honored to have the kind of support that you show me, thank you. How are you doing it is nice meeting you here?
Chris is so Diferent then Dave in Parsonaily witch i love the man deserves everything he has i just love him and his Guitar playing
Chris is such a cool dude and such an awesome guitar player! Great video! Thanks.
Dan needs to show this video as a perfect example of the beauty of G3. You can tell how buzzing Chris is about it, and the solutions it provides like parallel routing, pre and post gain etc. It's a fantastic piece of engineering.
A down to earth guitar player.
My favourite UA-cam show featuring the guitarist of my favourite band! Is it Christmas already?!
Chris is just one of the coolest guy.
He sounds great.
Yeah man, I dig the almost mid 70’s Eagles vibe that deco is giving him
Shifflet is so cool and such a great player.
Chris is such a great guy chill guy and a better guitarist. I have seen this video like 8 times already. Love the Parallel sound. Definitely going to try it. I guess I also have to get a drop d pedal this is like the 8th video I have seen where someone says they love it or use it a lot.
Wow, now T'm stoked! You can totally hear the Ace Frehley in his playing and I LOVE IT! To me, Ace is the sound of the 70's.
Can’t wait to see you doing his foo fighters rig too with g3
What a great, practical, no nonsense setup and interview. Chris really highlights how the G3 makes sense for those players that do not necessarily have over the top, pedal-centric boards. The parallel fuzz/overdrive function is revelatory. Much thanks, guys!
Haven’t been to the Thekla since I saw The War on Drugs in 2008!
When is the "That F***ing Pedal Show" shirt coming?
That F***ing Pedal Show
- an actual Foo Fighter
that's a shirt
Nice jobs guys! Shiftee is the man!
LOVE THIS GUY.. sorry I missed the gig.. 😅😅😅😅
this is just awesome!
did you guys ask him about surfing at all?
Awesome to see a tumnus and a muffaletta on his board..2 of my favorite go tos and you can't get a bad tone from either of them
Great video, Foo Fighters are the reason I picked up a guitar for the first time 24 years ago. Have not looked back since. Chris is a great player and a humble dude. Lovely stuff gents, great content.
Right there with you on that.
First songs I learnt on guitar were Next Year, Learn To Fly and, of course, Everlong....
Make a point to learn each album when they release one.
What a totally cool guy.😊👍
